My amateur guess would be because of the timing. Building/developing(gran/barr/stable) in 3 new cities instead of two would take a little too much time compared to how quickly you can get to HA's. The only other thing I can think of is with a construction attack, since it takes longer to get there, you want to claim a little bit more land so the AI doesn't gobble it all up. The extra production from the extra city with cats. does make sense too.
With regards to river connections, why would Bombay be connected where you put it but not the next tile along? They are both on the river. Is there a limit to how many river tiles the commection will work for before you get sailing?
@@chrisjackson3980 without Sailing cities only get connected on rivers if the river connection is within the city borders. with sailing it also connects outside the borders
At the very end if this video hateseput and Elizabeth where going to add fishing to the trade for code of lawa, but you removed it. Why would you decline a free tech?
Bit late, but: The AI will refuse to give techs with you in trading after you receive too many techs through trades, total, with ANY AI. (“We fear you are becoming too advanced.”)
I enjoy the detailed explanations of your thought processes.
(edit) Tricky start on this one. Very interesting.
can you post the map?
Yes, please continue talking in your vids. I learn a lot from them especially your early game thinking process.
Nice to see that others are still playing Civ 4
Sweet! Love this series! Has helped me become a better player!
12:58 Could have moved the fast worker to northwest, check if it's safe, come back, and then farm without costing anything.
Would teching pottery At once and putting down some cottages be ok or to slow ?
Can someone explain why 3 cities is ideal for a HA rush but 4 cities for a Catapult attack? Is it b/c you need the extra city to produce the pults?

Would you consider playing a mod for Civ 4 (such as Realism Invictus, Cavemen2Cosmos, etc.)?
I recommend the "RFC Rhye´s and Fall of Civilization" Mod for Civ 4

Think you should have gone straight metal casting. No need for caste system just for two great scientists.
Remove the S-Tag by Bombay please....pretty good playthrough aside from a few logistical mistakes
