im a younger guy and i 100% attach my self worth to my art and it felt so revealing to hear someone else did it but now stopped makes my very happy. you are very talented. good vid
Bro, I enjoyed your video, had a giggle as it's probably what I sound like to my wife when I'm railing on about past jobs. I agree so much with what you say about the negative attitudes that often gets sent around between artists due to some work cultures. Linking your self-worth to what others seem to expect of you and feeling like you should be doing extra work on the side just because others says you should be doing so is no way to live. It starts to tank your emotional stability and work/life balance until you crash. I stopped taking on certain projects for those very reasons so I share in your frustration? dislike? what ever you want to call it. Regardless, imposter syndrome often I feel is symptom of a bad work environment or a bad circle of colleagues. Anyway, great sculpt, always enjoy watching your attention to detail. Keep going you legend and never let anyone say you are not worth it! Sending you my respect as a fellow character artist that's been down in the trenches.
I usually can't stand watching timelapses, but the madman rambling makes it much more palatable. For some reason. Genuinely, though, I really love these videos and wouldn't dare watch with it muted!
You hit a lot of key insecurities I deal with especially with the "If I'm not using my spare time to do artwork, I am WASTING my time." I have an industry job now, but I feel like I'm still in survival mode where I feel like the work is going to get rug pulled at any moment, especially with the direction digital art and the industry is headed. I worry that if I ever stop and get complacent the work will suddenly end and I won't have the skillset needed to find work in the future. I love your videos and having your insight on this stuff is awesome, as well as some high quality workflow tips :)
Dude I couldnt agree more about what you were saying about lol certain ppl that are supposed to help ppl with jobs posting selfies and stuff for clout 🤣 I love your videos!
Regarding your point about shaming people that don't work outside of their hours/for free just for improvement. Performing what is essentially a labour spectacle is a direct reaction for the level of work required to be in the top 1%/employable bracket in the games industry being so damn high. It should never be shamed if you don't overwork yourself, but it is whats tacitly _required_ to be even considered for these shithole companies that have a mountain of people to pick from and look for the most they can squeeze for the least amount of money. This is ofcourse excluding the luck and knowing people factor you addressed later on. The state of industry "at the moment" is a bad way of putting it, it isnt a temporary blip, it is a gradual incline of extremity regarding what is required of you, and how much you can do for as little. nice gas mask btw :P
Yeah definitely a topic I don't have all the answers to, or feel comfortable to go crazily into. And yes, do definitely agree, the quality you need to hit to get a job is getting higher and higher. Every generation of new artists, it feels like they have to be better and better every year. It's scary.
Man, fuck, first minute 30 and you already hit a good point. I need to stop being so hyper-focused and worried about the topology/blockout in the beginning and just make it
My parents weren’t pushing me but it was very much get the fuck out the house Is what I thought you were going to say 😂 Great content and story time pal! 🤙
Change title from zbrush to maya. When you throw one sphere and a cylinder for a blockout and sculpt a few wrinkles for some straps, it has absolutely no right to say zbrush lol.

The quality of fabric and little damage details is flawless, any tips on achieving this?

i don't charge for sharing knowledge, i just ask for you to show me that you really wanna learn what i can teach you, that's my view on mentorship

I use marmoset to render my final shots, but use zbrush to sculpt the model!
