Sen. Belt Celebrates First EV Chargers Installed at Illinois State Parks

Thursday, State Senator Christopher Belt joined Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and other local leadership to announce a donation of multiple electronic vehicle chargers to the state from the electric mobility company EVBox. Visitors to #Illinois state parks will be able to conveniently charge their electric vehicles while camping overnight or stopping for an afternoon hike thanks to the company’s 40 Level 2 electric vehicle (#EV) chargers, which will be placed at Illinois state parks, historic sites, museums, beaches, and other widely used public areas.
Three of the chargers have been installed in state parks that are within 60 miles driving distance of St. Louis: Frank Holten State Park in East St. Louis, Eldon Hazlet State Recreation Area near Carlyle, and Washington County State Recreation Area near Nashville. A fourth charger was installed at Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area in Cass County in central Illinois.

I see from the notes that these chargers my be placed at State Historic sites as well. Are there plans to install some of these chargers at Cahokia Mounds State Historic site and/or Lewis and Clark (Camp River Dubois) state historic site? These Historic sites in our region that people from all over the country come to visit, so I urge that these locations be strongly considered for the Next round of these level 2 EV charger installations.
