That's certainly a game changer for vstrom 800, this is the real meaning of less is more. Looks fantastic
Five months late on the comment 🤷🏻♂️, sorry Kate.
I just ordered my Vstrom 800RE and in the run-up of this order, I watched every presentation of the bike on TH-cam in French, English, German and Italian and I must say your vlog presentation is the most pleasing, entertaining and informing of all. You did a wonderful job and, to be honest, you talked me into a test-ride and the purchase of this wonderful machine.
"Nice and fruity,fruity..." made it.
Great job and thanks for the great show 🙏🏻
just got mine today, very excited.. im 6'5" and fit perfect on here... thanks for your insights, I'm relatively novice rider and this feels like a great longterm bike!
Did you get the optional (higher) seat? ... And no knee discomfort? (I'm 6'3")
Was there anyone that wasn't in Montpellier for the launch😃
Well done Kate.
Me 😂
Yeah me neither@@LambChopRides

I believe after my lovely xf 650 this is the one!❤
Wow, it seems that Suzi always manages to get it right. Always liked the V-Storm and this one seems to be the "bee's knies". Love it in that green version. Your review was top notch... again, thanks. You're both looking good in your partner-look new riding gear, would match the green V-Storm edition well.
Rather a V-Storm than a Babet storm..., still lovely riding conditions down there on those fantastic roads. Bon voyage.
Glad you had some twisty's to ride Kate and a sunny day too.
My next bike for sure , 👍
Love the new jacket Kate. Looks nice and snug ( and yes, I did watch the unboxing video)
Thanks! It was a good system because it was boiling one minute then raining the next 🤣
Been waiting for this release
Kate laying down some Spanish vocab to me in France. You kill me! Great vid dude!
Jumping from Gran Canaria to France got me messed upppp 🤣

Great review! I own one and feel you pretty much nailed the characteristics of the new Vstrom 800RE. Only thing I might add was my annoyance with the wind noise I got from the original windscreen. I am only 5'8" and screen at it's highest point. Not so much buffeting as it was just noisy. I changed to the Puig Touring screen and it fixed this issue for me.
I appreciate that 😊
Können Sie mir sagen welches Modell der Puig Scheibe Sie montiert haben. Bin auch 1.70 groß und habe dieses Motorrad bestellt. Danke
The new Transalp is getting some great reviews, especially from moto journos, but a fair few owners are complaining about the lack of torque at low rpm. The torque's there but you need to be into the throttle; you can obviously ride around this on the road but off road I see that as an issue. The Tiger 850 has a similar spec to the new RE and I imagine rides pretty similarly. Low rpm torque was also a bit of a concern with the triple despite the new firing order. Vibes at highway speed were a known feature on the 900 versions. So if the Suzuki has less vibes, more accessible torque off the mark and still manages to be a comfortable, predictable handling bike with a modicum of gravel-road capability, I'd say it was the best of the bunch, for the asking price. Shame it's a a bit fugly, but the looks are growing on me...I reckon the Tuareg knocks them all off the spot in every regard, provided you tweak the suspension to suit but there's always the niggling concern over longer-term reliability as it's a pretty stressed engine.
Sounds like a great bike with loads of spec
Good review Kate. On a side note, what are you wearing? Looks like the Knox layering system? Would love to see more reviews on that gear!
Excellent vid,well done Kate
I hope we get body kits for this bike…I haven’t even finished watching and already I know this is
A. A very good road bike
B. A very well built bike.
C. A very reliable bike
D. A very reasonably priced bike
It is however, not that handsome😅 and that might make a difference to many..
That exhaust is hideous. 😮
So glad Suzuki brought this version out……….it’s exciting because in the next couple of years, we should now also get a Tracer 8, CB750X and Versys 800! 😁😁😁😁
BMW S1000XR TE baby, nothing beats that bike in my eyes :) - nice review Kate
Great review, thank you for putting effort into the videos for our enjoyment. Greetings from Denmark 👍🏼😀

Beautiful location and footage! Great review! It is easy to understand why the V-STROM is such a perennial favorite.
Morning Kate another great vlog looking good as always looking forward to seeing this later wearing your biker gear and your world famous swanky helmet and dark visor ride safe lovely 😍
amazing content as always kate 🔥🔥
Thank you!! 😁
Hi Kate, I don't think it's the best looking bike around, but it certainly is a good bike, and to be honest most of us love big engines, me included. But you have to say realistically the 800 RE has all the power and grunt you really need on UK roads, like you say though shame about the omission of cruise, it should have been on the options list, and let the customer decide. Thank you.
20:57 that scooter guy freaked me out lol
Ok 👏🎉👍 Kate 😊
Best review yet
Whoa high praise! Thank you!
Every honda transalp bandwagon buyer be like "but but but"
Can you remember what the dash was saying for avg mpg. I use road focused adv type bikes for touring, so mpg is a big consideration. I know Suzuki state 64 mpg, but thats debatable. I tested the GSX-8S, obviously the same motor, and avg mpg was in the low 50's. If this bike is the same i wouldn't change my 650 V Strom for it.
Nice hope they have one at the NEC to look at not long off now
Great vlog, ma'am. Merci! Terrific roads near Montpellier. This latest VStrom looks like an excellent machine and should help to boost Suzuki's recently dismal sales record in France.
PS: You avoided prison in UK on that KTM, but did you know that the speed limit on the road you were on is 80 kmh? Yes, I know it's ridiculous.
2 speeding tickets, just before Brexit,on those road,so they never got paid 😊
great review kate
Thanks so much!
hi, congratulations for the video!! beautiful roads and nice ride, I understand that you enjoyed this bike😄! I like this bike but they could have put a more functional screen and an adjustable fork!
I noticed the heat on the right leg in 800de. It was a game changer 😢 you inspired me telling you you didn't feel it now. It's a pity that we still don't know the explanation of that. Maybe the weather was different?😂
Maybe! When I rode the Vstrom DE it was in 30 degree heat. Much cooler in France.
Same in Poland:) I will test next spring this bike, tiger900, bmw f800gs and transalp again, which disappointed me somehow...
I wonder if the foot pegs are positioned differently on the RE, which may make the leg heat less noticeable
Fully intend to test ride this bike when I get the chance!
Well done Kate ❤
It sounds quite good, nice ride
looks good a nice ujm
Very nice review! You sharing your height and demoing on the bike is very helpful! Especially for us economically built.
How do you find it in the city, considering the bike had one or two cookies too many?
Great review. Everything about this bike is great except the beak/platypus bill and lack of cruise control. Still appeals to me though.. will have to see/ride one for myself. Cheers
You have to scream, FRANCE!!! Like the Miss Whatever pageant. I subbed to Mike's Twitch... That sounds dirty. 😳
LOLLL I laughed so hard at that 🤣
Great review got the DE800 here in new Zealand just traded it in to get the RE800 also got the sx250 v Strom Great little bike to don't know if you get them in ENGLAND
Cheers ✔️ 🍻
Hi
I see you had a 1050. Why did you sell it, and do think the 800Re is really that better on-Road than the 800DE? Thanks
Sold my 1050 after putting 100 000 kms on it to bye the DE800 great bike on and off road but looking for bit lower seat and tulbless tires haven't got the new one yet 😅 hopefully it ok being a v Strom it should be got over 20 thousands kms on the DE800 and also got the little sx250 great little bike to its got 17 thousands km on it 👍🏻
Cheers ✔️ 🍻
Hi Jim Pat here. Looking into the 800RE myself. What do you think of it so far?
Had the DE800 two mouth am finding it fits me well like it better than the DE800 on road don't go off road much but do alot of gravel road and it's fine 🙂 one of the best bikes I have owned
Thanks Jim gonna have a look at the RE myself.
Awesome video! Beautiful bike for sure. I always like when you share meals, what did you have for dinner? Best!
Haha, you'll see what I have for dinner in some bts stuff haha
@@UsernameKate ?
Behind the scenes 😆
@@UsernameKate Got it! I was thinking about you and your sister traveling to a posh hotel. I enjoyed that. Admittedly I am a foodie! 😎 Best!
Seems like a nice ride. I agree with the desire for cruise. I'm seriously looking at different touring bikes ,IF they have cruise. Last bike was the Yamaha Super Tenere(no cruise😒), current ride Suzuki Burgman 200! It's great for running errands and short trips, with large underseat storage. If that model had cruise, I'd be VERY interested...👍😺
I LOVE a good burgman!! What a lil ripper!! I wouldn't put it past suzuki to add cruise to this model next year based on this feedback
Go for Tracer 900 GT.
Great review. At 5'4", it's good to know what fits physically. The old hips aren't as flexible these days neither 😂.
Ok. So you've ridden this and the non DE 1050 V Strom. Does the 800 feel more powerful than the 650. Is the 1050 significantly better? I like the idea of a v twin.
Very informative video crocodile.
Excellent review, looks like you had tons of fun!
Looking at this, or the BMW 900 XR. Both look great bikes, BMW comes with less 'functions' which makes it 2k more expensive. How motorcycle companies have the front to charge for 'day time running lights' is beyond me, so Suzuki looks to be ahead right now.
I prefer this engine and comfort levels compared to the XR. I love my beemers but this would take my vote personally! You should definitely test them both if you can 😊
Keep on singing Kate you are one lucky woman you are you are lol great looking bike young lady and the color of the Suzuki and being in France stay safe and let us know about the fuel mileage and the price great vid
Ideal for Guy Fawke's Night, Katherine's Wheels...
Looked pretty cool... How does the seating and rider triangle compare to the 1050 non DE?
Thanks!
Oh my! Thank you so much dude!! I appreciate that! 🙏
@@UsernameKate $$$ from Las Vegas~ most people just leave there money here and go home broke lol
Don’t care for BMW-like “packages” that inflates cost but, to broaden its appeal, the RE could certainly use a package or two.
Hei Ka I liked your review🎉
"Not a cool bone in my body". You're kidding, right? If I would ever be in the market for an adventure bike this would also be the better choice of the 2 for me. Furthermore: I'm from the time that cast alloy wheels where new and thus cool and I still find them to be more beautiful and practical. As far as the all terrain bit goes: For us amateurs it will handle such stuff good enough. I often do light terrain on my road bikes anyway because I live in a border region between The Netherlands and Germany and they often forgot to "spread the tar far enough" on the smaller roads. 😁
Is there a centre stand option? Essential I think on a chain driven bike, should be standard.
There is a option for it 👍
Great roads, bike looked good, suzuki no heated grips as standard ? cruise control yea should have these days . Does it have a centre stand or is that another optional extra 🤔 or maybe Suzuki should fit all three with luggage and call it Vstrom 800 + 🤔🤔
Great vlog 👍
Take care, stay safe 👍 🏍
Compared to the Vstrom 650xt???
Given the option of this, the road biased version, or a GSX8 think I would rather have the GSX8. Unless you are going for the full fat version for two up, full luggage touring, then to me such bikes are like the jacked up hatchback/faux x 4 suv of the bike world.
You've got me thinking... I don't know which I'd go for... because the comfort of vstrom was better than the GSXS but, I can imagine day to day life would be easier with the smaller stance of GSXS. Food for thought!
Hi Kate, can you manually switch between the day and night settings on the TFT display, also can the display be switched between mph and kmh. Love the channel, Grant
You can! Sorry I missed this!
Can’t get past the lack of cruise. Have never done long trips, and cannot do it without cruise with my hand problems.
Great review Kate~ BIG question~ how is the heat management of this bike? Does it throw heat on your legs? I live in Las Vegas where it is quite hot for 6 months out of the year~ does this engine throw a lot of heat on our legs when you are riding? I am glad that you mentioned that the heat problem does not exist like it does with the DE~ maybe Suzuki addressed the problem Thank you!
Hey Mikey, I covered it briefly at the end because I found the DE to put out big heat on the right hand side of the engine but I didn't experience it at all in the RE test ride 😊
@@UsernameKate Thank you! Well, that's the bike for me in Las Vegas then~ as soon as it arrives here. If you visit Vegas I'll throw you the keys & you can take it for your whole trip. Where was this vid filmed~ with all these twisty roads?
You're too kind! It was in Montpellier in the South of France :)

^^^check this out~ a modern day Katana 750 lol
Hi Kate , thanks for the review. How does this RE compare in street handling vs the S naked version…also which do you prefer as far as overall comfort? I am wondering if it is worth it just putting a small screen on front of the S.. thank you
So I know it's a road focused bike, but how do you think it would fare when it is on the dirt? Do you think it could handle the Trans-America Trail? I'll probably be commuting a lot, but when I get the time off, I want to know it can get the time off... road. Cheers
I think if you weren't doing anything extreme and went for a dual purpose tyre, I think it would be fine! 😊
@UsernameKate Thanks for the reply! That's great to hear. You might've just sold me on it. Wish we had the other colors options here in the US, but maybe I can convince myself to dig the green!
Have you thought about getting one painted? I think that's what I'd do with an RE :)
If I didn't already have my Africa Twin Adventure Sport......
I'd trade the quick shifter for cruise control in a New York minute.
Thanks for the clear review! Does it vibrate at ~5.000 rpm like the 800DE?
yes but can accept
cruise control is must at least as an option.
Don’t need cruise control, always have to turn it off with all the traffic here. And to sum it up, the test ride sold it for me.
Pricing in the US is just slightly above the 650 V-Strom, so it’s obvious Suzuki is attempting to “kill off” the 650. Once they’ve dropped the 650 from the line up I’m sure we’ll see more tech like cruse control on the 800……and a higher price.
Suzuki UK want to run the 650 vstrom along side the 800 and don't have any intention of replacing it currently. They will look to see the 800 vs 650 sales figures down the line but I think they mentioned that the 650 is about £1500 cheaper so in the UK, they think the price difference is big enough for the demand for the 650 to still exist. Time will tell 😁
@@UsernameKate but the 650 still doesn't have USD forks that might be a big factor for some. And lcd display dash, and no led headlights. And the weight is about the same.
@@UsernameKate Here in the US the 800 (RE) is priced just $700 more than the base model 650, and just $200 more than the 650 XT model. I’m sure the 650 is more expensive to produce, with an aluminum frame and swing-arm and the V-twin motor (which probably won’t meet the next EURO emission standards), so instead of an update to the 650 it will just “fade away” to be replaced by the cheaper to produce and newer spec 800. It may take a couple of years but as they say “The handwriting is on the wall” 😉.
PS: Excellent review of the new 800 RE 😃👍!
£1,500 is still £1,500 to people who don't have it spend though I guess!
Sounds plausible, just relaying the answers to the questions I asked :) Glad you enjoyed it!
Would this make a good first bike?
With that many people riding the same bikes and color do they sell them as a used bike at a discount do you know Kate
Is it going to be available in the USA?
lack of CC on a bike is not an oversight, it's a business decision and every company does this to push you into their high end offering
How does it compare to tiger 900 ?
I would've considered it, but... pegs moved back and up, seat lowered, bars lower... i,m 6ft2, no thanks.
Hessler 1 piece flat seat?
What you guys call roads I call trails.
Hate to think where you stay...USA,Australia, Canada, and Sth Island NZ crap countries for bikes, unless you're off road...great roads in that area of France!
JOKE!!!@@williamrae9954
👍👌✌️🔥
Is it the case, you can have any colour provided it’s blue🤔, it’s about time Suzuki actually produced something new , had many Suzuki bikes from the 1970s till the 2000s then the choice became sparse,,
Seems to be a decent bike , but still not a fan of mid or small two cylinder bikes,
I'd still have to get the DE because of the looks. This RE looks like trash somehow. And the raised footpegs if true is definitely not good, bikes are small enough as they are.
👍👍🇺🇸
Is the seat too high for you?
No, it's fine 😊
What is your inseam? Mines only 29"
29 also
And your feet touch the ground ok?
Yea fine 😊
I read there is a low seat available
There is, I mention it in the video 😊
Oh ok sorry
Don't be sorry! Just letting you know as I include the heights in there :)
But you said you thought the stock seat was ok for you and you have the same 29 inch inseam as me, so maybe the low seat would not be necessary.
I think you will be fine on stock :) but at least there is an option if you'd like a little more floor contact :)
everything is nice, except this front look...damn.and of course it needs another screen, this is awful
electronic throttle, intended for on road touring, and no cruise control......why Suzuki, why?
They want you to fork out the money for the 1050 if you want cruise control
Veridian Cruise offers after market cruise control electronics. Projected availability August 2024.
😁🖐️
this is heavier than triumph tiger 850
More time should be spent on explaining the bike on its specs etc instead of just riding...
I m sorry but many TH-camrs have moved the game.
(Try Brake Magazine review on the new R1300 GS)...
I appreciate your opinion. No one can seem to agree on what is best, so I do what I am happy with :)
@@UsernameKateDo your thing, nothing as boring as a TH-camr just talking spec for 20 minutes, spec’s are easy to find on the web.
Much better to hear the impression the rider gets and to hear it conveyed in a good and easy understandable manner. Keep up you great work. 👍🏻
Appreciate that 😊

Showing my age now but had an original brand new RGV250 VJ21 in Pepsi colours back in 89 had a GSXR 600 750 1000 all fantastic bikes of their time my love has though been with Yamaha .. sorry Suzuki it’s butt ugly
Rather have cruise than useless rider modes and a tft
