    You'll be happy to know just after this video dropped, Tim released an unplugged playthrough on his channel. I wish he'd do it for more tracks, because like you said, it's so cool to actually see the technicality and not just a couple seconds at a time. Fun video as usual!

      Actually both Scott and the drummer did play through as well.

    Scott Lepage is the other guitarist and I think he is every much as fantastic as Tim, maybe more laidback but damn he's good.

      I usually enjoy his parts more, but realize what sets Tim apart is he composes all the tracks

    • @TheLegendaryZed
      @TheLegendaryZed 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it isnt really as cut and dry as Tim composing most of the tracks. he typically writes the hook and outlines the progression of the track but they all do a lot of writing of their own parts as well. Tim and Scott are co-credited as producers on most tracks and there are a lot of writers aside from Tim, both within the band and with other musicians that they work with.

    I think you nailed it. Polyphia only ever plays in 4/4. Their cord progressions are simple. They show that you don't have to get all crazy with time signatures and whatnot to make deeply layered music, and BECAUSE they don't get all fucky with the time signatures, it makes the music a lot more accessible to people who didn't go to Juilliard.

      Definitely agree. There's always a driving quarter note division that everyone can move to.

    2nd guitarist is Scott LePage, and Clay Aeschliman has been with them since _Renaissance,_ he's an absolute beast of a drummer with such a unique style, he's been with them since 2016. Prior to that their drummer was Brandon Burkhalter, _Muse_ was his last album before leaving.

    2:13 Giorgio Tsoukalos would sum this song up perfectly, "I'm not saying it's aliens, but it's aliens."
    I have to recommend the magnum opus of Unleash The Archers. This song is the climax "chapter" of the story that is told over 2 albums(Apex 2017 and Abyss 2020). It's the final battle between the protagonist and antagonist. Since the band composes the music around the story(lyrics), so it really highlights the story. It has a dark feel during the battle; the music calms when the protagonist enters the eye of the hurricane caused by the antagonist; the music jumps to a major, victorious feel when the battle is won, then back to a sad minor feel when the protagonist realizes his partner is fatally wounded. All in all, it's just an amazingly written track in all aspects.
    Please react to(if possible) The Wind That Shapes The Land by Unleash The Archers. There is only official audio on TH-cam, but it is well worth it. 🤘🇨🇦

    The drummer in the video is Clay Aeschliman. He has been in Polyphia since 2016, meaning that he was in New Levels New Devils, but not in Aviator (from Muse). Clay did not record their 2016 album, Renaissance, the old drummer did, even though Clay appears in the music videos.

    First person to notice Paco de Lucia influence. Also they problaby have listened to a lot of Bossa Nova (Tom and Vinicius) to create that jazzy-bossa nova verse.

  • @keithhoffman5351
    @keithhoffman5351 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Aviator's drummer was Brandon Burkhalter, who is excellent in his own right. Clay gives them a different vibe on drums distinct from the heavier rock sound they had in earlier albums.

    The adjective I think you were reaching for at the beginning when you first paused would be "transcendent".
    Polyphia writes music that is transcendent. Of genre, of interpretation, of description, of belief.

    Two lead guitarists are just gods, Tim Henson and Scott Lepage. Tim is just more on social media than Scott but in skill set they are equals, Tim was inspired to do the nylon strings acoustic sound from watching TH-cam covers from fans of their song GOAT. Their harmonics section are the two Clays. Clay Aeschlimann the drummer and Clay Gober the bassist. Clay the drummer, fucking legend, check him out on the track OD, or watch Polyphia’s newest videos, they have Tim just doing a playthrough of his part and another video of Clay just doing a playthrough of his part. It feels almost criminal that Scott lepage and Tim Henson found each other. At the same time it is criminal that the Clays found Tim and Scott. Each of them are musical masters at their instruments, and just as musicians as a whole. Each of them alone is a marvel and a force to be reckoned with. Together as Polyphia it is as you said, it almost feels unfair or evokes jealousy of their mastery at musicianship. As a band Polyphia has become more than the sum of it’s parts and many say are at the forefront of prog rock and are the innovators of the genre. Cheers

    The drummer is indeed the same one they had on the album New Levels New Devils. They did have a different drummer on their older song Aviator that you brought up in the video. As you may have seen in other comments, their current drummer is Clay Aeschliman. Their old drummer was Brandon Burkhalter.

    The only way I can describe this video and song is...elegant and refined. Love your Reactions.
    Regarding recommendations I would highly suggest Once Human, and their song/video Scar Weaver. Excellent musicians, interesting compositions, and the vocalist Lauren Hart is an intense beast.
