As someone who has been on the smiler in pitch black at night, I can confirm that it is so much more fun riding it at night. Because the lights that are around the track are so much brighter and that has a bigger impact on your brain. The tune is also haunting you all the way round the track and I’m obsessed with this ride

What if they made another roller coaster called The Smiler Returns? Where when you get into the cart, you go forward into darkness with flashing lights and a bunch of screens with the Smiler Logo spinning around on them. While you sit in the darkness you hear the Smiler say, "Why.. What's this feeling..? Why am I like this!? Why aren't you smiling?! Just smile for me!! Smile! Smile!! Smile!!!" And then you shoot out of the darkness and start spinning around like the original roller coaster but it's longer. You pass by screens with the Smiler Logo, except the smile is upside down and you hear crazy laughing in the background. Then when you exit the ride you hear, crying and laughing from the Smiler.
What if they made a phase 2 of the smiler? Like after the marmalisation like the tester to make you normal again? Making you sad. Ngl the exit is fricking terrifying for me 😂😂. Im such a wuss

I love the smiler and all, but the queues are always massive and when you have to wait you have to listen to this music so when I normally go Alton towers I go really early and bolt it to the smiler to get on it quickly and not be at the back of the queue and this music drives you insane but it’s a really good ride

The Smiler was created to trick people’s brain into thinking they’re insane. They used to spray laughing gas but now they don’t. Around the track, there are flashing lights and the effect of them mix with the slight rattling of your brain. These two effects mix and cause slight hallucination and the song was made to scare people and create a tense atmosphere around the entire part of the theme park, name the X-Sector
