- Sierra and Lucas downsized into a DIY 380 square foot Tiny House on wheels. It's modern, with a stunning and spacious interior. They wanted a design that will allow them to grow their family, so the home includes an extra downstairs bedroom, a HUGE loft, a full bathroom w/ a tub, a full size washer & dryer, and a gorgeous kitchen. They live in an affordable new Tiny House community in Durango, Colorado.

D: The couple. They are just great. The people you film are just as important as the house they are showcasing. I wanna buy a tiny house just to be as joyful and visibly emotionally/mentally healthy as these two. The house is worth 75k, but the couple's vibe is priceless.

I think the larger dimensions make this home a far easier home for most people. Love it.
I like the living room. Most tiny homes barely have one. It looks so cozy.

God forbid, but I do wonder about fire spreading with structures so close together, and whether there is room for a fire truck to maneuver.
I thought the same.....but then.....thought if my current bs overpriced townhouse apartment...so it's Still better than an apartment which in my area is never under $1200 for a tiny 1 or 2 bed a month n you literally share walls. N get nothing back out of it when you move.

I loved that your wrote your "intentions" in the subfloor. We had our church family come and write scriptures in the studs behind the sheetrock in every room of the house. What a blessing!
When I first started to watch tiny homes videos ...I remember people saying budget that stayed below 10 grand and never more. Now the budgets rising up. As someone aspiring to go tiny someday, guess I need to boos my savings 😂
This couple is so sweet, and as someone who is currently 9 months pregnant but hopes to have a tiny space of our own someday, I really appreciate the thought they've put into "future-proofing" their tiny house.
Lovely home! What I don’t understand about tiny home villages is the crowding…
Plumbing and electrical fixtures cost money, the further out you take them. Think of it as a parking lot. The landowner has to consider how much they can afford to install without it costing too much money. The idea of a tiny home is necessarily to "get away from people," but the life virtually rent free.
That's probably prime location so they have to pack them in to make it viable.

I Love this Home!!! I agree with everyone regarding the community being so cramped. However, they could easily move, the house is portable. Likely searching for a better location before children are born. A great advantage of tiny homes. Please give us an update when you move. Thanks for the tour and great ideas. ❤️🕊️❤️
I love the house and everything you guys did. But, what I don't get is why you want that beautiful home on a huge asphalt parking lot inches away from neighbors. It would be so awesome in a rural country setting with a view of nature.
I agree. Maybe the nature is close by - a short walk - but it still seems like living in a fish bowl with the neighbours so close. Maybe their own property in a more rural setting is in their future. :)
My guess….less maintenance with a super busy lifestyle in a city that they love without heavy debt.

I didn't check if the plots are bought or rented.
That’s the beauty of a THOW- they can be moved. Perhaps finances keep them where they are at the moment, with a goal to own or rent land that’s more rural!
Great idea to put the noise insulation into the loft floor.
I absolutely love this house 😍 the additional full size appliances including the washer AND dryer makes this perfect 🤩
I can totally see bunk beds in the room downstairs for little people. Such a great home!
Ah that makes sense. I really wasn’t seeing how it would fit a family but if they are minimalist or get a storage shed it could work.
This is basically just a manufactured home park but on a smaller scale. People have been living like this for decades. In fact, "trailer parks" had MUCH smaller homes in them back in the 50s and 60s than they do now. Twelve feet wide at times! So we're kind of going back to that with these little communities.
Noticed this house immediately in the video about the community & wished I could see it. You granted my wish! And it is even better than I envisioned. Thank you.

Sierra and Luke this looks great. I can't wait to visit. Congratulations on everything going on❣️❣️ I have a measuring tape Papa gave me years ago. I also have Mark's measuring tape Papa had given him. And when Papa passed away, I ended up getting one that he used. Being an interior designer he always carried one in his pocket. Just wanted to share. Love you two can't wait to see you❣️❣️

I really liked this plan, I think it looks amazing, the only thing I don’t like, is where it’s located, it’s way way to close to the neighbors. I feel like the homes are too close together, like you can reach out and touch the neighbor.

@@rhondareed3002 Your idea is not bad but I would add two 20 twenty-foot containers for the two bedrooms because one 40 ft container for two bedrooms is not wide enough. I would have one 40ft container where the kitchen, bathroom and mud room / laundry room would be. And another 40ft container with two 20 ft containers attached for additional space for master bath with closet and hallway bathroom and second bedroom and have the living room in the center of the house. An easy affordable house that could be built within four months much faster than a traditional house of six to nine months!
Honestly what is the diff between the tiny home phenomenon and the trailer parks of the 70’s- this design is one of the nicest I have seen

I agree! She said she wanted to get away from people, so they built their new tiny home 5 feet away from their neighbor's tiny homes! Now they're very close to the neighbors. Love the house, but not the location!
Yes and another thing when it snows and it gets on that metal roof it’s going to slide right onto the people’s next door porch. That snow sliding off can be so dangerous!
The fact the owner has been a housing activist for many years and wanted to give people the opportunity to live comfortablely in a beautiful area for way less Affordable lol. Not into it for just the money. Is enough for me to live on top of my neighbor hahaha
The owner of this community has packed homes so close together. Without a porch/deck, hard to see where you might sit outside. When he was walking outside, he could touch the house next to his.
I use to live in Durango and honestly tiny homes are probably the only affordable option for people in their late 20s

Nice home but VERY close to the neighbours....looks like it might make the next door property dark inside as it looms over it. I wouldn't be happy if I lived next door!!.

I too have my Dad's old tape measure, as a kid I was always measuring things, and this one tape measure I always used. So Dad gave it to me years ago, and I treasure it now, since he has passed away! Reminds me of mobile home parks but even mobile home you’ll have some space for covered car port or parking space.
Great couple and well designed home. Very fortunate that her father is in construction as this house would cost more than twice that much if built by a tiny home builder. I agree with other comments about how close the houses are leaving zero room for privacy. With kids in the future, this lot will not provide any space for them around the outside of the home. Escalante Village is full and expensive. They do provide snow removal but I doubt that means in between each home. Regardless, this is an excellent home and constructed on a budget under $100k is remarkable.

Hope you create many happy memories there and feel blessed every day. It's obvious this process has brought you closer as a couple.
with the dimensions of their build, they really need a double lot to create a buffer between the neighbors. All of the snow is going to bury the yard on one side and make it impossible to walk between the two buildings on the other side. So, that's a major issue (however uncommon) that should be built into the leasing requirements of that community.

I love this house and it really shows how tiny homes are doable. But I agree the cramped parking lot ruins the experience. I dont even like how the "large" size overwhelms the other units. But hopefully this is a stepping stone to their own land or a more suitable tiny home village. I suppose we first need to prove to land developers that there is a demand for this kind of living. It really is no different than a well planned trailer park except that a community of tiny homes contain custom built and self built very attractive units. We need state and local laws to respond accordingly.
First, your new hairstyle is great! Second, this place looks amazing and doesn't feel like a tiny home, not at all! Having moved to the countryside about a year and a half ago, we totally get the way this couple decided to live from now on! Kudos guys, you won't regret this! Thanx for another beautiful video!

This is one of my favorite tiny home designs. Love the metal roof, siding and skirt.
Love the way they wrote words of love on the floor before adding the top layer. Those words will keep on sending out good vibrations without limit.

The reason this is so nice is because 15 wide and 40 long is huge. The most I have seen is 10 to 12 ft. Which is a wide load for transport. I think this is cabin size, and should be on a piece of land on it's own.

They live in Durango Colorado, quite away from the Sierra Mountains.
It was a pun. ‘Sierra’ in general means a range of mountains or hills. Not just mountains that are named ‘Sierra Nevada’, which simply means ‘snowy mountains’.
And from the looks of it, they live in a mountainous area. Durango *IS* at 6,000+ ft elevation.
‘Sierra Mountains’ literally means ‘Mountains Mountains’.

I really enjoyed this video on this couples home. I liked that they made tiny their own and designed what worked best for them and showed you don't have to minimize your appliances to still enjoy the benefits of living smaller. I think that sometimes scares people away from the idea , thinking of all that they lose instead of what they can gain. Beautiful job on this one :)

I think this is probably one of the best tiny houses I've ever seen and I like they didn't use every square inch to cram storage in. The only thing negative I'd say about it -and it isn't about the house - I would NOT want to be the tiny house on either side of them when the snow comes off their roof. Those houses are pretty close together!
