Just reading info (in form of pictograms, since text written about it would already be taken away by it) about ••|•••••|••|• wouldn't trigger any reaction from ••|•••••|••|•, but writing that info down in text form or speaking it out loud would make it appear. (as far as the pictograms on its SCP documentation indicate) 2. It's not really clear if ••|•••••|••|• harms whoever speaks about it. It's shown that when info about it is written down in text, it takes that text and disappears with it. If someone speaks about it, it takes that person and disappears with them. It can't harm Joe, but it could probably still take him away to wherever it takes things (unharmed).

Though perhaps that is also because, in the SCP foundation it would be perceived as natural for a human to start crying in such places.

Something I just thought of. This SCP could be the 'Silent Protagonist'. No matter what people say to it, it itself cannot respond and the player adds in how THEY would respond to it. The Silent Protagonist cant die because they will respawn, either from a checkpoint or a previous save. "I could say or do anything and you wouldn't notice or care". Just like how real people dont care if you kill all the NPC's in Elder Scrolls or when you take your time completing 'time sensitive' quests. Only thing about this this hypothesis is, if hes the main character, who's the player and what's the game?

His words and actions always seem unremarkable and normal to any observers, but you can still see he's present. He doesn't seem to be able to change what he looks like. Run his picture through facial recognition software and invoke the magic of the modern surveillance state around his last known location. Expand the net until you find him, then send the appropriate MTF out with rubber bullets and instructions to aim high.

Even in towns subject to nuclear bombing and testing, many buildings are left at least partially unharmed, as nukes don't obliterate everything, and while the shock wave is powerful, we see natural occurrences more powerful. It's the rads and fallout that cause real harm, and actually leave a so called 'nuclear shadow'.

@Luna That's right, both 096 and 682 have surrendered since both are impossible to kill. SCP-1504 cannot be attacked, injured or killed. This means that 1504 could literally look 096 in the face and punch him, 096 would continue to remain docile to whimper. But let's assume that 096 tries to attack 1504. 1504 cannot be injured or die. "SCP-1504: ...I am going to step outside this room and take the guard's gun. I'm going to shoot myself with that gun and nothing, fuckin 'nothing, is going to happen." 1504 has probably attempted to commit suicide in multiple ways, but to no avail. So if 096 tried to attack 1504, not only would he not be able to kill him, but he wouldn't even be able to make him a scratch. The same goes for a hypothetical clash between 682 and 1504.

I thought about the hell it would be to be an immortal. You'd watch your loved ones (family and friends) die. The world would rapidly change. This is due to our perception of time. The reason why we feel time flies as we get older is that the ratio of time in any given instance (be it a: day, week, etc.) gets smaller. For example one year to a a three year-old vs one year to a fifty year-old. It would become increasingly more difficult to relate to people and form any sort of bond with them. You might even view it as futile to even successfully form a bond any kind as it would seem like a lot of work for a small amount of time.
I personally don't think he effects electronics in the way that the researchers implied. I think that he simply goes to the computers or controls and screws with them manually, and no one notices.

He alters perception, but isn't 100% anti-memetic. They could theoretically interview him if they conduct an interview, stating to Joe what they understand about him, and ask him a set of fixed questions that are unaffected by the answers they perceive him giving. They then go out, filter out his responses as they did for the first interview to get his actual responses. Rinse and repeat. But apparently, they deemed it too dangerous to keep him conscious at all.

1504 has always been one of my favorites. The way it's presented, with a strange situation, followed by a retroactive revelation of the true nature, is great stuff.
This SCP reminds me of a punishment in Eldest, a book from The Inheiritance Cycle (AKA Eragon), where the most severe punishment the dwarven race could give to one of their own was to basically unperson them. They would be struck from all records, all people would ignore him, and if they had to restrain him, treat him like an object.
The dwarf this was done to put the entirety of Alagaesia at risk by attempting to have assassins kill Eragon, and as such received the punishment of being un-personed.

Lol, here is my theory if anyone wants to read. This makes me feel like he's a glitch in the system. Like there are 2 of him existing in 2 different dimensions. While he is still in his dimension, his actions, speech, or even the results influenced by those actions are being perceived by the surrounding people as that of the other dimension, he might even stare 096 in the face and it would sit there if the other "him" doesn't look at it at the same time, location, etc. Since he's a glitch, he can't die. To confirm this theory, the foundation should first capture him and ask if his name is really Joe and then decode his response or whatever they did at the end. If he confirms that and acts surprised because he never really gave them his name, this theory is likely true. Dimensions are not something new in the scp world. Maybe the Joe that everyone perceives doesn't even understand the weird and horrible stuff happening around him everywhere he goes, which is actually the other Joe's doings. That's why he cried. 2 dimensions so similar they overlap each other, the only difference is him. One may think his immortality is related to the incredibly bad luck to anyone around him (similar to SCP 1440), while the other thinks he's ignored and tries everything to be noticed, not knowing that he's practically invisible because everyone around him doesn't actually see him as who he really is. That's my theory and it clicked when he said "virtual". What do you guys think?
I remember there's a certain scp that will absorb it's surrounding if someone come into it's range with the acknowledgement of a number or the scp's powers. Wonder what happens if you put joe next to it.
I personally think the following: All the weird things happening while he's around are due to no one listening to him, and everyone ignoring the things he says. All the SCP's being freed, all the technology having "hiccups" was from him escaping containment. No one was aware that he was wandering around, tampering with things. All they knew was that he'd escaped. By dumb luck, or him going back to his cell, he returned to containment. The first audio recording is what the researchers and other staff heard, including the interviewer. The second audio recording is what actually went down. We were hearing what actually happened, the nose bleed in the first recording was ignored, but now that we know what actually happened during that recording, we know that he punched him. This man just wants to die.
When I was younger I thought that It would be fun to be invisible or invincible. Glad I wasn't because living in a containment cell along with monsters and having to be studied and tested on by scientists and having to live with creatures that can easily rip and tear you apart in 1000 different ways. Seems very stressful...

It gives Resistance to Mnemonic effects. You can survive a touch from the Plague Doctor, but not him rubbing your face. And it's difficult to say if 1504's effects are Mnemonic in nature.
Fair, but doing anything with 714 on is really hard. Most people will just put it on and take a nap. They'd probably need to be constantly slapping a D-class or Researcher to keep them awake to do the interview. But there's also 1504's aspect. They'll never feel the need to talk to him. Someone will make the plan, then it'll be forgetten before the plan gets to the right authorisation.
Now that i think about it, this guy is the most dangerous scp He can do anything, literally anything without being noticed or anyone caring. as a matter of fact, and because he cant be harmed he can easily get away with it too. If he felt like it he could end the world at any second and nobody could do anything to stop him.

The only thing that made you able to hear him through recording (from my understanding) is you weren't listening/ watching the recording in real time. As a matter of fact you have never seen this man before. There would have to be a new person listening every time or a very strong delay.

Something I just thought of. This SCP could be the 'Silent Protagonist'. No matter what people say to it, it itself cannot respond and the player adds in how THEY would respond to it. The Silent Protagonist cant die because they will respawn, either from a checkpoint or a previous save.

This means that 1504 could literally look 096 in the face and punch him, 096 would continue to remain docile to whimper.
But let's assume that 096 tries to attack 1504.
1504 cannot be injured or die.

1504 has probably attempted to commit suicide in multiple ways, but to no avail.
So if 096 tried to attack 1504, not only would he not be able to kill him, but he wouldn't even be able to make him a scratch.

I thought about the hell it would be to be an immortal. You'd watch your loved ones (family and friends) die. The world would rapidly change. This is due to our perception of time. The reason why we feel time flies as we get older is that the ratio of time in any given instance (be it a: day, week, etc.) gets smaller. For example one year to a a three year-old vs one year to a fifty year-old. It would become increasingly more difficult to relate to people and form any sort of bond with them. You might even view it as futile to even successfully form a bond any kind as it would seem like a lot of work for a small amount of time.
not to mention that he's gonna live out his immortal life confined in a 3x3x3 cell.

But, by the nature of SCP-1504. People don't talk to him. They don't notice him. They never feel like talking to him. So they'll only have the 1 recording of the interview you have to have with all new SCP's.

He alters perception, but isn't 100% anti-memetic. They could theoretically interview him if they conduct an interview, stating to Joe what they understand about him, and ask him a set of fixed questions that are unaffected by the answers they perceive him giving. They then go out, filter out his responses as they did for the first interview to get his actual responses. Rinse and repeat.
But apparently, they deemed it too dangerous to keep him conscious at all.

This SCP reminds me of a punishment in Eldest, a book from The Inheiritance Cycle (AKA Eragon), where the most severe punishment the dwarven race could give to one of their own was to basically unperson them. They would be struck from all records, all people would ignore him, and if they had to restrain him, treat him like an object.

1504 could be very useful if it wasn't for his aggressive behavior.
I mean with the ability to never be harmed he could be the ultimate class C personnel to help contain other SCPs.
Perhaps SCP-999 might fix his behavior. Although i think SCP-999 is just gonna perceive him as a normal non-depressed person.
For the personnel he's only a man Who cannot be harmed, but he actually Is a man that can't be noticed anytime by no one, including the Foundation.

Lol, here is my theory if anyone wants to read.
This makes me feel like he's a glitch in the system. Like there are 2 of him existing in 2 different dimensions. While he is still in his dimension, his actions, speech, or even the results influenced by those actions are being perceived by the surrounding people as that of the other dimension, he might even stare 096 in the face and it would sit there if the other "him" doesn't look at it at the same time, location, etc. Since he's a glitch, he can't die. To confirm this theory, the foundation should first capture him and ask if his name is really Joe and then decode his response or whatever they did at the end. If he confirms that and acts surprised because he never really gave them his name, this theory is likely true. Dimensions are not something new in the scp world. Maybe the Joe that everyone perceives doesn't even understand the weird and horrible stuff happening around him everywhere he goes, which is actually the other Joe's doings. That's why he cried. 2 dimensions so similar they overlap each other, the only difference is him. One may think his immortality is related to the incredibly bad luck to anyone around him (similar to SCP 1440), while the other thinks he's ignored and tries everything to be noticed, not knowing that he's practically invisible because everyone around him doesn't actually see him as who he really is. That's my theory and it clicked when he said "virtual". What do you guys think?

I personally think the following:
All the weird things happening while he's around are due to no one listening to him, and everyone ignoring the things he says. All the SCP's being freed, all the technology having "hiccups" was from him escaping containment. No one was aware that he was wandering around, tampering with things. All they knew was that he'd escaped. By dumb luck, or him going back to his cell, he returned to containment.
The first audio recording is what the researchers and other staff heard, including the interviewer. The second audio recording is what actually went down. We were hearing what actually happened, the nose bleed in the first recording was ignored, but now that we know what actually happened during that recording, we know that he punched him. This man just wants to die.

When I was younger I thought that It would be fun to be invisible or invincible. Glad I wasn't because living in a containment cell along with monsters and having to be studied and tested on by scientists and having to live with creatures that can easily rip and tear you apart in 1000 different ways. Seems very stressful...

They should have used "The Jaded Ring" (SCP-714) and interview SCP-1504. It could prevent the side-effects from SCP-1504

It gives Resistance to Mnemonic effects. You can survive a touch from the Plague Doctor, but not him rubbing your face. And it's difficult to say if 1504's effects are Mnemonic in nature.

Fair, but doing anything with 714 on is really hard. Most people will just put it on and take a nap. They'd probably need to be constantly slapping a D-class or Researcher to keep them awake to do the interview.
But there's also 1504's aspect. They'll never feel the need to talk to him. Someone will make the plan, then it'll be forgetten before the plan gets to the right authorisation.

wait... but the recording was able to recognize what he was truly saying, so couldn't they just record him, and talk to him through a speaker as they watch and listen to him through a camera ? also which spc's would or wouldn't notice him ? could he theoretically be used as an indestructible agent to secure other scp's ? surely there must be some way of communicating with him... and controlling him of course.

The only thing that made you able to hear him through recording (from my understanding) is you weren't listening/ watching the recording in real time. As a matter of fact you have never seen this man before. There would have to be a new person listening every time or a very strong delay.
