idk how Aaron didn't see the relationship getting worse with each episode, without even a great starting point for them. In season 1 episode 5 Beth was already prepared to leave Jerry (for a Meeseeks) because she wasn't happy with her situation. And ever since Jerry lost his job she lost more respect for him every episode. These "getting back together" moments were always a kind of artificial high for them, they were forced and didn't come from them truly working out their problems. Maybe it's only when you rewatch the episodes that you notice these things, but for my first time watching it I really didn't think their seperation was unexpected or weird
If you have an understanding of toxic or codependent relationships, Jerry and Beth's relationship should be easily noticeable through the 1st and 2nd season....not noticing it immediately is understandable if one is still uncertain as to their intentions or motives, but after learning of their codependent relationship, Beth's superiority complex, Jerry's jealousy, and BOTH of their hefty insecurities, there ain't much excuse in still defending their marriage up to this point.
I find it really difficult to even form a theory of mind for a person who doesn't understand that a relationship propelled by fights and grand gestures is basically the definition of doomed.
Jerry gave Beth an ultimatum and chose her father, highlighting Beth's need for him in her life. If Jerry never made that ultimatum they would've probably stayed together
Not really. The pair were never a good one even in season 1, and I'd say that the ultimatum was just the moment when they both, even if temporarily, gave up.
I think you guys are also forgetting what finally caused Beth and Jerry's relationship to hit its breaking point, which is Beth's devotion to her father. With every problem we saw in previous episodes between Beth and Jerry, there was always some sort of compromise reached or something that distracted them from their problem or that let them put it off until later (not saying any of these are good things). But when Jerry made the ultimatum of either him or Rick, there was no way around the fact that Beth had to choose, especially since she's terrified of Rick just abandoning her again like when she was a kid. So while their divorce may seem like a sudden thing to you guys, there is still a pretty easy to identify trigger that caused it.
"Your mom's lawyer said if I get enough on the settlement, HE can help me sue for full custody." The joke is that Jerry can't even afford his own attorney.
As far as not quite having the same basis for post-episode discussion as most other shows have, just wait until 3x07. Can't wait to hear what you guys think on that one.
WRT the Jerry / Beth relationship - it never was great and only worked because Jerry put himself second to Beth. It only stopped working when he made the ultimatum about her dad - which always was more important than Jerry to her - which then immediately led to the divorce. In this way the story progression makes a lot of sense.
yes and the reason why rick is more important to beth than jerry is because she has abandonment issues. she doesnt want him to leave her again. some major daddy issues
Relextor yeah I think that about Jerry too, but I don’t think he was calling Aaron pathetic per se, but rather saying that the act of identifying too much with Jerry itself is a little pathetic
Aaron have you heard of a codependent relationship? They couldn't leave each other Even though they were having problems. At some point they just have to do it. They are always on the verge.
I think the divorce thing makes sense. Yeah they always go back and forth, but that is because they have a toxic, codependent relationship. They didn't get married because they fell in love, they got married because she got pregnant with Summer. Do they care for each other after so many years, very likely, but the ping ponging of their relationship kept happening because they would just decide to brush off the real problems and be like "aww we do love each other." Some of that likely has to do with Jerry just backing off and putting himself second. The moment he puts forth that ultimatum of me or your dad, I'm not coming in second anymore, the relationship is over. Beth is so worried about losing Rick again that she was never gonna choose Jerry over him. That was the moment that neither of the could just brush aside the major problems in their marriage.
I'm in Switzerland now and took a long hike where I got lost, now I finally made it home and my hands are freezing the fuck off. Basically, a rick and morty reaction is just what I need.
It's just so incredibly toxic. I knew that, realistically, their relationship wouldn't last much longer, and I honestly was shocked, but not that shocked when they decided to get a divorce.
When Rick said there was only _a certain number of times_ they could jump to different realities, he was referring to using it as an *ex machina* plot device for the show; it's just him being meta. 😄
I just realized, these guys are going to be in for a real treat on Christmas day when they see what Rick becomes. You all know what I'm talking about. This is gonna be good. :)
From what I understand, the divorce storyline, is directly used by Dan Harmon as a way to deal with issues in his own divorce. (If you watch the very end with the company "cards" Dan Harmon's "Harmonious Claptrap" company card changes from Season2 to Season 3.
Jerry and Beth have always had issues and it was close to reality that they went back and forth trying to stay together. Jerry made Beth choose and she picked Rick.
No, I'm pretty sure he does understand how toxic relationships work, he's just of the opinion that they didn't show enough of the toxic parts, especially when considering some episodes end with the notion that their relationship can work, even if it's only conditionally.
He sees every time Jerry and Beth "solved" their problems in every episode as proof that their relationship works when is actually proof of the opposite. We didn't see a gradual degradation of their marriage because their marriage has always been shitty, even before "the show started".
PCGaming I hate episodes featuring too much Beth or summer. Except for the Battery-planet one. Am I sexist maybe, maybe not. I don’t know. Who cares it’s the internet.
PCGaming I hate episodes featuring too much Beth or summer. Except for the Battery-microverse one. Am I sexist maybe, maybe not. I don’t know. Who cares it’s the internet.
Every time Beth and Jerry have reconciled, it has been due to dramatic - even traumatic - events, but single events don't address the underlying issues of a relationship, and so the problems persist. On the opposite side, it only takes a single decision to trigger the divorce and Rick has been pushing Beth in that direction for a long time by this point. Of course, by traditional romantic comedy / drama rules, the powerful romantic act *can* in fact fix a fundamentally broken relationship, so it's understandable that you would expect those events to have this effect on this show as well.

Ex Libris I actually liked this episode better watching it a second time after the season ended. I think the hype was too high when this premiered because 3x1 had been one of the series best episodes.
Do you think Kronenberg world Summer Jerry and Beth are dead now? The Ricks came in and freeze rayed them before they killed new Summer, and I think they just left them like that?
When Dan Harmon was originally plotting out 'Community' his plan was that each season would line up with a stage in his "story circle" and i beleive that he is going the same thing with rick and morty. Briefly the stages are: 1. YOU = establish the protagonist (rick and morty go on adventures) 2. NEED = something is desired or wanted 3. GO = characters decide to set forth into a special world 4. SEARCH = collect allies and develop new skills 5. FIND = approach the inner chamber where you find what you were looking for 6. TAKE = paying a cost for getting what you thought you want and deciding to return 7. RETURN = the process of fighting your way, with new skills and returning to the home environment 8. CHANGE = apply what you found to the original setting...
and this relates to realizing things about rick's fight against the galactic empire or Beth and Jerry's marriage (1. unhappy couple in a routine 2. couple has serious problems 3. couple splits,,,)
Does anybody know which video of theirs was the one where the intro is calvin doing a sinister laugh and aaron is just turning red dying of laughter? Been looking for that video and cannot find it.
The beauty of this show is that it's simultaneously horrific and humorous. But that's a true representation of real life, right? How many times have you looked back on some messed up shit from your past but in hindsight you can't help but chuckle. Laugh or cry. Life is short people...just laugh.
I think the writer of the show and his wife got divorced before writing this season. If that's the case than the back and forth between Beth and Jerry could have been him showing his own life's struggle, and this season shows their relationship at its end
Why do they keep bringing up the part where Rick said they can jump between dimension a certain amount times. It's just a joke on storytelling. And the divorce thing, they always come across someone who would say that their relationship sucks and they shouldn't be together so that when the divorce actually happens it wouldn't surprise us as much.
Would Morty's first murder be Krombopulos Michael? If that even really counts. Fart would be the next. Unless I'm forgetting something earlier on from the series.
_"How many people has Morty killed?"_ Does getting them turned into kronenbergs because he wanted to roofie his crush count..?
Does changing one person to a monster count as killing someone?
@@noiko4418I would say no cause that means if you kill their kronenberg self you’d be killing them twice

Jerry gave Beth an ultimatum and chose her father, highlighting Beth's need for him in her life. If Jerry never made that ultimatum they would've probably stayed together
And put them all in danger (or therapy, when not)
Captain Birch I know, right
Almost as bad as blowing an 8-1 lead playing mlb the show
back together regardless of it lol
Not really. The pair were never a good one even in season 1, and I'd say that the ultimatum was just the moment when they both, even if temporarily, gave up.
You're very right about not being able to predict what'll happen next. don't think, given 100 years, you'd ever predict what'll happen next episode
Maybe not next episode, but they did predict part of a future episode.
I think you guys are also forgetting what finally caused Beth and Jerry's relationship to hit its breaking point, which is Beth's devotion to her father. it was shown that they don't mix together with that party episode where they went to a couples thing
tiny rick episode
Great. Now Chetreo's remix of "I'm alive" is in my mind and I can't get it out...
Video came out today but your comment is from a week ago
Yes! The scene of robot Morty felt weird-paced without the remix form!
Fuck now it’s in my head.....
It was litteraly playing in my head during this scene. I can't ear normal robot Morty anymore !
Damn you for mentioning it, now you made ME remember it, and now it's stuck in my head.

@@sagetheassassin3192 no he blows the horn that says loser in the Jelly Spotters episode
Just shows how tough and adaptable Summer is
Like I said in season 2, Aaron identifies with Jerry a little too closely.
MoonStar What if he's the Jerry of our reality?😱
★ Froggie Animation ★ Thats a bit cruel

My absolute favorite Summer-episode so far, even if she's not the main focus. She's a straight-up savage.
One of the weaker ones of the show imo, but still kinda good. Can't wait for 3x7 man, best one of the entire show.
Ex Libris yeh 3x7 is fucking amazing
I liked the pickle episode, it just has been overused in memes and stuff. But Ricklantis absolutely blew me away.
As a mad max fan, i thought this episode was a masterpiece ! The moment with the robot morty and summer where top fun imo
Ex Libris I actually liked this episode better watching it a second time after the season ended. I think the hype was too high when this premiered because 3x1 had been one of the series best episodes.
Yeah, 3X7 is one the best episodes of TV in general, would make my top 10.
Can't wait for episode 7

They never killed "new" summer..... remember our Rick came back and infiltrated the citidal of Rick's to save them/overthrow

Jerry is wearing what must be the epitome of a "Dad jacket"
I always find it satisfying when Rick gets punched by Morty's strong arm.

hope they notice the guest voice actor

Still five weeks left to the gold episode.
The end tho dang that wolf 🤣🤣🤣
Wait...why can’t I find your video on Episode 1?
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.

Cannot wait for 3x7
you made me use my super hack powers(google) to watch ep 1! why!!!! you were my favorite!!!
I love hearing the voice of Joel McHale of Community is in this ep he is too funny.
Great episode
I think the writer of the show and his wife got divorced before writing this season.
If that's the case than the back and forth between Beth and Jerry could have been him showing his own life's struggle, and this season shows their relationship at its end
Is there any way I can watch the previous two reactions that are apparently not available in my country?
Blind wave, Why have you made Rick and Morty 3x1 REACTION unavailable in my country?!
I was really looking forward to your reaction on that!
5 more episodes until my favorite episode
Why is their reaction to season 3x1 blocked in my country? I live in the US.
New to this channel, but I am loving ya'll's reactions to Rick and Morty. Can ya'll do one for Boruto?
Rick probably installed some device on Jerry to wisper "LOOSSSERRR"
Your reaction to episode 3x1 says it’s unavailable in my country 🙁 (Ireland)
where's the previous episode
Why do they keep bringing up the part where Rick said they can jump between dimension a certain amount times. It's just a joke on storytelling. And the divorce thing, they always come across someone who would say that their relationship sucks and they shouldn't be together so that when the divorce actually happens it wouldn't surprise us as much.

Remember this is the Darkest Season they have. So, Aaron, enjoy... relax.

Your previous video doesn’t work
Idk if its just me but the last two episodes are banned for some reason
This episode is an homage to my favorite film of ALL TIME... No flamethrower guitar guy though... :(
Will it be episodes during the holidays ?
WHY CAN I NOT WATCH EP 3x1?
6:44 do I see Tim Tams?
It had nothing to do with Beth and jerry, it’s Beth’s attachments issues are stronger for keeping her father around than her love for her husband
I AM EXCITED FOR PICKEL RIIIICCCCCKKKKK
Why is 3x1 not available in my country :(
Why is reaction 3x1 blocked ?
I really hope all of you can see vindicaters 3
Does any one know why the 3X01 review is inavailable in Canada?
