This is really funny. The man who play Toklas here, is the english actor Wilfrid Brambell. He played Paul McCartney's father in A Hard Day's Night, but also Steptoe in the classic british comedy serie Steptoe and Son.
This show was later remade in Sweden as Albert och Herbert, with Carl Åke Cederhök playing Brambell's part.
Brambell was very big - and very controversial - in England. He was gay and sort of a paedophile, convicted for seduction of under-aged boys.

No, he was never convicted of that. He had a conviction for importuning at a public lavatory, i.e. cruising for gay sex, when homosexuality was illegal in the UK, and having gay relationships was almost impossible. The paedophile allegations resurfaced well after his death in the wake of the Savile abuse scandal. It's said that Brambell visited the island of Jersey and had underage boys brought to him from a children's home that's been linked to sex abuse. However, these allegations have never been substantiated or proven. Brambell did visit Jersey, but that's all we know for certain.

@@frazzleface753 Very good correction! I will aways admire Brambell as a comedian nevertheless. The Swedish version of Steptoe and son is a regional classic, but the original is almost art, at least in it's first seasons.

I'm gay and thought it was hilarious, Especially since I'm reading Samuel M.Steward "Letters from Stein & Toklas." You should check out his "Murder is Murder is Murder" where they are portrayed as a detective agency and loosen up a bit.
