Even 6 years later this soundtrack still carries the scent of pine and the indescribable lure of the east
I understand your Cravings, I sailed EAST many times but still couldn't remember what was there... perhaps it has something to do with a Namless Judgement lying there under the water...
An' I'm learnin' 'ere in London what the ten-year soldier tells:
"If you've 'eard the East a-callin', you won't never 'eed naught else."
No! you won't 'eed nothin' else
But them spicy garlic smells,
An' the sunshine an' the palm-trees an' the tinkly temple-bells;
On the road to Mandalay...
The world building in Sunless Sea is one of the most impressive out of not only games but fantasy movies and novels I've ever witnessed.
What about BioShock?
I am a fan of both Sunless Sea (Fallen London universe) and Dishonored, these two mix so well I often merge them both in my headcanon. We need more games like this!
and yeah, Lovecraft and Dark Corners of the Earth can be added to this. It has drunken sailors, mysterious harbor villages and secrets of the sea too.
definitely love the unterzee :)
@@danield6675 what world building lmao
That feeling of arriving London with 0 fuel and 2 crew...
I actually cringed thinking about this. but it's sunless skies and 0 crew after terror made everything get exponentially worse and worse
just..chucking supplies at them trying to keep them from sinking the whole damn train
Got hungry, eh?
@@lumen8341 I KNOW!
Usually I'm chucking the crew into the supply crates...
And 95 terror
You definitely can't survive on the wild surface of the sea with two unimpressive meats without industrial fuel that dead random bugs floating in it, slowly dying.
I remember the first time I traveled off the map, it was in the north, mostly because I wanted to see what was past the Event Horizon. Oh boy that was a mistake, I waddled back into the unterzee with 1 hp and 90 terror, it wasn't long until my crew tried to mutiny, I thought I was dead, but I very luckily survived the hearts check. Now with 1 crew, 1 hp, and very low supplies and fuel I had to make it across the map, and I barely mad it back to London on my last bit of fuel.
barely mad too, I guess
stories like this are so important to the sunless sea experience tbh xD
@@ladymeserole they truly are
Lucky you, me after the same ordeal I had a close call with mount Nomade, how did i dogged that bullet and limp back to London, ill never know.
i died to the living iceberg the first time i went passed the north wall :P

That's why I praise Salt, he is as neutral as the see, and doesn't try to kill you like storm or is the god of pompous bastard like Stone
@@Sir_Bucket Salt is far, far worse. Salt and its kind keep us enslaved through their poisonous light. Only Night can free us !
One of if not the most sublime and engrossing game world I've ever had the pleasure of getting to explore. Sunless Skies and the High Wilderness was a glorious and dire adventure but it comes in at a close second to the Neath for me.
*Perhaps you've come to make a sacrifice. Perhaps the sacrifice is you.*
Every time I hear "Infernal" I get paranoid and think I am in hostile territory. Just started playing Sunless Skies and had to pop in here for old times sake. The OST is one of the best I've ever heard.
Even now, a couple years after I last played, some of these tracks elicit powerful emotions, like the relief of London's proximity after a long and harrowing voyage - coasting into port on the last bit of fuel, with a crew half-mad from the terrors of the deep, dark zee.
Sunless Sea is one of the best games I've ever played. The story is so damn intricate that one can spend dozens of hours and still not uncover everything. The concept of the East, the letters of the name, the burning question... It's just too good.
In the tabletop campaign I'm currently GM'ing, my party is stuck in a massive underground cavern complete with its own "sunless" sea, and I keep finding excuses for them to head out on open waters just so I can pull out this soundtrack.
Sunless Sea with Darkest Dungeon narrator would be the most awesome game ever.
I see it now "Sunless Seas"
Or just any kind of collaboration between Wayne June and Alexis Kennedy
Implying it is not
“You make port, for now, a brief solace against the horrors of the Zee”
The tone would have to be just barely different. Softer. Darkest Dungeon's menace is hard and direct; Sunless Sea's is more soft and oblique.
Don't get me wrong, Wayne June is exactly the voice I'd pick. But while both games love terror, the flavor is distinct. Darkest Dungeon favors fear. Sunless Sea far prefers _dread._
after 10 years I still miss this game. Back in old days, I was alone in the attic, play this game whole day. The vibes, the story... what a mastery!
You had access to an attic? That must've been really cozy a place
God the london theme still takes me right back all this time later
Time slips sideways. A coil of rope has stung a stoker, and it's fellows beat it to death.
freedom from all laws, even those of nature.
*his fellows
To record the Republic's events - it's like trying to sing wax or believe water. You do what you can.
The third paragraph buds eyes. The date is fundamentally wrong. The full-stops bite. *You do what you can.*
The submergio viol takes me everywhere! There is a wild and glorious scent in the air. And I'm following it...
When going to Mt.Palmerstone, the Infernal song makes me shivering
It is a menacing, yet at the same time awe-inspiring vision of this hellish volcano.
For sure. Every time I approached that place I got on edge. The music is so spot on.
I like the Sound.

IS THERE A SEA MORE SUNLESS?
Benthic always stood out to me. Loved going near the Principles of Coral to hear it
I hate it. Not in a mean spirited way, just makes me uncomfortable is all
played this on loop for almost 5 years while working retail , thank you for the upload
This is the scariest game i ever played. When you sail in far south-east part of map, with low hp and high terror, and suddenly event happens and you lose one crewmember and you engine slows, and you understand that you may not have enough fuel and supplies to get to the any nearby port... Man, this feeling is unforgettable..
This soundtrack is so amazing. Not that the soundtrack of sunless sky is anything but beautiful but this one has so much more character... every song evokes its one memories.
When you pull into london
"Oh thank godz im home! 😭"
the best part is that feeling of being safe and home, quickly fleets, and you're left quickly running out of things to do in town. There is no "rest" in sunless sea, the sea calls you back, and just as eagerly as you rode for london, you ride back out to waters unseen.
@@FrostClawAO Someone was feeling poetic. :D True though. I think that perfectly captures the essence of the game.
@@FrostClawAO So true 🖤
Thanks for fixing the timestamps (and thanks to SecondsToLast for providing a list of them)! This version of the soundtrack has that boosted sound depth and extended song versions that I really like, and some tunes that aren't uploaded separately anywhere else. The one called Submergio Viol in particular. And the depth boosting really does something for certain tracks, like Khan's Heart.
Thank you very much once again!
Agree, I think this is an improved version of the OST!
Believe it or not, I've played the game so much the London sound helps me calm down irl as well. It's like a gentle, hopeful breeze on my hair after a long day.
I use this shit along with the Darkwood OST for when I run Call of Cthulu.
Im gonna runs a call of cthulhu game but in the setting/universe of sunless sea. Shits gonna be great
Hot, how did it go?@@wrath-2187
Take a gander at Cultist Simulator's ost, too, it's so good for Librarian horror
as a pirate cat, Submergio Viol puts me in a good mood :)
a what
@@Blockistium you heard them.
Listening the first track (opening screen) is 100% nightmare guaranteed for me. And it's 02:47, sleeping in 10-15 minutes.
Brilliant... Sets the mood
A good game and wonderful music!
Pretty sure that really low frequency voice in Sultry is saying 'Hold the phone'
So, I downloaded the audio, trimmed it, and increased the pitch in Audacity. They are, unfortunately, not saying "hold the phone", though in real-time without adjustments, it does sound like it.
However, if you go to around 14:34, there is something, it sounds like a distorted voice, but it's beyond my amateur skills to figure anything else out.
Oh, cool, did you find out what it was that they were actually saying? Or was it just an arbitrary noise.
Gives me sea fever again...
Someone should make a movie based on Sunless Sea!
I've just realise what implies Sunless Sea... It's a sea without judgment, nor Law !
I know it seems obvious, but think about it. It's a sea where anything can happen.
Thank you Gamer
I don't know this game but, gosh, the ost is amazing !
Hello delicious friends :^}
Submergio Viol just makes me want to dance a merry jig and not go insane
Very happy to see the soundtrack back up again. PonyJosiah13 is right, though - the timestamps on the songs are all wrong and random; should be a fairly quick and easy job to update them to be right.
I have seen this question a few times in the comments, with no satisfactory answers, so here is my attempt at mapping where the individual songs play:
00:00 (Opening Screen) - Main Menu¹
03:06 (Wolfstack Lights) - Fallen London¹

²different version of the song, not included in the soundtrack, plays
Also, the track that plays when terror goes over 90, as well as the version that plays when the Constant Companion is encountered, are not included.
Fuckin Elegiac is definitely one of my favorites.
Some tracks remind me a lot of Einaudi's "Logos". That piece really fits the game's atmosphere.
When you got to cheat on your wife to stop your last remaining crew killing themselves.
Thank you for putting up the full soundtrack to enjoy, but could you please correct the times of the songs in the description?
Thank you very much!
Are there any extended versions for the individual songs? I'd love to use some of them for a TTRPG session.
I'm commenting here on the off chance somebody gets back to you. I'd love extended versions for the same reason. As it stands, I usually just pull up the individual songs I'm after and play them on a loop.
Shame Sunless Skies doesn't have the same quality soundtrack
Agreed. The soundtrack is good... but also kind of backround music. I miss the different harbours being recognisable by its music.
Yes. There is no equivalent to Elegiac or Oceana Lonissima in Sunless Skies - nothing quite as haunting or evocative. Shame, really; the rest of the game is an improvement.
Such a weird contrast, we go from moody atmospheric songs, upbeat, sea shanties instrumentals, to runescape lookin ass songs
I frickin' love Undulata.
London was stolen by bats.
Within the damp and cheerless corridors, enshrouded by a veil of ethereal mist, I found myself leaning upon a railing of iron, its scent heavy with the tang of rust. The rhythmic murmur of waves whispered against the ear, their cadence a solemn hymn to the night.
Upon the darkened waters, faint signal lights flickered-so feeble, they seemed but ghostly winks poised to vanish at any moment. Beyond them, a profound and sepulchral silence reigned, where the blackness yawned and the mist billowed like restless phantoms of the deep.
00:00 Main Menu
03:06 London Waters
05:14 Iron Republic
07:22 Tomb Colonies-North West
09:13 Sea of Lillies, Wisdom, Port Cecil
11:52 Demeaux Island, Salt Lions- Generally places close to London, mid-zee
14:17 Varchas
21:55 Anywhere not home
I liked Sunless Skies more as a game, but this soundtrack is incomparable
The world of Sunless sea is very impressive and the music helps to build up the atmosphere. I only wish the gameplay would be more user-friendly. I never enjoyed playing the game very much, it felt too static, counter-intuitive and repetitive. But I would like to see more of the lore and the world - maybe a TV show or another game with a different approach. There's definitely a lot of potential there.
The game must be using some Bass Boost in the mixer and have cut some pieces, cuz they're almost unrecognizable xD
still good, but still ... different
Sunless sea, more like Zunless Zee
You might be in London but your companion is still waiting just outside.
anyone else here after the devastating fucking news about the **writing** of the game?
@Gnurt no... I dont think I will
Strange... some of them I've never heard ingame...

if this game had some more ship upgrades especially speed then it could have been really good. key phrase there being could have
sounds like someone's a bit
impatient
What it needs is a speed up button. I've scraped up a CE script to make the game go x6 faster by pressing down the mouse wheel, makes the game much more enjoyable.
The game actually does have a speed up button. Its called "full power" or something, and gives +75% speed for +100% consumed fuel. Just need to install a suppressor in order for your engine not to blow up your ship while using this. With it and a good engine you go very fast, actually in some cases faster than you'd like since between ports the "something awaits you" doesn't have time to refresh.
That's an overload button that has a chance to blow you up horribly. Unless you look up guides to find out the optimal routes and decisions to scrape up money for both the suppressor and a ship that can hold it, you'll sail slowly for a solid 4 to 6 hours or more. Basically, what you suggested is an end-game upgrade.
Its not entirely an end-game upgrade though.
The game is easily 100+ hours on a single run if you don't die and want to do the majority of the quests.
Early game kinda sucks, I agree, and you need that 8k Echos for Merchant cruiser to get Suppressor, but at least this is a goal actually worth working for and not some arbitrary meaningless objective.
Also, there is an alternative available now - a living ship, which you can get for free, which is capable of using suppressor. A new player can get this ship in 5-10 hours I believe.
Generally, the longer you play, the more rewarding options become available to you even with no / minimal use of any trading / trade routes.
