This plant is very near and dear to my heart as I grew up with it running wild all through the West Indes. It is a relatively mild toxic Euphorbia for us & our fur babies but it is also used (don't try this at home kids) as a medicinal plant throughout The Greater Antilles. My Grandma who was a herbalist and medicine woman taught me how to use this plant to treat many things. Ailments ranging from fungal infections of the skin to treatment for some ingested poisons as it is an emetic when ingested as a tea.

@@zaidtanim4163 I'd recommend gloves and safety glasses but most importantly don't touch your face until you've completely washed your hands.

I love my plain green devil's backbone. Here in Florida I keep it in bright shade outside.Super easy to propagate! Just break off a branch & sticking in a pot or in the ground. I brought all 3 of inside for the winter and my parent plant grew from 12" to 36" in 3 months! Just give them bright shade light and water occasionally and you'll have no trouble from this plant! So interesting and unusual.

I first came across this plant at my kids Catholic school. They have the biggest & the most beautiful Devil's Backbone I've ever saw to date. It's VERY old from what I understand. One of my favorites in my collection of over 300+ plants!!!!

Here in Brazil it is used as a garden plant. She endures the rainy times well. We call it a Jewish shoe here because of its flowers.

This plant is on my wishlist! It's funny how it comes in waves on the seller sites. Sometimes it's like everyone is selling one, and , like now, no one has any!! Lol!!!. It is a beautiful plant! I must say I am very partial to Euphorbias though. Great video!

@She’s my President I’m just north of you 20 miles up from Daytona. Mine is old and huge, but the leaves have been gone for a while. It’s not dead, but I’m so scared of it dying! My question for you is, do you have yours (well, they’re probably everywhere!) getting the afternoon and evening sun (on my front porch, so it’s half sun and half shade) or does it get the morning sun? If you see this, thank you in advance!! 🌿❤️🌿

Another great vid. The species has a dark green, non-variegated leaf. I've grown this for years as Pedilanthus tithymaloides 'Zig Zag Lime' and it was registered as such. Asiatica Nursery imported it to the US from Thailand many years ago, giving it this validly published cultivar name.

U love this plant I gave big pots and one dropped her leaves. This video is very comforting. Any suggestions? I'm in Pico Rivera CA. I moved her under my patio so she is getting less sun.
