A good overview of the system. One thing I noticed was that the lifetime AI internet protection is provided by Trend Micro, not by Asus themselves, so if Trend Micro were to go bust(which they could), the protection would probably never get updated against new threats. I know that’s a pessimistic view, but that’s who I am 😀
Good point! Nothing in this world is free. There's no such thing as a free lunch. If they say it's free of charge, then you can be 100% certain that someone else has picked up the bill! As you can see, I'm also a glass half empty person. 👍
Better range than the Orbi AX6000 & the speeds were a little slower. Network transfer was faster than AX6000. It was about 250 dollars cheaper than the Orbi. I ended up returning my AX6000 due to disconnecting from Modem. I have a Gigabit connect. These are great overall & for the money can't be beat. I also have the Atlas Pro 6, not even in the same league as the this & the Orbi.
Three questions: Does it work with Google Home? Can I set up a guest wifi? Does the app produce a QR code for guests to scan to get into the guest wi-fi?
Thanks for the vid! Any recommended instructions or info on how to setup a mesh network with ATT Fiber? Thinking about making the move away from ATT’s hardware but have been anxious to make the plunge.
The problem is what does Trend Micro do with your data that it analyzed? Do they sell your data, do you build a profile on you and then sell that to others? I was interested in this function until I read the disclaimer of a 3rd party getting access to all of your data.
I'm worried about the comment about walls as I have a huge apartment. Is it possible to hook up the two routers with cables to get around the wall blockage problem?
Does their app allow you to easily block specific domains on top of parental controls? This is something that Google mesh seems to refuse to allow, but other companies reportedly do.
What speeds are you getting. I’ve upgraded my provider to 1gb but only getting speeds of around 300mb through the Asus mesh system. Can you speed it up with some settings? I get around 800mb just using the existing router but not through these nodes
Can you use this with Verizon fios. Do you need to use their combo modem/router and bridge it Or can I just disconnect their device. And connect the Asus directly to the ethernate cable. But I also have tv with Verizon. Need help
HI so I need some help, I just got the ASUS xt8 and am trying to set it up, I got both blue lights to become solid but when I try to do the setup in the app it checks my internet and simply says the wan isn’t detected and I can’t proceed forward, I’ve switch cables restarted my modem and really am not sure what to do. I’ve also tested my modem with my old router and the internet works fine. What can I do?
This is 394 on Amazon as of today, great system & is comparable to Orbi AX6000 (what I have) Friend has this one & it is a better buy overall & just as fast!
Great review. Please remember that NOTHING IS FOR FREE! If you're told that something is free of charge, then you can be 100% certain that someone else has picked up the bill. In the case of this product, it could very well be consumers who are paying more in the initial purchase price in order to get those 'free' features. Pardon my pessimism but I've been around long enough to realise that there's no such thing as a free lunch.
ASUS does make high performance and quality products...but they are NOT "gud" prices..more like OVER-PRCED! But you know you are getting the best...They try to be like Porsche or Audi.
This product is the worst. Very unstable... bought 3 of them to complete a large home mesh setup. Nothing but problems. 1 of the power supplies was dead out of the box, when I called to get a new one Asus Tech Support told me to just go buy one on Amazon. The other 2 didnt last a year. All power supplies were connected to UPS's and no other products in the house have had power issues. One of the boxes burnt out and was utterly destroyed. The user interface on the iOS is horrible, non-Intuitive and overall a pain in the ass. After the fried box I tried to use the other 2 and cannot figure out how to even get these to work. 1 is setup as the main the other is never seen, no matter what I try. I have tried factory resets. Whatever you do, do not call their Tech Support as it should be called Tech non-Support or something even worse. They simply go by some troubleshooting document which never works. The worst part is trying to understand them... Finally there is the constant cycling and firmware. I have installed the latest firmware and can say that is also a major PITA. If you get them out of sync on the firmware they are a huge pain to get back in sync and the system back and working again. The firmware just seems to randomly update too... so you could be in the middle of a show or game and all of a sudden the network goes down. It has taken me over 2 hours to get things working again. disappointing, wish I could get my money back and I feel like Asus is the one that owes me money for all of the wasted time trying to get the very expensive paper weights to work
Do these asus devices replace your internet provider's router? Or do they work with it?

I'm thinking about returning mine. My older Orbi has less range, however it performs much better than the AX6600

yes works with google home
Great video. I have a fiber to the node connection so need with this set that i bought a VDSL-2 modem. Any reommendations ?
what is the max distance between nods?
Is it possible to connect this mesh wifi via wireless connection if you dont have a cable long enough to get to the main router?
Thanks for the vid! Any recommended instructions or info on how to setup a mesh network with ATT Fiber? Thinking about making the move away from ATT’s hardware but have been anxious to make the plunge.
Can you make VLANs on a separate band for IoT devices for security? Like if I don't want my Google home on the same wifi as my normal devices
I staying in a double story unit. My router is on the level one . My wifi at level 2 simply suck. Is this product suitable for me ?

Hi is it possible that I use this mesh to replace the router? Meaning. Modem connect to mesh. Instead of modem to router to mesh
The wireless coverage is awesome but the router is one dimensional, tried building the router out in a couple different ways and it took a big .....

Did you have to go into the AT&T settings and disable the wifi for these to work properly?
i dont think i did
I have the asus ax86u can I get these to run off my 86u for better coverage?

Does the Asus Router app notify you when a new client tries to connect to your wireless network like the eero app?
not by default, not sure if that is something you can enable
Has any one tried factory reseting? Following the manual, reset not working, there must be another way, any one has a solution? Thank you
