      You guys should buy from Himalayan imports. I got two 11" kukri knives & two 5.5" utility/ bushcraft knives sent too Ireland for €360. That includes €70shipping. The kukris were $95 each & the utility knife $50 each. I changed the angle of the bevell on the utility knife a small bit & finish by stropping it. Shaving shape. It's full tang & 4mm thick spine for nearly all the length of it. You won't brake it so easily. And then kukris are also full tang.

    I love my Temagami, and agree with all your conclusions. The design of the finger-guard has always looked like a place where the wood is likely to break during heavy batoning, so I only baton smaller pieces of wood - small dry branches and so forth. I use my axe for splitting lots, or I put this knife in my pack to use at camp, and carry a larger knife on my hip. Lately I have been carrying the Helle Nord as a belt knife - the Nord is a bigger, stronger knife that can still do bushcraft tasks well.

    Les is a Canadian Survival Legend! The knife is named after a town in Northern Ontario about several hours from me.
    I love the thinner stock on his blade. To me it’s just more useful all round. I hate trying to used a chunky bushcraft knife with a steep wedge of a bevel for food prep and carving tasks. It’s awkward and unenjoyable.
    I wish they offered it in O1, 80cvr2, or some other tried and true carbon steel (to keep the cost down). The laminated versions have too soft of a spine to strike a ferro rod even though it’s 90deg.
    Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

    I have used the Helle laminated steel version since it came out. It is super easy to sharpen and takes the best edge of any knife I have ever used. The big handle really lets you control and power the blade through wood. For pure cutting its by far the best. It will not make sparks on a ferro rod because of the soft steel on the laminate. I bought this stainless knife used it for a while and went back to the laminate blade. How
    ever if you dont want to have a separate tool for scraping ferro rod and tinder this is the knife for you. I scrape with the spine the sawblade on my multi tool or my bahco laplander

There is a growing movement away from these huge knives towards thinner blades like the real puukos because they have more uses. A bk2 used like an axe makes you think of using an axe or a silky saw. I never would have spend just over $200 for any knife but at a gunshow I traded a gun for this knife and put it in a corner for a few years where it covered its self in rust, my heart sank. Then I took 400 grit wet sand paper and removed most of the rust then I coated the knife in my homemade bees wax -flaxseed mix and no more rust. well since I it was no longer pristine I decided to start using it as an EDC. WOW it soon became my absolute favorite EDC adventure one 4 all knife, now I am totally CONTENT with this never let you down knife. If you think its too expensive just know after actually using it for a while you will soon find a new best friend worth every cent-yen-peso-rupee or what ever it takes to get one. thanks for the xellent review.

    Have you heard of cooking meat/steaks/chops by "reverse sear" method? Most of the cooking channels will have a demo. It amounts to putting the meat on a cooler area to get a gentle cook-through to almost done, then move to hottest zone to sear both sides. Less burning! That pork did look delectable, though. Food when camping is always better.

    • @Derchlands
      @Derchlands ปีที่แล้ว

      The idea of the sear is to lock in the juice. By cooking it on the cooler part of the fire you are loosing juice and only wearing it for texture

    I can NOT believe we’re not talking about that A-1 pun at 5:45. “When I’m fishing, I always say, ‘Catch less trout/Les Stroud.’” Like COME ON!!! That was pun comedy PLATINUM.

    I had this one in my hand at my knife shop and ended up going with the Utvaer instead (I wanted a big hefty pretty knife, not necessarily the best of the best). 14c27 instead of 28, not sure how much of a difference that makes, but it was specifically the handle geometry that convinced me: it doesn't have that little weak spot where the tang enters the handle. It has a rounded spine, though, so it can't spark a steel. I've been pondering grinding it square.

    I think if you file the guard on the blade side just a little to re-profile it. its less likely to catch when battening and perhaps wouldn't break

    Over priced knives, they look nice but I can buy a blank and do my own handle . Also you can buy a Enzo brisa sheath saving a butt ton of cash.
    You guys should buy an Brisa blank and do a build with an after market sheath . Show folks that you can spend way less and learn while doing so.
    I love Brisa blanks best bang for your dollar.

    These giveaways are a state-of-the-art value indicator for your channel. Skipping through your video history, it's almost cute how your "amazing and biggest yet" giveaways from, say, three years ago were absolutely mind-blowing at the time, but fast forward to today, and it's just f***ing ridiculous what you're handing out now. You guys have come a long way and have earned every bit of your success. I never would have thought I'd actually tune in every Thursday to watch two cretins complain about wet firewood every odd episode, evaluate the stability of a knife by shooting at it and make dad jokes about fishing less trout - and actually enjoy myself watching that. Good job guys.

      Idk man. I’ve never seen anyone in discord post themselves after winning the “giveaways”. I’m not saying the giveaways aren’t real. But I haven’t seen any proof either.

      You think they're scamming viewers about the giveaways? We probably would have heard something about that, by now.

    • @pubplays368
      @pubplays368 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrD313 No we wouldn’t. You need to realize it is super easy to fake winners. Make a few fake accounts. Claim they were randomly drawn as the winners or rig the pull system to a number you specify and bam. Giveaway winner. When in reality. The winner is just the content creator. I’ve seen it a dime a dozen times. I’m not saying these guys are for sure doing it. I just find it odd that there doesn’t seem to be any one bragging about winning a giveaway. Not one person. After how many “giveaways”? No photos on discord? It’s fishy is all I’m saying. I hope I’m wrong because I actually like the channel.

    amazing that it could spark the ferro, I understand that the spine of the laminated steel couldn't due to it not being hard enough but looks like it can!
