My own favorite place for hanging out in the summer is the local botanical gardens. They have tables with seats, so I can sit down in the shade and do some writing while peacocks, guineafowl, and bantam chicken wander by. Makes for a great atmosphere, and it's much better than my overheated rooftop apartment!
