Awesome bloke Adrian & wife Linda. Met them at the Fury Road release at the Opra House in Sydney. Finally got out to Silverton to check out his museam. With a few Falcon Hardtops. Will definately be back out there next year for a better look around.
Always loved that Adrian was in the UK with an interceptor..but driving on English roads without turning indicators is lethal! I preferred it like this original.
The real V8 interceptor movie car, was a 4 speed manual, and it was a 351 Cleveland V8, the blower in madmax was a dummy blower, that only worked on electric motor. so it never made 600hp as said in the movie probably 300-350bhp, not a bad replica but not authentic. The real Mad MAX car is owned by a museum in Kendal Cumbria UK, called cars of the stars.
It was filmed in around march of last year, then shown on German TV in december Shes back home, has been since the end of last year, and loving it there!
LOVE THE CAR! and I thought "I" was a fan of the movie, I have dreamed of owning one since seeing the movie at age 16, you are righteous as well as your Interceptor!
Yes he moved to Australia last year, and is now living the dream The car now looks like its from Mad Max 2 and its been out to Broken Hill and all the locations out there
FOR EVERYONES INFO: The imported US Cleveland's were all fitted to GT's with the large port 4V heads whereas the Australian built Cleveland's were all built with small port heads known as 2V's but retained the 4V designation due to the Australian 4 venturi manifold with small port inlets.
Fantastic! Broken Hill is only a couple of hours away from where i live. Would be interested in contacting him to see how things are for him and his wife
@rayjaymor85 So what was the Holden? I remember them mentioning it alot in the MM commentary. Holden must have a GM connection, I believe they built a bunch of cars for the American Pontiac market. The LeMans and G6 I think.
afaik those are special hybrid soundtracks that weren't for sale and got sent exclusively to the people that are making these type of shows. Hybrid - Scores, was the album itself, with 13 tracks, multiplied by 3, leaving you with 13 full, 13 60 second versions, and 13 30 second versions, really nice for ambience, however in the movie, there's some from Danny the Dog OST as well.
I know this model never made it to the States. But isn't rear side window, fender and roofline very similar looking to the U.S. Ford Maverick? I also heard somewhere that this was a Holden with a Chevy Monza front clip. Holden was a GM division wasn't it?
german tv?? mhh i didn´t anyone speaking german at all. if it was on german television there would be subtitles. however from which carcompany is the interceptor? and which other cars did this company?
no the ford falcon was released in the US years and years before they did in Australia. Except that the North American ford falcon was a compact released in the early 60s and the Australian version was more of a muscle car.
I love it. Not to nit-pick, though, but Max regularly drove an Interceptor, in fact he himself was referred to as "the interceptor." Other cars were called "pursuit" vehicles. The black car, though, is a new supercharged, one-off car.
Please fill me in on the history of the notch block! Not all clevelands are the same now are they. Also, how many purpose built Clevelands came to Australia specifically for race cars. How many were cast in Australia also. There are many versions including the 400 ci square block!
I don't think anyone would take your word for anything - it had a 300bhp 351ci V8 (standard in the '73 XB GT); skids are to do with brakes; and the blower wasn't useless - it was decoration, not a functioning supercharger.
In an car museum near Adelaide I´ve seen one of the original. For the second film were built seven. Most of them where crashed for the movies. That one in the museum looked identic with the tanks in the back, the blower and the interior. Only not identic was the polished varnish.
Don't worry Adrian - there are simple ways to get around the engineering report issues. As for superchargers being illegal, this is not the case. The engineer who signs it off for you must be satisfied that the brakes, suspension and structural integrity of the car match the engine output. Hope you find what you're looking for at Broken Hill.
in an old street machine magazine there is an article on an aussie dude who has a replica which is exact same as in the movie, the rear end with fuel cans and even knives in the doors lol
Cool car!! Seen this car in CLASSIC AMERICAN MAG last year. Nice going mate...Fantastic british weather as usual. You still getting pulled by the Bradford POLICE???
Hats of from Australia! And good luck with your move there. I only hope those roads don't have salt on them? Don't want to hurt a rare old jem like this!
Why does everybody insist on calling the Black XB GT Coupe in Mad Max, the "Interceptor", this particular car was NEVER named in the movie, Mad Max's first Cop car was THE "Interceptor", it's written in Freaking big white letters on the back, it also has a different paint job from the standard PURSUIT units the other cops use, Why can't people comprehend that?
How old is this footage and is the old girl back on home turf yet? Every1 loves the Interceptor for what she is but I still hate the protectors on the lights - looks like a VK.. Other than that it's every Aussie Brute Tough Lover's Dream!
why is everyone so obsessed with him driving it in the snow!? The weather here in England is... SHIT! If you don't drive it in bad weather, you dont drive it! Besides, metal is waterproof (duuh) as long as it's dried or in a heated garage (he took it out of a garage) it will be fine. It seems like sometimes people just search for videos just to criticise them.
hell yes see you in austraila we will love this car here it will make i big come back for ausie also it will make the news also over here you can make money on that car over here ps thanks for posting pps come to brisbane ... Q.L.D
Hah...I just realised the car went from Australia, to Texas, to the Uk, and then back to Australia again. He could of just bought one in Australia when he came over here. Great car...for cool, nothing beats it.
Wrongo skippy, the 351 Cleveland was named for the city in which it was built. You might want to bone up on Ford nomenclature. The drivelines of those cars were built in Cleveland, Ohio and exported to Australia. They weren't cast OR developed in Australia.
I know this comment is ancient but clevelands were 100% cast and built in aus in 1975 aka the xb series ie the mad max interceptor and the aus clevelands were sent back for nascar in the us (aus clevelands known for being stronger and heavier)and were used in detomasos after the us stopped, no clue where you got your information from
Gearshift is wrong, used a black ball with a truck air shift at the front of stick, not behind,(but also hard to get/find/make) and siren noise is wrong (USA style) but looks correct. if he gets here tell him to come thru Perth!!
This guy lives not far from me, gorgeous car, can only fault it on the supercharger button on the gear change, should be in front but im sure he knows that. great film, always wanted to go to aus since watching this film and visit the sights where it was filmed. maybe next year.
The supercharger in the movie car was indeed a fake, it was just the hollowed out blower case. As far as it being POSSIBLE to rig some sort of device to turn the blower on/off, no doubt it COULD be done, but it would make the engine run so terrible to basically the point of barely running at all, which is why engines so equipped don't have that little novelty option.
BTW, the entire drivelines for these cars were built in the United States. So next time you see one of these fantastic cars, thank the "seppo" autoworker who built the powerplant.
So strange to see an Interceptor being driven while it's SNOWING! He's done a brilliant job of making a replica, but I hope he was joking about making it a Version 2
@hitechtonicleader This car is based on a 1974 XB Ford Falcon. Built in Victoria, a southeastern state of Australia. The model takes many of its styling cues from the early 70s Mustangs, but they're definitely not a Mustang. Google "XB Falcon coupe" to see what I mean
It WAS filmed for German TV, the VOX channel search on their web site and youll find a feature page on this car He certainly isnt American either LoL!!!
I know it ain't the same. But I am working towards a American clone. Based on a 73 Mustang notch back. I see a lot of junkers around here. I know it will take a lot of metal and fiberglass work. But cheapest way I see to getting my own. But I can't do anything til I start the wifes 63 Grand Prix. Then I will start it going.
Last month I went to Adrian’s Mad Max Museum in Silverton. It is amazing he ended up doing exactly what he said he was going to do.
Awesome bloke Adrian & wife Linda. Met them at the Fury Road release at the Opra House in Sydney. Finally got out to Silverton to check out his museam. With a few Falcon Hardtops. Will definately be back out there next year for a better look around.

Excellent work Adrian and good luck on your proposed museum I read about. I'll be sure to visit once it's up and running.
I love that you drive it in any weather. As a hot rod should be.
Nice work on the project !
It was filmed in around march of last year, then shown on German TV in december
Shes back home, has been since the end of last year, and loving it there!
LOVE THE CAR! and I thought "I" was a fan of the movie, I have dreamed of owning one since seeing the movie at age 16, you are righteous as well as your Interceptor!
Sweet car, not knocking it, but all that work and you didn't convert it to a Toploader 4 speed?
This is the guy who actually ended up moving to Silverton N.S.W and lives in his own public Mad Max museum. Now that's a dedicated MM fan!
Yes he moved to Australia last year, and is now living the dream
The car now looks like its from Mad Max 2 and its been out to Broken Hill and all the locations out there

Very nice, and thank you for including the nuclear winter driving shots
totally totally awesome congrats mate, she rules interceptor 4 ever!
He's got balls driving it in the snow! Good for him! Awesome
Fantastic! Broken Hill is only a couple of hours away from where i live. Would be interested in contacting him to see how things are for him and his wife
Ha the good old '74 XB Falcon in the snow of Germany! Awesome i grew up with those Beasts, and that is what they are!
@rayjaymor85 So what was the Holden? I remember them mentioning it alot in the MM commentary. Holden must have a GM connection, I believe they built a bunch of cars for the American Pontiac market. The LeMans and G6 I think.

This guy brings obcession to a new level. Gotta respect though, the car looks awesome.
I know this model never made it to the States. But isn't rear side window, fender and roofline very similar looking to the U.S. Ford Maverick? I also heard somewhere that this was a Holden with a Chevy Monza front clip. Holden was a GM division wasn't it?
I am obsessed with those films too
what is the song when he opens the garage? and when the screen says 10:02:16 what songs are those? does anybody knows is?
Great job on the car... Beautiful...
Awesome job on building that car!!!
Awsome! I found a Road Warrior die cast. I was happy to pay a butt load for it. It is AWSOME!
german tv?? mhh i didn´t anyone speaking german at all. if it was on german television there would be subtitles.
however from which carcompany is the interceptor?

Cool thanks for posting !
Yeah, no kidding. Had a V8 '89 Camaro in ND...it was like Tokyo drift everywhere I went. Can't imagine how this car handles in weather like that...
In an car museum near Adelaide I´ve seen one of the original. For the second film were built seven. Most of them where crashed for the movies. That one in the museum looked identic with the tanks in the back, the blower and the interior. Only not identic was the polished varnish.
ya got me! Since 1980 when I first saw the movie, I thought that was a fantasy on/off blower!
Looks so pretty. Some people wish this was an American car, but it aint. Some folks are so greedy. Ha ha ha
I agree. It should be called "MFP", wich can be read on the rear licence plate in the movie.
in an old street machine magazine there is an article on an aussie dude who has a replica which is exact same as in the movie, the rear end with fuel cans and even knives in the doors lol
Cool car!! Seen this car in CLASSIC AMERICAN MAG last year. Nice going mate...Fantastic british weather as usual. You still getting pulled by the Bradford POLICE???
Hi you doin chief, hope your dreams have come true, keep up the good work. Cooksey
omg absolutely awesome. I feel like i am driving the vehicle. good one.
Hats of from Australia! And good luck with your move there. I only hope those roads don't have salt on them? Don't want to hurt a rare old jem like this!

If i could have ANY movie car, i would choose this one :D
True and a shame, I would have installed the original aussie siren. But still I give the guy the credits for his project.
How old is this footage and is the old girl back on home turf yet? Every1 loves the Interceptor for what she is but I still hate the protectors on the lights - looks like a VK.. Other than that it's every Aussie Brute Tough Lover's Dream!
No. This was a purely Australian car. And turned into a Mad Max replica in the UK
i love mad max ...its ...to damn cool and the interceptors ...and the ford's are to cool
I guess if I owned it I would drive it year round. Does anybody know how the engine would behave at -40 degrees? Does it come with a block heater?
AWESOME CAR! I wanted one of those bad after seeing the movie.
Ok, where do I buy one?
can anyone tell me the name of the song 0:00-0:18?
they coulda at least waited til it wasnt snowing out, i would never drive that in crappy weather, its way too badass
Any Australian Ford enthusiest knows that the 2 doors were not called coupes, they were "hardtops"
This guy should contact top gear. I reckon they'd be thrilled to have the thing race the top gear track and stick a time on the board.
Good on ya mate, enjoy your hobbie and hope you get to drive out of Broken Hill. Please leave the weather in the UK though, thanks.
why is everyone so obsessed with him driving it in the snow!? The weather here in England is... SHIT! If you don't drive it in bad weather, you dont drive it! Besides, metal is waterproof (duuh) as long as it's dried or in a heated garage (he took it out of a garage) it will be fine.

How high is the price?
They released ford falcon in the US but besides from sharing some similar design features and parts the one released in Australia is pretty different.
fucking briliant, has he opened his museam yet
The siren is wrong. The intereceptor had an Australian police siren. Otherwise it's totally sweet. Hope to see it around Broken Hill sometime.
good job bloke ,2x door falcon coupes are the ducks nutz, excellent
I just realizied something... he actually DID move to Australia, right?
Yeah man..I was thinking that..this dude moved to the out back of Australia and made a mad Max bar pub museum lol
hell yes see you in austraila
we will love this car here
it will make i big come back for ausie
also it will make the news
also over here you can make money on that car over here
ps thanks for posting
pps come to brisbane ... Q.L.D
Please bring that thing home where it belongs.. :(
Hah...I just realised the car went from Australia, to Texas, to the Uk, and then back to Australia again. He could of just bought one in Australia when he came over here.
Great car...for cool, nothing beats it.
Good suggestion bro! I agree totally. Why mess up a really cool ride!
Wrongo skippy, the 351 Cleveland was named for the city in which it was built. You might want to bone up on Ford nomenclature.
The drivelines of those cars were built in Cleveland, Ohio and exported to Australia. They weren't cast OR developed in Australia.

Honestly, I think the foxbody mustang was styled after this
They had ford Falcons in the US just that they were compact cars made in the 60s.
Gearshift is wrong, used a black ball with a truck air shift at the front of stick, not behind,(but also hard to get/find/make) and siren noise is wrong (USA style) but looks correct. if he gets here tell him to come thru Perth!!
i loved that car and allways wanted one,the closest i got was a ford capri with a v8 and yes i agree, dont get it wet
This guy lives not far from me, gorgeous car, can only fault it on the supercharger button on the gear change, should be in front but im sure he knows that. great film, always wanted to go to aus since watching this film and visit the sights where it was filmed. maybe next year.

it sure looks like a fish out of water in that snow. be good to see it here.
oh, that is a great job on the car. Leave it as is!
Yeah, and the original movie had a non function blower, I was wondering if this blower is functional.
Fuck, the best car ever. My dream's car man!
beatiful car love this car
BTW, the entire drivelines for these cars were built in the United States.
So next time you see one of these fantastic cars, thank the "seppo" autoworker who built the powerplant.
Dude - it's HIS CAR!
Meaning he can do whatever the hell he wants to do with it.
Simple as that.
So strange to see an Interceptor being driven while it's SNOWING! He's done a brilliant job of making a replica, but I hope he was joking about making it a Version 2

good and awesome.. preech it brotha..i wish i could own one..piece of history.. badest car of all time..weather it is sicfi or not..
Good one! Everyones real car lover dream car.
It WAS filmed for German TV, the VOX channel
search on their web site and youll find a feature page on this car
He certainly isnt American either LoL!!!
The blower man

nononono keep it mad max 1!!!! (i am aware that he is not the one that posted this, but hopefully he hears my plea somehow :D)
"Main Force Patrol to MFP-twelve... come in twelve...
Good call. That's hilarious.
it's not really hard to drive in that weather, up here in oregon it is like that during winter
Silverton has snow..?
I bet you do! lol. I like to spent time outside working in the shed rather than cooking. But whatever turns you on big guy!
What kind of strange siren was this?
Never the original australian siren
unfortunately the MFP really just stands for "Main Force Patrol"
the guy reminds me of the owner of the 7 second vauxhall victor.
