great vid, customs are definitely for aesthetics+ "typing experience" while gaming keyboards will be more than good enough for most, and perform very well. Plus you can actually use them out of the box
Buggha mouse is actually the best mouse. It litterally is just a better g502 with slightly worse feet. You can't judge it unless you buy other feet for it. It is such a great mouse. Also it is a 5 below so you CAN buy it for 5 dollars. I expect another review

I dont think that its custom keyboards in general, its just the GMMK pro, the reason boardzy said customs arnt worth it is because he also had the GMMK pro. There are a LOT better alternatives to it, and if the switches feel heavy you should consider spring swapping them.

Im pretty sure that boardzy said that before actually getting the gmmk pro, he also made a video called I was wrong about custom keyboard where he tries a 60% keyboard

My GMMK Pro features the Tealios V2, lubed and filmed. Durock V2 stabs and polycarb plate. It had the stock 67g spring but it doesn't really affect me at all. I can understand where Intel is coming from, but you can always spring swap or even just swap out the switches. I love how you are always honest even when you have made the decisions, you don't just defend your decisions, you give your audience the largest amount of truth. Appreciate you brother.

6:08 Hey Intel, consider EPBT keycaps. They are pretty much same tier quality to GMK keycaps. I am a sucker for the custom mech community, but I am not mad at your points rather believe they are valid. The GMMK input lag is sluggish for a modern board.

Dude, thank you! I was thinking of building a custom GMMK Pro, but after hearing about the input lag, I think I’m better off sticking with my Blackwidow TE V2 with yellow switches. You saved me from spending hundreds of dollars on something I wouldn’t be happy with, so thank you again!
I have the gmmk pro and i'm happy with it, the points in this video are really weak, you can just buy pbt keycaps and razer switches, and if your board has imput delay you can refund it. This keyboard intel has is not that great, it has rattly stabs and its really hollow.

That guy doesn't have a brain trust the keyboard enthusiasts not the "gamers" that know nothing about keyboards. if you just buy a fast switch and spring swap everything WILL be ok. and it doesn't let you get better at an game.. your probably young and trust me games aren't everything in life. i was just like you before, but now i haven't played a game in 3 months. they are many things more important like family. because someday you can't be with ur family.

I was just interested in getting a new keyboard and I never said that it would make me better at the game, I just would rather a keyboard that is more consistent when being sold, and I don’t blindly trust people after one word, I do my research. Also, I never said I was a gaming addict and rejected my family just so I could play games, and your videos show that you played a game in the last 3 months.

Hyperx alloy origins core is a super good keyboard, with premium feel and only 4.8 milliseconds delay, and linear switches with 45g actuation force
Overall , almost the same performance at a much better price (at least in my country)

what you call "massive input delay" is a Glorious core software bug? please do some research dude, just use qmk or any other software untill this gets fixed and you have input delay like any other gaming keyboard. Overpriced, for the features it has it is, its basically a Satisfaction 75 for less than half the price. And if you get good switches, it beats out every other standard gaming keyboard with ease, so... Edit: Also not all gmmk pros have that much input delay, it has to do with some quality control issues on the pcbs
it all makes sense now, i couldnt hit notes at all on time in osu but once i switched to my keypad everything was fine from there

This is because most of the custom keyboards have qmk firmware and most of them are default on 125hz polling rate instead of 1000hz for most gaming keyboards. There is a video explaining how low polling rate affects your gameplay in osu since if you play a 125bpm or 250 bpm you would notice a difference in the hit meter
well i use a custom build using a dz65rgbv3 pcb and i havent got any issues but thanks for telling me this cuz i was thinking of upgrading to a gmmk pro but after seeing this, i would like to say thank u for the information

For keycaps, you can find PBT keycaps while being high quality like Akko keycaps and HK ones, you can get low actuation force linear switches and tactiles like ones from Akko
i just got the razer huntsmanv3 Mini hyperspeed today. i LOVE IT its op and sounds so good
i completely agree with you on the keycaps, ive had them for 5 weeks and they are so bad in durability
if you want a good keycap set i recommend gmk olivias, they looks really nice and also feel amazing
The reason why thte gmk caps are made of abs is that they allow better colors and are easier to make clearer legends. Also with pbt, space bar warping is bigger problem

If your like me and tend to have oily fingers, the keycaps do get a bit shinny over time, especially on consistently used keys like WASD, but since the keycaps are matte its only noticeable at certain angels.
I did a similar thing. I had a 700 dollar fjell that I made but I just didn’t feel like I could game with it. It felt like a typing only keyboard. Ended up selling it and getting a hyperx alloy FPS pro and am not disappointed.
I love custom keyboards because they feel premium and different from all prebuilts. Something about them makes me feel different. I also play osu and mc and use gateron ink reds for wasd xc and use epbt keycaps. I feel like some pcb have the similar input delay.
Depends on the manufactur if they really care about their products they will try to make their profucts better that is not overpriced for bad product

I don't know if you've done this already but the GMMK Pro is known to have some issues before you do the firmware update. So do the firmware update to see if there's a difference.

I use the RK61 by Royal Kludge it is such a good 60% keyboard for $50 it has 20 rgb settings, good switches, wired/wireless mode. Very good

I got the huntsman mini a while ago and I can for sure say that Razer has gotten really good with their keyboards
I used to not care about keyboard sounds either until I lubed mine and now I can’t go back. During gaming I’m not focused on it, but every now I eargasm and I’m like holy shit that keypress sounded so good
If you guys dont like loud keyboards, get the razer huntsman tkl (any version) but with red switches, they are soo good, they sound nice, they almost dont even make noise, and they feel amazing. Definetly my fav keyboard
Personally if i want light linear switches i would get lubed and filmed gateron reds, they feel awesome and they are thocky as hell, i have a keychron k6 and modded it yesterday. recommend it!
5:55, personally I love, and i mean love shine. the 'rough' texture dosen't rub against my baby hands and feels buttery smooth. Personally I don't think shine = bad (atleast imo), what i think is bad is when the letters rub off, but with gmk it's gonna take a long time for that to happen, especially since the letters are another layer of plastic, instead of just etched or stamped on like with really cheap pre builts. But yeah, shine is preference, i like the feel and look of it more. But remember, that's my opinion
Boardzy made another video saying that he does not necessarily hate all customs, it was just the gmmk pro in particular that he didn't like. A fan sent him another custom to try it out and he actually liked it.
coming from a keyboard enthusiast and a minecraft gamer myself, the problem with input lag isnt the keyboard, its just the pcb. if you get a replacement pcb for it u can fix the lag. and for gaming, yeah maybe gaming keyboard with their 45g springs are better, but custom keyboards are more for people who care about sound feel and looks. for typists.

You can get the razer huntsman mini red switches which is the same as the razer huntsman te but it has things so it doesn't rattle and it's so much quieter
If you wanted to get a faster actuation and still have a custom keyboard you could get a GK61 with optical switches then mod the keyboard like the stabs.
I also noticed an input lag on my friend‘s gmmk pro, maybe it’s just a bug that could be fixed with an update.
Gmk really isnt trash. They are made of abs but they are doubleshot which makes the durability actually really good. They can become shiny but some find that appealing.
One thing of note: As you said you could get different switches, but those wouldn't solve the responsiveness issue with the GMMK pro. What would is changing the keyboard from 125hz to 1000hz. It still might not be as good of an experience for gaming, as the switches are heavy tactiles, but you could get lubed spring-swapped tangies(or any other smooth linears as tangerines are out of stock rn.) I do understand not wanting to throw more money at the GMMK pro though, I am just saying that you could maybe make the experience on it a bit better.

in my opinion the sound of a keyboard is very important because I can hear my keyboard at all times, I can hear it because I manly use speakers at a low volume, or I use headphones but I usually wear them on one ear only.

You could try and use speed switches if you are having problems with latency on your custom keyboard.
I have owned the huntsman for a year and it is really good in all aspects. The only thing are the switches. They are soooo light and you do really often typos until you adjust to it. It activates instantly the key travel is like nothing
You think that's fast, wait until you try an Apex pro.
The v2 red switches fixed that problem for most people
you can customize a gk61x with optical black switches. You can lube optical switches with dry lube.
You should try the hyper alloy orgins.
