"'Worms In The Wind"' is a song that only exists in live bootlegs. And Jeff would only play about 40 seconds of it... just a little "excerpt" he'd play as an intro to "King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 2". It's unclear if the song was ever finished and recorded."
I appreciate your comment. SgtSanchez has probably never been to Athens Georgia. It is a pretty small town. Jeff used to come into the Normaltown cafe regularly when it was on Prince Avenue... It is closed for now. All kinds of musicians came in; Vic Chesnut, Mike Mills, Michael Stipe, Dave Schools. But Jeff always stood out because he was a little eccentric, never ordering off the menu.
@cyborg0013 I was born in the nineties. At least you were able to truly experience them. I was too young to appreciate all of the magic that was readily available and now I have to sit at my computer and wish that I was born a few years earlier. Be happy you understood what was going on then a bit better than I did. =]
I agree totally, they're a means to end - incredible technique isn't necessary to convey every message. Real artists, in most cases, won't utilize their fully technical capacity in every piece of work they create, simply because it isn't necessary in facilitating their message. John Lennon, or Neil Young are obvious examples of such creators. I apologize if I came across as if I was condemning this music and its fans. I just want to explore a perspective.
I used to wait on Jeff, he would always come in with a box full of CD's, order things that wasn't on the menu. The cooks would refuse to make it, so I would go back into the kitchen and make it for him.
Or maybe because they didn't have ample time for the album to grow on them. If I had to write a review for Aeroplane after the first week of listening to it, I'd probably give it something like 7.9-8.3 too. But after the 2nd week, it became amazing. So don't be a douchebag.
You said "I am a fool" if I don't believe him. I said "I don't believe him." If he doesn't care, and I don't care, but I don't believe him, you are the only one caring here. I still don't believe him and I still don't care what you say.
Alternative explanation is he thinks the worms from anne frank's corpse are pretty, and he wants to make love to them cause each one of them has a little bit of her in them... don't you dare judge me
actually, Pitchfork originally gave In An Aeroplane Over the Sea a lower score (around 8.3) or something, but later changed it because they're a bunch losers who are afraid of losing indie cred.
precisely! who the hells cares if you don't believe him. That was the point of my message, in case you didnt read it. it is being negative. don't make ASSumptions.
No. Take pretty much any section of Paranoid Android by Radiohead. Completley unique chord progressions layered with great melodies and lyrics to boot. Personally, I'd rank it above the G Em C D song in terms of creativity.
@@very025 yes i still love neutral milk hotel a lot, though I suppose i don't listen to them as much as i once did also i cannot believe i ever actually wrote that comment, thanks for bringing my attention back to it hahaha
Uhm, sorry, but who the hell cares if I don't believe him? You're the fool for overreacting to nothing. I never said "no people know him out there". I just don't think fivestarmichael's story is very credible. It's not being negative in any way. Really, I hope you didn't lose any sleep over this.
I started listening to this when I was 11. People of all ages still enjoy this kind of music!
I started listening to NMH when I was 10
Julian Koster is the reason I am now playing the banjo

lol I love this, there's something so demented about carrot flowers part 2 and something so pure about it at the same time.. .
I am currently replying to a random comment from 11 years ago for no reason

Jeff reminds me of the 1990s Phil Ochs almost. I love it!
Thank you for this magic moment.
Dear lord, that sweater is beautiful.
im just looking into this band, because Jesse brom Brand New hails this band as one of his influences.. and i reli reli like them!
Mmm...luverly. Come back, Jeff. All is forgiven. ;-)

Man it’s been a decade since this was commented, but I love this story with all my heart
you are gods gift too us thank you
NMH isn't really obscure anymore, kinda blows your theory out of the water
JEEEEESUUUUUUUSSSS CHRRIIIIIIIIISSSST IIII LOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEE YOOOOUUUUU!
i love how the explanations for his lyrics are always completely nonsensical
I don't think he's ugly particularly.
Maybe because I'm ugly. >.>
holy shit that was amazing.
you are amazing
All is forgiven? What has Jeff ever done to us apart from give us great music?
yeah heard them. but couldnt find where to get them on mah computer.
@JennyV777 that sweater is hella gnarly!!!
oh jeff you're so hot in your ridiculous sweater.
excelente!
@freeclamdiscussion he said the worms ate into his brain, I think he burrowed that from somewhere
the man is right! Bob Dylan is not know for his vocal range! hahahhaha that was a hot one. Bob Dylan was a poet, not a singer.
@bread0666 he's playing the synth with his nose
obviously...
Too bad they don't, eh? I wish they still toured.
Or maybe because they didn't have ample time for the album to grow on them. If I had to write a review for Aeroplane after the first week of listening to it, I'd probably give it something like 7.9-8.3 too. But after the 2nd week, it became amazing. So don't be a douchebag.
Madness!
I love how all his explanations make no sense whatsoever.
man it sounds like there are 8 people there
love you more than life.

@Tribune12345 What about stop dreaming about the 90's and start living the 00's?
i will shout UNTIL I KNOW WHAT I MEEEAAAAANN
You said "I am a fool" if I don't believe him. I said "I don't believe him." If he doesn't care, and I don't care, but I don't believe him, you are the only one caring here. I still don't believe him and I still don't care what you say.
how old are you? :)
Read the info .. that is the first place you should look instead of cluttering the comments. But that's kind of a lost cause as it is..

@mewantsomecookie YEEEEEEES I DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I don't believe you. Not even for a second.
jeff is a silly talker.
Jeff Mangum is probably the ugliest man on the planet, but he's still incredible.
it was a 7.8
@Roflwahflez Im 13 and I like it! :)
not random they sound a lot like dan.
You do.
precisely! who the hells cares if you don't believe him. That was the point of my message, in case you didnt read it. it is being negative. don't make ASSumptions.
'twas sarcasm! anyone? no? okay.

We do @ vauxhall908
Yeah, that G, Em, C, D chord progression was really groundbreaking stuff. Clearly the only original thing on the album.
Wrong generation i freakin kove jeff mangum and nmh an im 12
Do you still like NMH?
@@very025 yes i still love neutral milk hotel a lot, though I suppose i don't listen to them as much as i once did

i like this song/sweater, and i was born in the wrong generation
