Hi David. Those speakers sound very special. Jarrah hardwood cabinet etc. Very nice. I needed to upgrade from a set of Yamaha 'book shelve's". They had very little bass response. I asked at a major retailer and the attendant didn't know what I was on about at all. "Stereo"? "You mean 2.1"?. Luckily a friend who gathers things had a spare pare of floor standing Pioneer's from the mid 1990's I think. That changed my appreciation of things radically. I'd been suffering for years. I have and old belt driven JVC. It has a leaver which adjusts the spindle/ belt driver between speed settings (33 or 45rpm only). It was running slow. A local technician advised I could apply a few layers of paint to the spindle to thicken it and correct the speed problem. Worked a treat. For years I was suffering with the turn table not returning automatically at the end of the record. It would continue to play in the run-out groove until I remembered to flick the eject switch. Somehow I suffered with that (first world problems) for years. Said local technician came to my aid. I'm enjoying my records very much at the moment. What a great looking package that Barry Ryan. The early days of the album? They went all out didn't they. "Lavishly produced" we used to say as youngsters marveling at the glossy gate-fold's and the poster's and all the inserts, etc. Great. I don't think I've ever heard of Barry Ryan! Maybe I was under a rock? MGM 1968. Ultimate Spinach. Eric Burdon and The Animals. Trying to think. Not easy you know. Still snowing! The weather service out of Reno Nevada has a special alert for my valley saying that it is likely to snow every day until the weekend and then the temp will drop to around zero. More storms arrive for next week. My equipment is all low budget but the speakers are pretty nice. Klipsch. I know nothing about them but they sound good. I have the standard Audio Technica that seems popular. Sony CD recorder/player. Low budget amp. Cheap cassette deck. It all works and sounds good enough for my ringing ears! If I tried to sell anything it would be impossible around here. A tractor or a cattle hauler someone would want. Stereo equipment? Never!
Oh Ed,you have put a smile on this old dial...the people withe good enough systems ALWAYS have fantastic record collections...I mean look at poor Michael 45RPM Audiophile...million dollar system/million dollar collection 99% uninteresting listening.....mmm,wonder where I could buy a good enough cattle hauler "round these here parts?...I feel fer ya fella...what with the weather "n all❄❄❄☃🌬
