My mother used to make this for every special occasion. I tried to watch closely as you made this and the only thing she did differently was she did add bell peppers. She didn't like black olives, I do, so she didn't put a lot of them in. She loved green olives and I didn't. In this dish they were chopped so small that they were ok for me. I have seen other people make this and some use regular spaghetti. The thin is so much better. I think it helps absorb the Italian dressing. You are so right about breaking the spaghetti in two. I am Sicilian and somewhere I think it is illegal to break spaghetti! 😁It is necessary in this dish. My mother would sit for hours and cut the vegetables in very tiny pieces. That is what the recipe she had called for. I like it how you did it. Small but not taking all day to chop. Now you have me hungry for this. I guess I will get everything on my grocery trip this week. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks so much! Let me know how it goes! Just so you know a large bottle of dressing will work if you’re making the amount I did, or you can divide the recipe and only make half.
I love this salad so much that in the summer time it has become part of our family routine to include it all our cookouts. I was first introduced to this salad when my hubby was stationed in Germany during his long military career. I use the ingredients you used too, except for the celery and black olives. And yes, I do add poblano and red peppers too. We love the taste of raw peppers! But, believe it or not I also add any kind of Greek dressing, homemade or store bought too. It is brighter than Wishbone and compliments it very well. I also add about eight cloves of minced garlic to the spaghetti and refrigerate it overnight and mix in the other ingredients the next day. Sometimes garlic can be overpowering, so that method addresses that issue really well. You are correct, I have always brought home an empty container whenever I brought this salad to any function. So glad to see other families enjoying this pasta salad recipe. It truly is a rite f passage for summer cookouts, for military families too. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us, Gail McBride in Attendant.
this is the very first video of yours that i have watched and i must say i like what i saw ,, have subscribed and presses all so hope to see more of your videos ,
I got you on the recommendation videos and I'm from Arkansas as well so I had to subscribe! Looks great and I've never used that spice but going to get it today! TFS!
Thanks for sharing! 🤗. Mine is sitting in the bottom of the refrigerator. I'm taking it to a Friendsgiving Party tomorrow. Couldn't use Cajun seasoning though my roots are from New Orleans and Mississippi. Can no longer do Spicy!🤐 I used Italian seasoning, Greek seasoning and a little Paprika. It looks like it's saturated in the Wishbone Italian Dressing, but I remember you saying that it will soak up the dressing. Fingers Crossed!... I'll see what happens tomorrow. I can't wait to taste it myself. 😋
I can hardly wait to try this salad. It looks very appetizing. Plus I love vegetables & pasta. Thanks for sharing. See you again soon. (NEW SUBSCRIBER)💓
MS. TONNA, I just found your video and I love spaghetti so this really made me hungry. I also like my veggies as we had a huge garden growing up. I can't wait to try this but mostly, I can't wait to eat this. Thank you for sharing and be safe, well, and may God bless you. 🤗
I haven't had this in yrs..loved it...i will be making some soon..i love bell peppers and green olives so i will be adfing those as well..my husband loves cheese so i will add 2 different types and I've never used any meat but i think some pepperoni would be great...I'm wondering if the olive garden brand dresding would be good with this...oh man my mouth is watering..going tonstore tomorrow..ty for this video..
Thank you for sharing your pasta salad recipe. When I prepare pasta salad for my family, I combine Italian Dressing and Pesto with an emulsifier blender. It is so tasty.
Love your video. Thank you for sharing. Your kitchen is so white it’s almost blinding. Maybe something to break it up. Possibly a picture or a color vase. Just a thought. I guess the food does huh Blessings 😀
I completely understand. You can certainly make a smaller portion by either dividing it in half or a fourth. If you have any questions let me know and I can help you.
I do a pasta salad very similar, but I also add bell peppers, both green and black olives, chunks of cheddar cheese, tiny pepperonis, ham chunks and I leave out the celery. Plus I like to use 2 different shaped pasta, and mixed color pasta ( macaroni, spirals, wagon wheels, curls, shells, etc) it just depends on what looks good to me that day.
Looks Great! The only thing I might do is remove the squirt tops from the salad dressing and just dump it out to speed things up. I plan to make this tomorrow for a 4rh of July side....thanks!
I made this for an office party way back in the 1980's. Was poor and needed to bring something, so just figured out which veggies and pasta and dressing. Tasted Great. Still make it.
When pouring your dressing use the top of a sharp knife it tine of a fork and pry out the plaster piece in the top. It comes out easily and makes for an easier and faster pour.. no noise either😊 I do this with bbq bottles also, so much easier
I have not made this in a long time. Thanks for the refresher! Our recipes are the same. That sure does make a great side to take anywhere or use at home. I enjoyed your video! Thanks!
The full list of ingredients aren't listed just part of them. I can follow you and write it all down though. Thank you for sharing, I can think of many variations on that salad. As much as I used to like using the wishbone Italian dressing as a marinade on Tritip roast, I no longer use it because of the yucky oil in it. Now I make my own dressings.
Tonna, this video came through my recommended videos. I am so glad I found your channel and I love this salad after watching and I subscribed immediately ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My friend used Wishbone French Deluxe. It was so delicious! She also used carrots. It was awesome I had forgot about it my friends passed away but I'm going to make it again.thank you
I add pepperoni, italian cheese, a packet of dry Italian seasoning, zoodles & spaghetti squash instead of spaghetti, and less wet Italian dressing. Soo good!!
