This is a great listen boys. I was lucky enough to work for Scott in Switzerland back in 2002 and even stayed with him, his wife at the time and daughter at the rock house in the Swiss alps for Christmas that year. As a 17yo I don't think I could have imagined a better job on the planet 😂❤.
It's so lovely to hear your voice again Scott. After 21 years I still sit here on my block in the Tweed Valley wishing I had some of those shark seeds we were trimming.

Money + Cannabis + heart . Now that's a tough hybrid to produce.
Hats off to Scott , one of the nicest guys I had the pleasure to meet in this industry. His work and attitude has made him shine and stand out from all the rest.

One of the only people left in the industry who's even fit for the title 'breeder' IMO.

Late 90s , early 2000s you could pick up as much as you wanted from The coffeeshop. There was a border town called Rosendale where people would come from all over Europe to buy in bulk . They had steel bins full of buds that one could get their order vacum wrapped before leaving on their journey to their various country's. The que for the dealer went out the door and stretched down the street . Was a magic time where I met contacts from all over. Now there isn't even one coffeeshop in that town.

SSH is still my favorite when I can find a suitable pheno. I ran a pack of Mr Nice years ago. Found some good genetics, but not 'the one.' Here in Michigan, one company has a great version. Hope they continue to grow the genetic.

Great chat, thanks guys. I Crossed the White Rhino of Shantibaba with Dunns Sage Mother Plant (super Sage) which i got from him at some point in the late 90s when he had the hemp shop, anyways, i used the seed in a grow i did, i planted about 300 seeds and ended up with about half females, the variation in offspring was off the chain, i spent the mid winter / early spring making the most fabulous water hash with my son, and smoked it with freinds in june at a festival in leeds, i cannot tell you how great that hash was lol, life saver for the lads after a night out on all kinds of shit at the festival, they looked almost dead in the morning, so i gave them hash for breakfast, an hour later they were up out and eating haha, great days. Some of the offspring had the strangest flower clusters i had seen, they looked like pussy willow, beautiful.

    im
all ears, the really trippy stuff from
the 60s is the big sur holy smoke. theres three phenos a purple yellow green, its reddisj purple. then tberes two more green looking yellow ones. i guess the story is also fairly interesting. I wouldnkeep that one over any of the newer more potent varieties for the euphoric vision enhancing effects

I got recommended looking into Mr. Nice strains as an better alternative to Sensi Seeds, Nirvana & co., according to those breeder syndicate guys like Matt Riot and Notsodog the Black Widow, SSH, etc. from Mr Nice are more leaning to the old originals than Sensi and the others. I wonder how the Early Skunk is like, I only know the feminized Sensi version with that "grandma" mothball smell.
33:40 Now I feel really stupid having wondered for years how it's possible for stuff like Afghan or Nepal hash to smell so complex and perfume-like, never thought about the influence of having a whole field with different leaning phenotypes in that small piece of hash.

When he flowers out 1000 seeds , how many times does he run clones of those 1000 plants before settling on the 2 keepers? From experience I would have to run them at least 3 times to lock them in and to see their true potential before making my choice on what to keep. That's a serious amount of work and time .

Clones are the representation that can surprise. Seed Moms are not always an indication of what lies within. Ya gotta run at least a few clones, to see what ya have.

    Maybe somebody can help me?
I ordered some mr nice seed packs... because I would like to grow clean (not feminized) strains by a great breeder.
So are regular plants only good for crossing and important for breeders or can I use them, to go back to the roots? ;-)
I want to learn and understand the plants in their grow behavior!!!

Regular plants are fine to grow & smoke you just have to separate the males.
Can be tricky to avoid accidental pollination if you're not able to spot the male flowers before they are mature.

In my personal experience, strong weed or hash can contribute to hypoglycemia, or rather exacerbate* it.

I don't think he grows to sell. Got to buy the seed and grow it out, or find someone already growing and gift them some seeds, they will likely return the favour with bud at mates rates.
