Hi I’ve got a mk5 golf GTI TFSI and I’m having issues with lumpy idle I’ve change few things and had no luck I understand it’s not the same motor but wondering if could help with anything be massively appreciated 👍🏻👏🏻
Hey Dave, if it's not faulty ignition coils or spark plugs it could be the following - A vacuum leak. Common leaks come from the PCV valve or dipstick o ring being perished. Pull out the dipstick while it's idling, if the lumpyness doesn't differ, then it's a vacuum leak and you'll need to check the dipstick o ring, maybe replace it or replace the PCV valve (a good engine should pretty much nearly stall itself if the dipstick is removed) If that's not the issue, it could be a bad injector, they'll need removed and sent off for cleaning and testing. Finally worst case scenario is loss of compression on a cylinder or cylinders, that can be easily checked with a compression tester. Should be around 120-140 psi mark I think. I've videos on the dipstick and the PCV valve on my channel if u have a browse. Hope that helps 👍🏻
Best thing to do is before you remove the plug try and remove as much corrosion with either a cloth, or magnet, or even with a wire brush followed with a hoover that's got a small nozzle attachment on the end of it. Just to minimise the risk of anything falling into the cylinder once the plug is removed 👍🏻
I would say only buy it if you are experiencing any misfire issues currently. The OEM ones on the car will handle the extra power, but if they have covered 70/80K+ mileage, then they may be due a change soon, or start to show issues.
Then yeah coil packs and plugs would be 1st things to try, and if it still persists check pcv system isn't leaking, or that you have a vacuum leak in general. Injectors are another reason for misfires. Ideally, if u can get the car plugged into diagnostic software then it should help show what's causing the misfire. When my coil pack failed, I had a bad hesitation at about 3k revs when accelerating hard. This was a faulty coil pack. A year later I also had a misfire when the car idled, and that was a bad injector.
My ones are the R8 style OEM coil packs from awesome GTi. Very similar to the NGK ones, and the red top is pretty much just for the look. The electric components inside are usually all the same idea and OEM spec 👍🏻
@@NorthCoastWorkshop thanks for reply, okee there not stronger as the oem? thats what i heard, i got the original engine cover so i dont see the red color 🤣, next month i get a open air intake 👊👌
I'm not 100% sure if they're stronger. Some say it's a myth, some swear by these upgraded ones, in my case, as long as they work I'm happy 😄 Nice, let me know how u get on with the intake and how it sounds 👍🏻
@@NorthCoastWorkshop just installed the coilpacks and plugs what a difference 👌 engine feels much better, yeah i think next week im gonna order the oversized ramair proram intake, cant wait to hear the turbo spool and suction noise 😍
You are braking them from shaking 😂
As always great video mate 😎
🤣 I promise I didn't shake the new ones!!
Cheers and thanks for watching 😊👍🏻

I have a Seat leon 2.0 tfsi, tuned it has over 280 Horsepower. should i buy This R8 kit?

I have misfiring issues right now.
