      @@MariOfTheMountains Those are good, but definitely not as good as fish (in shallow water) and also probably not as good as corn or cow since you need one work boat per individual resource

    Crazy you got civil service in an hour and a half on deity while commenting. Pretty damn impressive with this start, although you did whip a monument before going into caste 😳.

    Coming from Fall From Heaven, watching someone play deity on vanilla is really refreshing. I haven't play vanilla in more than a decade :)
    Everything looks super greedy with the build order etc.. and I forgot how barbarians are really nice to you on vanilla. The really strong fundamentals you show are really interesting and I will definitely include them in my play of ffh. Good stuff!

    Damn im 5 minutes into the video and im looking forward to enjoy this, to me its a terrible starting position for a capital, I regenerate map with twice the ressource, and I only play emperor at best!
    Youre incredible playing deity with this starting location 👍😅

    At 1:00:15 why do not all Gengis’ resources appear in the trade window? You only see iron while for example his gems should be seen. Why does this happen sometimes?

    Is this the steam version? I see you have Blue Marble and I've been trying to figure out how to get it for ages, if anyone knows how to get it I would love to know, all the guides I can find are outdated!
    Also I'm glad to have found your channel, I didn't know anyone was still playing Civ 4 on youtube :D Best in the series IMO, I've played 6 a bit but it always ends in me quitting halfway though and starting up Civ 4 again lol

    good play gifting gengis a city, but did early war cross your mind? horse archers or construction, both definitely on the cards with this setup, dont u think? but thats a slog, definitely, against a unit spammer like gengis and then strong techers in the back who are then safe from gengis... the gift city was probably the better play.

    • @henrik9658
      @henrik9658  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah not ideal against a unit spammer while every city he settles is on a hill. Very difficult to pull those stunts off on deity.
      Edit: with organized and philosophical these are more long terms traits that'll help you with a cuirassier attack a lot more than a horcher rush. Someone like Catherine or shaka are great for early rushes

    Hey mate, when you say around 55 mins that you can 'beg' if Genghis starts plotting, what do you mean? Does begging for something decrease plotting? I have never successfully begged for anything from an AI so Im also not sure how the mechanic even works lol.

    • @henrik9658
      @henrik9658  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Once an AI is pleased, you have the "could you spare this for a good friend option", known as the beg. With the smiley next to their names in BUG/BUFFY better UI mod you can see their attitude towards you and if it changes.
      When they are pleased, and you have known them for 50 or more turns, you're always able to beg a very small something at least once. The very small something can be a cheap tech like fishing or archery, 50 or less gold, 1-3 gold per turn, sometimes a regular resource (not iron/copper). If they accept you will get 10 turns of peace treaty.
      This is a safety net to deal with dangerous AI when they enter war mode/plotting. (Red fist or "we have enough on our hands right now"). The 10 turns peace treaty often cancels the plotting if you're the target, or at least gives you 10 turns to prepare. It makes a super nice safety net either way so you aren't surprise attacked. The trick to beating high levels is just to not get caught off guard.

      @@henrik9658 Cheers mate. Any tips on not tanking my econ when im trying to get my first vassal by the way? I always end up having to take all but 2 or so cities which leaves my economy in shambles (since AI cities dont have cottages, distance from capital etc)

  • @estaloncha319

    I can't understand why they don't just attack u while you're in a so weak position. I play on level prince/monarch and they always kill you if you don't have enough military force, even if they are very good "friends".

    • @henrik9658
      @henrik9658  ปีที่แล้ว

      The chance of getting attacked is actually very low, per turn kinda thing. It's doubled if you have a border tension.
      Get the bug mod so you get the red fist icon so you know when one of the AI do get aggressive. There's a few early games I do get attacked early and am forced to defend. Check out deity 61 Hannibal or deity Gandhi.
