Love at the 5:15 point how Christian pilots them out of the dreamy stratosphere to the haunting void of space. Both him and Simon are completely in sync. Beautiful.

@@Palace-of-Madness Neil and Rachel's conception of the band changed radically when Christian joined, so I'll respectfully disagree. They are all very important, but Christian is the key.
I mean. Holy S. Let's be real. That's a coordinated wall of strings, bass, vocals and drums. And they invented that depth of mood. Bravo. Outstanding. Worthy of the journey it takes you on. And inarguably a terrific contribution to the art of music.

I first heard this song 7 years ago, it has stuck with me ever since.. What an absolutely mind blowing and angelic performance! Goosebumps, tears, euphoria.... no band makes me feel quite like Slowdive do.

Matt Steyer I think the first time I heard them playing sort live was in a video were they were in a studio with no vocals at all and just the bass and the guitars and the drums. Then that haunting sound emerged were it kept developing and growing and kind or roaring out bur it sounded like nature or the ocean if those natural elements could speak (: It sounded like the ocean speaking or singing rather loudly(: And I was totally blown away (: Because I havent heard anything like that since echoes one pink floyds earlier albums were they were doing something simuliar (: Then too find out later that Floyd was a influence too the lead nale vocalist and awesome guitarist was also surprising (: But for Slowdive too take that sound and then transform it into something so organic and just literally scream birth too the level as I got it which was nature sort of speaking too you or singing too you was beyond words (: I knew then that I was in the presence of a real fantastic group.back then in 1991 that had a very powerful and above sureal sound and they able too play and tap into that sound quite easily (: A very above talented band that was not just another ordinery shoegaze band (: They were not another lush even thow lush was a great band also but Slowdive was definately ahead of the pack and til this day are too me as far as the shoegaze genre is concern defunately the absolute very best (: Nobody has that sound other than them (: So yes too me the best (:

1 yr ago i attended Slowdive's concert. So dreamy, so touched. The music, the vibe makes me feel both being hugged by the sound and detaching from reality.
If there is one regret that is i didn't bring my boy with me. To share him the same feeling i can never pass to him by words.

Micah Newman Think the vocals are a little too loud on the mix and they could have thrown more reverb on them too. If they'd have done that and added the reverse hi hat sound that pans across the studio version it would have been about spot on.
They sound amazing live, it’s unlike anything else
I generally think they sound better and do the arrangements better live, but you're right - the studio version of this is untouchable. It's that they can't reproduce the drum and vocal effects on stage. Neil's guitar is too dry in these 2010s versions as well.
