  • Join Ri3D at Penn State as we showcase our inaugural robot as an organization. Over the 72 hours of the build event, members of our club designed, prototyped, and manufactured a complete robot to compete in the 2024 FRC game, “Crescendo”. We hope that our design will offer insight to high school teams as they work on their robots this season.
    Thank you to everyone involved with the team, from club members to sponsors, we couldn’t have done it without them. We’re already looking forward to tackling next year’s game challenge!
    To learn more about our robot or the team, feel free to check out our other social media accounts!

      we pulled 2 all nighters. I woke up on saturday at 6:30 am, took a 1 hour nap at 6 pm, then stayed awake until 6am on monday. Once the CAD was done it was simply a matter of machining, wiring, and coding. thankfully that went really fast due to our originlabs partnership, and wiring/coding stayed up until 3 am Tuesday morning.

    Excellent demonstration of the mechanics of the chain climb on a bot with a relatively centered CoG. This is very helpful for determining how a bot will interact here!

    Thanks for this, Penn State Ri3D! I love the integration of the intake and amp scoring; coming at the amp from above while still getting under the chain seems like a big win. Can you go into a little more detail on why you had to abandon the trap? Do you think a robot with similar geometry to this construction could do it with more time?

      Hello. Member of Penn State Ri3D. On our prototype climber, we simply couldn’t pull ourselves high enough to open the trap while staying under the 4ft extension limit. For more info, check out our day 1 recap video

      Hey! I'm also a member of Penn State Ri3D. You should do the math to double check up, but like Logan said, with the way that we deposit the NOTES at a downward angle (like we do in the amp), the arm has to be really long in order to reach high enough to deposit in the trap, and it would be pushing up against that 48" high limit. Also the arm would have to have some sort of telescoping feature because if the arm is longer, you can't raise it into place between chain and the wall of the stage. Hopefully that makes sense.

      Hello. Member of Penn State Ri3D. This is our first year as a club so we did not make it a plan to compete with the bot. Hopefully in the future we can make that a reality

      hi. first of all, i wanted to say that the robot looks great, very good job. i wanted to ask you, if you are not planning to compete this year, are you planning to continue devoloping the robot? cause from my understanding you are taking this year as a learning year, which is great, but that also mean you have lots of time to make the robot better, maybe faster and able to do more tasks like shoot the notes or score on the stage, and i think it will be a very good chance to learn how to integrate several systems onto one robot @@loganpiercy3892

    • @loganpiercy3892
      @loganpiercy3892 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hello, member of Penn State Ri3D. We unfortunately cannot. Those were both lower on our priority list. We prototyped both but 1) didn’t have the power or correct angle on our intake to shoot the note into the speaker 2) on our prototype climber, we couldn’t pull ourselves high enough onto the stage to reach the trap. The hooks on the climber would need to be extremely low on the bot which we were not able to achieve in 3 days

      We opted to not focus on that part of the game as it was low on our prioritiy list. We were aware that the majority of teams will focus on the speaker putting us in an optimal supportive role.

    • @loganpiercy3892
      @loganpiercy3892 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah we primarily focused on scoring in the amp. With a couple modifications and improvements, shooting in the speaker is definitely possible with this design

    • @PennStateRi3D
      @PennStateRi3D  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Additionally we also realized that the majority of the teams would be trying to score in the Speaker, especially considering the kit bot uses a shooter. So doing competition, you’ll be able to have 2 shooting bots and 1 amp bot!

    • @InItForTheLoot
      @InItForTheLoot 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      an additional reason was that since the kit bot and other Ri3D teams demonstrated the speaker well, we wanted to stand out and show a good efficient design for the amp
