      Many of the top hitters today had terrible first runs in the Majors. Then there are some players who had legendary success to only be out of the league in a few years…
      Those high sliders in are BIG LEAGUE pitches. The pitch that got me in the minors was the low and in slider from lefties just off the plate. If it stays in the zone, I launch it, but that extra inch of bite made it unhittable.

    Definitely not gonna say I can play ball better than him or be in the major leagues, but Holliday really needs to adjust his swinging, front leg moves up too high and plants too late, and his head rotating during the swing isn’t going to get him some hits. Needs to lose the giant leg kick and figure out a more efficient way to transfer weight. When he lands, it opens his stance up which is causing contact issues. Once he lowers that kick and subdues his hacks he may become a 40+ doubles type gap hitter with maybe 10-15 homers. His stature is small and he's a middle infielder so thats still really good.

  • @icxyee6222
    @icxyee6222 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    his timing is off, i think that big leg kick might be the source, it can be a nice for timing but the motion is to long and his timing of it is way off, same thing with someone like Xander Bogaerts he had a big leg kick when he came into the league and still goes to the big one at times and he even started the season off with the big kick, but now has swapped to a smaller quicker kick, witched helped him gain over .5 BA back and might be a similar case with this kid, but do not write him off. It is also killing his balance.

    The skill is there that’s unquestionable, skill wise he is ready to play in the show. His issue is between the ears! He’s gotta learn how to handle the pressure of playing in the Show.
    He’s gotta get down to AAA relax and get back in the groove to prove to himself it’s not a lack of skill. He will get there and get himself right there’s no question.
    Even tho his stint was unsuccessful it was still beneficial. He got his cup of coffee and once he’s right in the head and comes back the pressure won’t be so overwhelming!

      @@sangreesraro3996 bro he's 20. He was batting below .60 and I think got 1 hit our of like 20 or more at bats. You cannot improve much with numbers like that. I think the moment got to him and crushed his abilities. I'm sure he will improve but he will be a role player or bench at best. There have been many number 1 picks who have been a bust. This isn't new.

    Why are people making so many excuses for him. He was killing it in the minors and as the #1 prospect a call up was warranted. Then he wasn't just bad in the majors, he was terrible. Most pitchers were better hitters than him back when they could hit.
    He obviously needs more time, but idk why so many people feel the need to make excuses for a stranger.

    Lets face it, a lot of guys today get a ticket to the major leagues because of who their dad, grandfather, uncle, is was, etc, and not every one is going to be Ken Griffey Jr or Barry Bonds. I believe the true talent pool gets watered down from politics and who's related to who. What we see is no longer a game of the best talents being brought up through the system, but a club of entitlement. 50% or more of todays players come from wealthy families who's $ gets them first crack at everything they want in life, while the rest get overlooked.

      This is the most uninformed comment. This kid destroyed pitching at every level until he hit the bigs and was the consensus #1 prospect in baseball. Neither of those things are because of his father. Sure he grew up in big league clubhouses but you can't take away all the hard work and dedication to his game that he put in. You simply don't get drafted #1 overall because of nepotism. Secondly, a large number of Latin players come from absolute poverty and work extremely hard to make it. Stop it with the nonsense.

    • @187Overkillah

      Why is he destroying on these levels?!? Because his parents have the $ and the time. He has been handed every opportunity to work on his career from toddler age to youth to teenage with the best coaches and equipment and teams. He has all the resources to get the most out of his potential, what makes this way more easy to reach a pro level.
