In case anyone is confused, COSCO (China Ocean Shipping Company) is not Costco Wholesale. The names sound awfully familiar when spoken.

I'm sorry but Re: The Hungarian (I think) man who "advocated for the transition from Communism to Capitalism" and was "horrified" by the unemployment that ensued, it is hard for me to restrain my anger at these people. WHAT DID YOU THINK WAS GOING TO HAPPEN????

I find the terminology being used here a little misleading.. is this colonization? or the politics of privatization? or political economy and those left behind?

Yes, I'm sure this is so much worse than the actual colonization of the 1500s-1900s. I cannot hold back my tears...

the connection between all these multiple crisis is simple and can be expressed in one word CAPAITALISM or more precisely neoliberal global capaitalism
the solution is equally simple the abolition of the nation state, and global class struggle and solidarity that never loses sight of the looming ecological catastrophe that threatens to doom us all

There's a difference between illegal deforestation in Romania and German trains being used in Britain. The first is a clearly colonial, predatory, and illegal action, while the latter is a basic function of the European Economic Alliance. It is ridiculous to equate free European trade with the exploitation experienced by those in the east, and then to call them both 21st century colonialism.

Our consumption-based systems are designed to exploit people and resources so one shouldn't be surprised when they do just that. Its like blaming a slave owner for being abusive. The problem is not the slave owner, who is a product of the environment, but the institution of slavery itself and the larger forces that allowed such exploitation.

Businesses privatize public companies because it's worth it for them to do. If governments didn't take out the loans they wouldn't need to sell their public means of production.
They take out loans because the citizens demand 100% of benefits but only pay 50% so they must pay the other 50% by way of liquidation of their public means of production.

UltraBoner5000 Governments borrow money to build their infrastructure to attract investment. Governments need money to educate their citizens to be productive and attract investments. Governments borrow money to build their economies. Africa borrowed money when commodities they sold became cheap or when they wanted to build their agricultural output to feed their people. It is a very complex issue. Poor countries do not have welfare states where people receive benefits like the west. They cannot afford to. Poor countries can subsidise food, transport, education and to a certain extent a minimum of health services.

the free movement of capital without the free movement of labour drives down the quality of life for the popular classes aka ordinary working class people the world over

The time it takes to resettle refugees depends on how fast WORLD BANK FUNDS are transferred from the "home COUNTRY-CORPORATION, to the new COUNTRY-CORPORATION. Remember, the host CORPORATIONS receive 1.5 million $s for every refugee!!!
