I enjoyed your podcast. Youre so cute. I appreciate seeing a clean, no tattoos, no green or purple hair or eyebrow piercings young lady with her head screwed on tight. Kudos to you and to your parents. So refreshing. Keep on knitting. Im impressed with your knitting enthusiasm. ☺

There's only two podcasts that make me stop everything to go and watch them, and it's you and Bethany from Well-loved knits... so yeah, this is me pushing all aside for my one-hour knitting time!!! Love you!!

I love combination knitting! I use it in the round too. Combination knitting was how I was able to switch to continental style.

I'm not a hugger either , mum, dad, hubby and kids great anyone else not so, I have learnt to accept hugs but still feel myself tense up, I've just turned 50 so it's definitely an on going issue. Love that grey yarn and your curls.

Combination knitter here. Welcome to the club. Love it and you are so cute. I do combination ( also known as eastern knitting) in the round as well

I second the Step by step sweater as a great beginner pattern especially if new to garnet making. The proof is in the pudding, it was my first ever knit object and it was all thanks to the clear pattern instructions and detailed video tutorial.

Oh that could very well be true, about it being his favourite sweater. I made my best friend's toddler a jumper and they brought it on a skiing holiday. Then I promptly got it back because it was curling at the bottom. Added a few more rows of ribbing, and brought it back. The toddler ripped it out of my hands as soon as I took it out of my bag and proceeded to just. run around with it and cuddle it for half an hour.

great episode! i really laughed when you put that little text "i promise i do hug him now" - i'm the exact opposite, so i feel like i've been the one pestering my brother for hugs during our childhood
you were one of the first two knitting podcasts i discovered when i started learning (it's between you and knits by mandy, i can't remember!), so it's very fun to be watching you while i'm working on my first ever garment project, my university graduation dress aka a maxi dress knit in a fingering weight because apparently i'm very ambitious
hope you have a great beginning of spring, can't wait for the next video! :)

Holy guacamole that sounds awesome! Best of luck with the dress and your graduation :) and thanks for sticking with me, it means a lot!!

Welcome to the world of combination knitting!!! I think my flat knitting tension is very good and I don’t row out!!!

I do enjoy your podcasts - can I adopt you? I think the type of button you were trying to make would be a "shanked" button. That bit behind the button that you sew through is a "shank". Happy knitting and I look forward to your next podcast when spring finally arrives in Canada.

Shank buttons - you're so right! It was on the tip of my tongue but I just couldn't remember. Thank you for your comment :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed combination knitting! I use it for everything, not just knitting flat. It has made twisted ribbing flat a nightmare, but I think it's worth it regardless.
I haven't had any huge issues with lace or texture in the round, though I'm not a huge lace knitter. I just try to be aware of the way my stitches are mounted, and untwist them first if I end up confusing myself.

Thank you for sharing, this is all really useful to know! I appreciate all the tips I get, especially as I'm still new to combination knitting :)

Even tho the buttons are too small, they are very pretty. Did they have larger ones you could try?

Hmm I don't think so, but my mom says maybe she does. Will investigate next time I visit.

As I am watching this, I'm knitting a shawl collar in a light fingering...... Six inches of twisted rib on #2/ 2.75 mm needles. Seems endless but it is the last step so I am persisting. I can easily imagine how stiff the tight ribbed neck was before you re-knit it.

That toadstool pillow is great! And so is the dinosaur!! I need to find that magazine.
As a heads up, I am not sure if the patterns in magazines are test knitted so proceed with caution xx

The Portuguese purl looks good but being older I think my thumb joint would develop problems. I knit English style which that is how my Portuguese mother taught me. Continental knitting is enticing to me but when I see the purl I change my mind. Same with Norwegian purl. I think In English style the mechanics of the knit and purl are very similar. It becomes a matter of comfort over speed for me; no sense speeding up if it’s going to cause me pain, I have to pace myself as it is to avoid the various pains I get.

On your mom's cami could you just drop the stitches on the sides and then seam the edges together?

Have you tried eastern/russian purl? I used to purl norwegian only, but switched when the last thing I knit was made from flat panels and the tension differences between knit rows and purled rows were very visible. TBH what you're doing sounds kinda like eastern purl but I'm bad at imagining things from words 😅

Oh wait, that is literally what you're doing, my bad!! But yeah, it definitely is life changing!
