Taking up bagpipes in my mid-50’s and found your tutorial seriously easy to follow, with clear and distinct instructions for a beginner like me. Thanks heaps

Thank you so much! I’m scottish and I decided to learn the bagpipes so I ordered a very cheap chanter on amazon for 10 quid but it had good reviews so it came today, I thought it was out of tune and broken until I heard this video and realised it wasn’t! Thanks mate! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🏻💪🏻

Hi Craig. I'm 49 from New Zealand. I've played drums in a competing PB since the age of 10. Our 9 year old daughter has decided to learn the the pipes, I'll learn with her. I'll remain a band drummer but have always wanted to learn the pipes. Your site is great here, thankyou. Keep up the great work.

I recently got my first pipes. Couldn't have got this far without Graig's lessons. Best introduction to bagpipes on TH-cam.
    Cheers mate

Thank you for sharing your talent and teaching with us. I'm a more 'mature' learner and was frustrated to not find a local instructor. You fit the bill perfectly! Great, clear instruction. Thank you again!

About 10 years ago i started, got my practice chanter and went for lessons
First was also the scale up and down then gracenotes and doublings etc
Then when i had all wel in hand
Work got so much that i had to drop lessons
I Couldn’t practice and soon alm was lost
10 years later and i now decided
I wil go again, being 50 years and battling with memory already but will go for it
I still have my nice wooden chanter but the reeds are shot
The go close if just starting to blow
    Getting new ones then will
Follow your channel from start again
    Thanks

Can you recommend several brands of NOT too expensive, plastic practice chanters? Thank you.

Hi craig, I noticed that my practice chanter, as well as yours, starts from G# instead of the low G neutral. Is this a common variation, or should it be tuned differently?

  • @paulharbach5901
    @paulharbach5901 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm trying to get the low G.All holes are covered. The low note is much lower than your low G.
Just got a Barefoot 18 inch practice chanter.
Does the reed need trimming to get it to the low G ?
    What are your suggestions?

Does this work if you want to play the bombard chanter? I am really interested in buying one but can't find lessons on how to play the instrument online.

pinky on/off the D makes no difference in tone. Is it just for static reasons? Same with C

You would hear a difference on the great highland bagpipe so we learn this way on the practice chanter.
