    you wouldn't understand how hard it is on them as well ... I have a cousin who is dyslexic, only thing Fannie didn't have that she has is Google where she can check the word spelling

    H/H match update and End-of-Week Recap:
    ...
    ~~~Today's Action:
    Our challenger cruises to a second victory.
    Today's audience match question: "Belle of ________ " (My thoughts: the ball, Amherst, Atlanta)
    The celebs: Fannie (the ball), Charles (Amherst), Richard (New Orleans)
    The choice: The Ball
    The answers: St. Mary's, the South, the Ball
    This is the second time in a row when our contestant scores $500 with Fannie's suggestion.
    Now the big question. Will she choose to play "Let's Match Richard Dawson" again? (They didn't match last time.)
    This was an odd way to choose Richard. She seemed to hint that she felt obligated to call on Richard. Maybe she thinks she is, given Richard has been the only choice since episode 887.
    At any rate, this is now King Richard's 31st consecutive time playing the H/H, and he's been chosen 54 of the past 56 times. (Charles answered the remaining two questions.)
    Looking back, Richard has matched 42 of his 108 most recent attempts (38.9%), 25 of his last 65 attempts (38.5%), and 5 of his last 15 attempts (33.3%).
    For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 65 attempts (50.8%), Fannie has matched 13 of her 26 attempts (50.0%), and Brett has matched 28 of her 68 attempts (41.2%).
    Today's H/H question: "Della _______ "
    (It's got to be Della Reese. She sat next to Richard on the MG panel for 15 episodes: 6-10, 796-800, and 886-890, the last of which wasn't all that long ago. What else is there? Della Street, the fictional secretary of Perry Mason?)
    Richard quickly files his card.
    Our new champion looks confident as Gene prepares to ask for her answer. I think we have a likely winner today! Yes, our champ gives the predicted answer (and receives a big round of applause). I bet that Richard will give the same answer.
    Yes, he does! Good thing spelling doesn't count, given Richard misspelled the singer/actress's name: "Reece" [sic].
    Richard scores his 241st H/H match today.
    ~~~The Week that Was:
    Not a particularly glorious week in the H/H match department. On "Monday" time ran out without a Super-Match, and then the first audience match on "Tuesday" turned out to be a complete bust, so we lost a H/H question there. We ended up with only two matches this week: Richard 2/4
    Yup, our sixth consecutive all-Richard H/H week.
    Quickly recapping this week's panelists:
    *Richard* matched two out of four attempts this week, which is above average for him, and he ends the week just slightly below Brett on the leader board.
    Speaking of *Brett* , she sat idle for the twelfth consecutive week.
    *Charles* sat idle for his sixth week, holding steady at 50.8%, still the highest H/H accuracy score of all celebs with "mature" stats. (Orson Bean, Gary Burghoff, Jo Anne Worley, and Joyce Bulifant all currently have higher accuracy scores, but those scores are based on very limited data.)
    *Fannie* Flagg finished her 55th week of 90 without a chance to break her long-standing tie with Betty on the H/H leader board.
    *Mary* Wickes completed her sixth week (of 14), still waiting for her first shot at the H/H.
    And *Peter* Isacksen completed his one and only week on the Match Game panel without playing the H/H. He was a decent player and a his personality was a good fit for the show. It's a shame he never returned...
    ~~~Looking ahead to next week, these are faces we'll see joining our trusty regulars on the panel:
    -----Semi-regular Joyce Bulifant will return after five weeks away. This will be her 25th week of 38. She sits very near the top of our leader board in a long-standing tie with Jo Anne Worley (both have matched 3 times out of 4 attempts). Since Jo Anne has "retired" from MG, it's up to Joyce to be chosen to break the tie!
    -----Orson Bean will be back for his 13th week (of 16). We last saw Orson in episodes 866-870, and of course, we see him every day at the top of the big Leader Board, although he's only been chosen four times for the H/H, he's matched every single one of them!
    -----Finally, Lynda Day George will return for her third and final week on the panel. It's been a while since we last saw Lynda (in episodes 441-445, back in 1975). She hasn't yet been chosen to answer a H/H question.
    ~~~Finally, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
    Charles - 50.8% (33 wins in 65 attempts).
    TIE: Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
    TIE: Fannie - 50.0% (13 wins in 26 attempts).
    Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Brett - 41.2% (28 wins in 68 attempts).
    Richard - 41.1% (241 wins in 586 attempts).
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 920, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced.

    What was wrong with that audience the day of the survey? They should have remembered the many discussions of CNR directing The Bell of Amherst. Even more so, most or all of the MG regulars financially supported it.
