Hi Kevin and good evening I managed the clutch in my T6 Transporter today all thanks to watching your video it was slightly easier than the one you did as i didn't have to bleed the clutch must say God your strong as that gearbox is really heavy just so you know im 61 and had no help just a good jack and many tools many thanks again for your videos have a great weekend 😊 cheers Paul
Honestly Mike. It was probably one of the heaviest boxes to lift. Heavier than the 2.5 version. I suppose it has to handle the power of the twin turbo.
Great work! Very strange, a bolt inside the starter motor housing. Very heavy gearbox, I think. That hook you use for the electrical connectors is almost magical. Very handy. Thanks for the video!
Great job that, reminded me when I done my Volvo 850. Sub frame down with everything disconnected on it and gearbox weighing a ton out on to it. Don’t know if you’ve considered getting a pressure bleeder, I’d highly recommend them. Not had one long but it’s great with no messing about pumping pedals up and down. Keep up the good work 👍
Real neat work as always, just wish I had those kind of tools years ago. Having said that some of these clutches you do would simply be to difficult & time consuming without them.
I love your videos, I am not a mechanic myself but I’ve done a few clutches over the years. When I was younger I used to think I could do anything, nowadays I know my limits and a get a real mechanic like yourself to do most jobs. Are there some make/model of cars that you just won’t do? Either because they are too time consuming or because they are not suited to doing outside on a driveway ?
Hi Kevin, thanks for posting this it has helped me a lot. Did you need to loosen anything off to get the drivers side drive shaft out? Mine is rock solid.
Bi turbo, didn't know they put them in transporters? Must fkin fly that thing!? Great video mate thanks so much! 14 minutes in.. looks like a right pain that job, mostly because of the position of the engine in the chassis, it being a camper. Smashing it as usual though! 👏
Since you always remove the left side wheel but your steering wheels are on the right side, does that mean than in other EU countries where steering wheel is on the left side i would have to remove right side wheel?
I don’t think that will be the case. Unless your whole engine is left to right. But maybe you may have to approach differently if the steering is on the opposite side … a bit hard for me to visualise unless I see a left hand drive version
@@WMCS Fair enough, great job as always. My 2014 V40 D2 still goes strong, I dont think that engine has enough power to wear down my clutch 😄, its an automatic tho i dont even know if clutch look the same or what they use.
@@Dreamlink91some modern automatic cars do indeed have a very similar clutch, though these are often referred to as semi-automatic, they have got more popular in the last 20 years, the first automatic I saw with a conventional clutch (though no clutch pedal) was a Smart Car. A “Normal” automatic has clutches inside the automatic transmission but you would have to remove and strip the automatic transmission to change these and it’s a really specialised job that would be done as part of a full auto transmission rebuild. So for all intents and purposes you can say that a normal automatic does not have a clutch as such. Kevin here does a proper job and replaces all the required parts, I did remember 20 years ago there were drive in clutch clinics in London that did £99 clutch repairs were all they did was change the friction plate, or even just drill out the rivets and attach new friction materials. This is common in parts of Asia where a days labour might be £5 for a skilled mechanic, but in the UK where labour is usually the highest cost it makes perfect sense to change the whole clutch assembly and of course the release bearing.
@@andrewstones2921 Yea my previous audi a6 c7 2014 was aswell as this volvo semi automatic. Kevin does amazing job yes. The reason i drive automatics is just that i preffer them more and i dont have to do those clutch swaps because in my country mathetial + job is around 3k Euros..pure insanity.
Hy Kevin.! Tn this manner,in few years, tou'll be forced -by the consequnces of this kind of heavy jobs - to retire. I think ''this'' were too much for you. Think that the health can't be ''fixed'' .If iwere in your shoes I said is too much for me and i passed on. Time doesn't forgive anybody...😇😇😇

Thanks for the feedback Paul. Great to hear it went well … check you out at 61 and going strong 💪
Hey Paul! I am 61 too, and i plan to do the same with my T6! Encouraging, that you achieved the goal!
@@WMCS Hi Kevin , what's the best make of clutch for T5.1 2.0l 2011. I read somewhere to avoid the Sachs & buy Luk.....confusing ?
I really appreciate the time you have take to show every aspect of the procedure, brilliant work...!
Absolutely amazing. Never thought I 'd see you do one of those monsters on a driveway!

Just did my t5 4motion, what a heavy gearbox, if you do this 5 days a week you don’t need to go to a gym!
Great work! Very strange, a bolt inside the starter motor housing. Very heavy gearbox, I think. That hook you use for the electrical connectors is almost magical. Very handy. Thanks for the video!
It’s almost the same as the 2.5 version. Just a really big heavy box.
Hi Kevin, Yet again everything done with military precision and the final attention to detail, wiping down the bodywork. 👍
It was a lovely van. A big gearbox tho. Very heavy this one was

Thanks Stephen. Volvo are naturally very heavy gearboxes. A lot of work on them. Thank know a lot of mechanics won’t touch them
Well done 👍 I'm going to fit one in my transporter today you have been very helpful cheers

U make it look so easy 🤣

You just have to knock it out with a good chisel and hammer.

What's the right angle cordless wrench your using mate. Need a new one and that one looks good?
It’s the Milwaukee fuel 3/8., the 1/4 drive is really handy to have as well.
Honestly I think they made it rival the 2.5. It’s more robust. Heavier torque and speed than the 2.5. It definitely goes.
@@WMCS thanks 👍
Hey Jem, be adviced to avoid the Biturbo buses at any cost. They will brake down and make you bankrupt!
