[How To] Split PS3 Games To Fit on FAT32 External Hard Drives for CFW PS3

- Certain PS3 games cannot fit on a FAT32 formatted external hard drive because certain files are larger than 4GB. In order to get these games working with multiman, you will need a program called Split4G to split the files, and then recombine them on the PS3 for playing. See video tutorial for more details!

Just wanted to add an extra step that may help some people trying this method. Once you have used the program and created a series of split files. Take these files on a Fat32 usb drive. The game folder created will be inside a folder of the name of the game. Take the game named folder with the split files inside it and copy this entire folder to a folder called PS3ISO inside the dev 000 HDD internal hard drive of your ps3. When I did this my game appeared in the games list in multiman and could be played just like any other game on the Hdd. Hope this helps others who follow this tutorial and then cannot see their game show up in multiman..
It doesn’t say split for me, and it also just takes me back to the screen, game doesn’t load up. I can click on the game and start loading it, but it goes to the black screen, then back to the XMB menu.

Is the thing you showed in the video the same? or do you have to copy the game in the internal drive. Also how much space do I need for this in my ps3? (same game)
@@wiseguygr Playing games straight from external storage is generally considered volatile because the slightest nudge in the USB port can cause it to disconnect which can potentially corrupt save & game data. Unless you're 100% confident in the placement of your external storage it is advisable to copy game files onto your internal PS3 HDD so you won't have to worry about the USB port thing but 12GB is incredibly small to have multiple AAA games on PS3 so I'd look into third-party upgrades for that internal flash storage to either 250GB, 500GB, or more.
If you are going to split the games to small sizes to fit on your external storage you absolutely will not be able to run it and have to "merge" them into system via copying as demonstrated in the video since FAT32 / exFAT only support max. 4GB file sizes.
Short sweet and to the point these are the tutorials I like. Hate when people make 25 minute rambling videos that confuse people more then they help.

Dudeeee, u saved my boring 2020 WFH days! It works for the Last Of Us game. From total of 30gb something of this game, it shared 20gb on Ext HDD and 10Gb installed on Internal PS3 HDD. GBU man & stay safe!

by the way, i do thank you for your video. i follwed evry bloody step and i get a blank screen once i have clicked on the game. i have both cue and bin file, like what u have (the same steps) but i get neither cover art nor the game running. a blank screen, although it shows that i have it in muliman as it is clearly there. :(

this is a great tool to use to separate big games and is much easier to copy big games to my ps3

Heres one tip. If youre usb is connected to an android device the just use the .rar file (on the playstore) and just copy and paste it. For some reason it ignores the 4gb limit

Hello my friend, I have a question about the same game too. Since I have PS3 Super slim 12gb I am not sure if I am able to run GOW Ascension. I run most games through external HDD but some of them have a game data utility file and I would be glad if you could tell me how big this file is for GOW ascension

I don't see why it wouldn't work as I did it long time ago playing this game on ps3 using multiman or webman mod.
If the game doesn't show up try going to the e.boot file in the game folder in multiman file manager.

A good way to transfer more than 4gb file to my HDD with FAT32 formatted and without erase the data. This is the answer I've been looking for instead of formatting my bloody HDD to NTFS.

Hey, I found out where those Cache files (joint split files) are located, after running out of space from testing split games. They are in hdd0/game/the mmCM folder(BLES80608)/USRDIR/game_cache. Thank me later :)

Can you please help me? I run the program and split several games: I split an ISO of Little Big Planet 3 into two parts, a BIN file for BlazBlue Central Fiction, and a few others. I put the folder in both the Games folder for my external Hard drive and Multiman didn't pick it up when I clicked refresh like it usually does with other games. I then put in the main directory for the hard drive and Multiman still didn't register it. The split files in the Little Big Planet Iso get called Lbp3.iso.66600 and Lbp3.iso.66601. The same for the Bin files. I don't know what I'm doing wrong..?
I don't remember what I did differently the following time (I think I used PS3 ISO Tools and it worked for the Little Big Planet ISO. The split4G did work for God of War: Ascension. However, it's still not helping for BlazBlue Central Fiction, which has a BIN file labeled bddata.bin that's over 14 gb. It'll split it but regardless of where I put it (PS3ISO folder or otherwise), it doesn't get picked up in Multiman.

I'd use multiman to delete said game.
