I did the foam mod and use the ocean Bravo tube amp and I must say this headphone sound absolutely amazing. This headphone handles everything I throw at it with very pleasing results.

+Elias Gribble I am using a Sony HAPS1-S and a Sony UDA1-S as headphone amps currently. And no I have not done the foam mod... yet.

Great video, Patrick. Can't go wrong with Sennheisers! Do you plan on modding these? (Oh and also the 598s are only 32 Ohms)

P6fitz got a video coming up about upgrading the headphone cable with one from Kimber Kable. I might upgrade the pads also. Still working out those details. Absolutely recommended to upgrade your sennheiser cable because those are pretty awful.

Is that a metal mesh on the outside of the ear cups or is it a fabric?

What's the difference between these headphones and hd 598? I've read that the 598 is not good for rock and has poor bass.

ever come to mind that the craigslist guy DOES know how to price those headphones, and they are fake? because comparing this review to other reviews, you say that they arent comfy, others say they are the most comfy they have ever worn. You say that the head band is very heavy, others say its very very plush and nice to the touch. Im not saying that this is a bad review, but i feel like you were scammed.

definitely not a scam, I am aware some people do try to sell fake headphones online but these came in an exact box with receipts and serial numbers which have been confirmed by sennheiser to check warranty information. their not horrible in terms of comfort, definitely own some worse pairs but these 558s aren't the most comfortable pair I've worn. wearing them now actually, for about an hour now and they aren't too bad.

Not a problem, I get that too when trying to send comments on mobile. I have seen quite a few people mod these with a antlion mic. I'd say go for it, great price especially if you already have a pair of these. Also sennheisers game zero gaming headset is pretty darn good as well. goes for about $200
