few can afford flood insurance. Here in Kansas, I looked at the cost. it would cost us over 3000.00 a year, more than doubling our current premium, and would not cover much beyond preflood re-placement cost. No property mitigation or payment for time forced out of the home. Imagine an insurance agent telling you they will replace the house, but repair of the land is on you, and the house can not be set up until the property is made safe and level again.
Very believeable. I live in Barre vermont, and the flooding in my area has been worse, and repetitive. And we have many many flood control dams protecting our towns...it has no effect on 4-8 inches of rain in an hour. east barre dam saved our town. even thot it flooded horrible
