I LOVE LOVE the vest. I just started my first cable pattern, its so satisfying to see the 3d pattern evolve. It was great hearing you wax poetic about dryer balls. Felting is so fun
First time watcher here. I found you from Vanissia's charity stream. You have an oddly calming chaotic energy and I'm here for it. Also you have a great sense of humor.
Absolutely hollered when I saw the mitts!! SO freakin good!!! and yay I'm glad you like your fibre! Targhee is so so bouncy and squishy- one of my favourites too :) if you like spinning the targhee try to gets your hands on some ramboulliet because that was a game changer for me ! good luck with getting those gifts done, you've got this
Knitting with handspun is an amazing thing! It seriously doesn't matter how wonky the yarn looks, the finished product will be wonderful. I'm working on a handspun sweater right now and seeing all the thick and thin bits just meld into the fabric is magical.
I'm with the rest of the commenters- LOVE the spiral mittens. I think they would be especially fun for kids. I see a pattern or a tutorial in the future/ hopefully? Great color on the vest as well- I would call the fit drop shoulder.
Rachel - I so agree with you about The Knit Purl Girl's patterns . I've knit several (Lucca Cardigan, Duo top and the Farnham tee) - great designs and technically accurate patterns. I have several more in my Ravelry Library that I fully intend to knit up in the future. However the wordiness!!! I just bought the new Tendreil sweater and it is 36 pages!!!!! I've considering writing up my own working version without all the verbiage. Great podcast as always and well done on your spinning - you have a a perfect right to be very proud of your mitten - I hope you have enough yarn to make the second one 😀
Thank you for such a great podcast! I completely agree about wordy patterns, I appreciate that designers are trying to be inclusive to all knitters but I can’t do anything over 8 pages. I wish designers would have the pattern and a support doc or something so people who don’t need the extra don’t have to hunt through it for the pattern.
I feel very similarly about the storm sweater… I was all ready to go to make it and now I’ve been satisfied by seeing everyone else’s 😂 I love seeing your spinning and weaving adventures, thanks for sharing!
Great podcast Rachel! Your Lana vest looks amazing on you and now I have moved it into my Rav queue. I think I might need to use a finer gauge yarn then the pattern to get a bust measurement that would work for me. Of course there will be some sweater math involved 😮 While watching you I am using leftover Alleycat Yarns Ontario Sock base for heels and toes in my current sock project, I am really liking this base. OMGOSH your tapestry is beautiful! Well done 👏 Just be mindful when measuring unwashed handspun, post wash many breads will “puff” up and you lose yardage….Polwarth is one for sure! So you will know if you try to put the washed skein back on the Niddy Noddy after it’s bath, you will see how much it changed. Have a great day.
Thank you for your comment and your tip for spinning! I have a braid of Polwarth I am eager to spin soon as contrast for a Kerr Sweater and that is really good to know!!
That's such a lovely weaving project!! I'm branching out into different fibre arts too and excited to take a weaving class in Dec as a holiday treat to myself. It'll def be a good place to use my wonky hand spun yarn. Love the texture on your Pippin sweater--adding to my favs on raverly.
I made the Lana vest last fall and I love mine also. See it in my picture here. I use written text. I did not like it going over the shoulder,so I adjusted that.❤️🇨🇦❤️
I really recommend the TH-cam channel Spruce and Linen for weaving tutorials. She's great. Goes through all the things you have questions about in a clear manner. Weaving is so fun and gives me an excuse to buy yarns I don't want to wear! 🧶

love your comments on self-drafting!

The mittens you drafted are great! They would make super cute candy cane Christmas mittens in red and white.
Love the wall hanging, I think the stars would look great!
yessss I love long episodes!

Oooh I missed out on the trunk show and the Ontario sock 😮 love it!
Also, the vest looks great 😊

It's a great pattern!
For me, the quality is good!
My dryer balls are made from a thrifted tangled mess of tapestry yarn that I decided was too much effort to untangle 😬
Thumb armpit 😂
