I don't really care for Ghost Busters. He was sued by Huey Lewis over that song for ripping them off. I knew him before that for being an in demand rhythm guitar player. Many successful musicians that came up in the 70s made a fortune. It's unfortunate that today it's much more difficult for that to happen.

I have been a fan of Ray since I was a teen. Parker's recordings of him and Raydio were the cleanest and influenced my audio production. I cannot believe that he had no training in audio engineering and that Prince cut his first album in his studio.

Ray used to record all the instruments in his albums when he was young, in the early 80s. He said that way he saved time and money during the production. They are re-broadcasting all those old "Casey Kasem American Top 40" where Casey tell this stories about the celebrities of 70s & 80s. Ray Parker Jr. was and still is, a great celebrity from those golden years!

What an awesome home studio, wow. Very specific to his exacting standards, very impressive. The floor to ceiling glass wall is stunning, all the thought and attention to the mic stands, video cameras, and so on is borderline OCD. I'm a technology geek as well, and my head was spinning from it all. So freaking cool. And then the contrast with the simplicity of his desk, with the racks and 500 series (and small monitor), shows his focus is, at it's always been, on making music. Mad respect for the musician, and studio designer in him.

You listen to his Raydio records and you can hear every single sound sitting perfectly in the mix eq-wise, left-right, front-back. And very smart guy financially. (How do you think he could afford to build this studio? 😁). Do yourself a favor and listen to his interview on the Questlove Supreme podcast. The stories he shares are phenomenal!

Wow! So glad I ran across this. Epic Home Studio Ray, so glad that you did it the way you saw fit. Certainly a musicians (like myself) dream. I've been a big fan of yours since forever, I've told the story on one of my radio programs about your North Hollywood Studio. I was really glad you brought that up towards the end of the video, because I can personally attest to what you said. I was a neighbor at the time and my apartment literally overlooked the back parking lot of your North Hollywood Studio; for the life of me I never knew what the name of your studio was until you mentioned it in the video (lol). It was located on Lankershim Blvd but the building had absolutely no markings on it whatsoever to indicate it was a studio, so you could easily mistake it for a regular office building (which I'm sure was the intent). I use to see countless artist come and go through those back gates to the studio. And I use to wave and say hi to you all the time, you were driving a gold Mecedes Convertible SL with the most outrageously loud (but very clear and detailed) sound system that I had ever heard in a car lol! The story I tell on my program was of the time Ray and rapper "Vanillia Ice" were leaving out the studio, my daughter at the time was very young and she was waving at you guys from our balcony and you waved back to her. Great memories of my time living there in North Hollywood.

Thank you for the tour, Ray. Your music and dedication inspired me to play the guitar a long time ago. Still do, always will. I'm a big fan. I'm 71 years old. Thank you for sharing.

“I love music. Music is my life. There’s no retirement from music. There’s no start and there’s no end. You just keep going til you can’t play anymore.” Dang - that's brilliant there.

Wow you scored a big one in this episode Andrew! I grew up in the 80s and this man’s music was the soundtrack of my childhood. They are the kind of people I look up to in the music industry. They are the stars. Thank you Mr. Ray Parker Jr. for the music.
