Thanks Man!! Ha, I like your evening plans, that sounds like a great end of the day, complete for sure! I do the same thing to end any day on a great great note!! Thanks for watching again Bud!! : )
Seeing the sandpaper reminds me a lot of a typical day at work for me. I hope you've been doing well, and out of curiosity when can we expect the next livestream?
Hey Man thanks! I can't wait either! By the way, I have read your messages, sorry for not getting back to them yet, I have been extremely busy!! Anyway, thanks for watching Bud!! : )
If it doesn't run, will you change your channel name to Mit and Hissyfits? Ha ha...I'm sure it will go. You seem to have the "touch" with these old classics. Thanks for saving another one from the scrapper!
Ha! More like "Hit and why bother fits"!! Yeah I have confidence in these old tough motors, I am sure it will run too. I love working on old stuff, I wish it was my job! When ever I can save ANYTHING from the darn scrappers I do it, I hate when things get scraped, it hurts my heart bad! Anyway, thanks for watching Bud!! : )
thank you for showing me, how to clean the engine up, I guess one of the difference are between zxb nxb is yours is 2 cylinder and mine zxb is 4-cylinder. I might be wrong
very nice job, the reason why that engine is rated higher than the 4 cylinder on the generator is the Military always derates there equipment primarily to make it last longer. also the generator runs at contain 1800 or 1500 rpms depending on the Hzs(hertzs) that is required, that engine most likely runs at 3600rpms max so normally that twin would have a higher output, but if the 4 cylinder was running at 3600 rpms and not a military gen set then it would be about 22hp?
Saw one of these on an old combine once. And they were almost on all tractors in the 20s 30s and 40s hope ya get her running be really cool once ya do. Ps are ya going to pant it? If so what color?
Yeah the Hercules engines sure got around back in the day! I hope I get her running too Man, I bet it will sound pretty neat!! I am not sure if I will paint it or not, probably not. If I were to paint anything, I would do it 100% RIGHT, no corners cut. But the problem with that is I don't have the time or the patience!! : ) But if I did paint it, I would paint it the original color and style. Thanks for watching again Bud!! : )
Maybe Jonathan can chime in and correct me if I am wrong But that looks to be a even fire dist cap on a odd fire engine I am not familiar with the Hercules But Wisconsin had both a even fire and odd fire 2 cyl parallel engines THD and TJD So it it may be possible to install the wrong cap Man they were rough running engines
As far as I know it;s the right cap, because you can see that the spark timing matches up to the positions of the pistons. But we will see when I try starting it!! : )
Well the mag is 'gear reduced' like any mag of it's kind, but the reason you hear a "click" and not a spark, is because the other cylinder is on it's power stroke, so the other spark plug fires, and vice versa. Plus I did not have the plugs grounded well. Thanks for watching!! : )
I like the looks of this little motor. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, so do I Man, sometimes the way an engine looks just attracts you in some way! Your very welcome and thanks for watching again Bud!! : )
Cleaned up nice. Interested to hear it run. Please keep the videos coming, guys.
Can't wait to here it run
Me too Man, me too!! Thanks for watching!! : )
Neat little motor.

+HitandMissfits "That's alright man I can wait. Keep working hard".
They also used that engine in the 1939 to 1941 John Deere unstyled L.
Jonathan W really?? I knew that engine looked familiar
Cool Jonathan! I will have to look up a video of that!! Thanks for watching again Bud!! : )

Bitchin' lil' motor. I discovered your channel thru RoadKing. Love it! .. Newk from Kentucky

Hey buddy I have the same engine, I'm just curious what's difference between zxb and nxb. There's a lot more parts for your type of
I have to replace the head gasket on a 1941 L ... what torque settings for the head bolts?
What's the firing order? ;-) Looking forward to seeing it cleaned up and running. Cheers -
The engine fires 360 degrees out, like a John Deere tractor. Yeah I can't wait to have her going myself!
Thanks for watching, CHEERS!! : )

The motor might fire up you never know old motors are so tough
Yeah I thought I heard something out in the garage last night, Ha Ha!! And they are TOUGH for sure!! : )
I see you've got an exhaust valve hanging up
Result! For parts, you might contact Keith Rucker at Vintagemachinery.org , he has a huge library of old manuals.
Hey thanks for the tip, I will definitely have to give Keith a call, I sure could use some manuals around the garage!! Thanks for watching Bud!! : )

That is a very cool engine I would have been in hog heaven to have had that engine when I was his age

Yeah I was pretty exited when I got her!! I think she's neat too!! : )
If anyone can get this going, it's you
Hey Man, thanks!! I appreciate your confidence in me!! I sure hope I can get her running!! Thanks for watching again Stephen!! : )
OK
I think i figured it out
The mag is turning 1 to 1 with the crank that also explains the wasted spark
Well the mag is 'gear reduced' like any mag of it's kind, but the reason you hear a "click" and not a spark, is because the other cylinder is on it's power stroke, so the other spark plug fires, and vice versa. Plus I did not have the plugs grounded well. Thanks for watching!! : )
