    It's always great to listen to a 70's F1 connoisseur, Scheckter, Depallier, Lauda, hunt, Regazzoni, Peterson etc, the (tragic) golden time of formula 1, thank you for this video.

    Loved building these many years ago, also did a few of Tamiya's 1/12 scale car kits, nice duel build.

      Thanks! I'd love to build one of the 1/12 kits - always keeping my eye out for a bargain on them.

    What a doozy! 👏👏👏Takes me straight back 40+ years ago when I built this car in a smaller scale. I loved it so much and I still think it to be the most visually interesting F1 car ever built. Thank you, MN, for making me smile 😄

    I really liked these cars back in the day. I went with my dad to the 1976 GP at Brands Hatch and, if I recall correctly, Jody Scheckter did well in the race. I think third or fourth on the day. The models look really good.

      Ah yes, the race where Hunt crashed out on the first lap and the officials only let him start again because they feared the crowd would riot otherwise :) I'm a regular visitor to Brands Hatch - a fantastic circuit. You can still see classic F1 cars there sometimes when the Masters Racing Legends go there.

    • @allanrichards3752

      Yes Hunt, Clay Regarzzoni and Lauda came together at Paddock bend on lap 1. The race was stopped but Hunt drove up around Druids and into the back of the pits from what is now Graham Hill bend. I don't know if you can do that now but he was not allowed to restart. The crowd got quite aggressive and were throwing cans and bottles over the fence onto the start area so he was then allowed to restart and won the race, only to be disqualified a month or so later in the season. I have never been a fan of F1 race management, I still think its crap today with all these penalties. I think that is why I prefer drag racing now.@@ModelNerd

    The SIX wheel F1 car.
    I wish we had those loose regulations in 2024.
    Again
    That would be interesting.

      It sure would be - the 60s and 70s were such an era of innovation and experimentation, trying to find that vital advantage.

    Beautiful...
    I vividly remember these cars from back in the day, was a massive fan of Scheckter, and I did get a Bburago 1:14 model from my parents of the 77 (blue/white) car in summer '78 - with steerable wheels, and I actually still have it all complete except for the box it came in! 😀
    I'm definitely going to get the kit for that one as well, always liked it better than the all blue version 😜
    Thanks for talking us through the process, these do indeed look like a lot of fun... 🙏

      Thank you for commenting! I'd definitely recommend these kits - and they can be found for a really decent price too. Enjoy!

    Intriguing builds, I've not built formula 1 kits, however they are quite the change from aircraft for sure. Based on your video I can see working with the detail might help improve working with smaller details in aircraft. I did have a collection of " Dinky Toy" metal racers from 50 and 60's and have been in the pits for Can- Am racers in the late 60's. AMT kits were the rage in early 60's. Your collection is incredible Very interesting video.

      Thank you mate. Funny, I just saw that one of my local hobby shops had a collection of AMT kits recently. I'd never seen them in person before and I find it interesting that they are in 1/25 scale rather than 1/24 or 1/20.

    • @c123bthunderpig
      @c123bthunderpig ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModelNerd That is indeed a coincidence I wonder how the new kits compare to old. The 1/25, was or is a great scale for for the model. The 60 era kits were fun to build, had rubber tires and nice interior detail. The kits covered a large range of the gargantuan American " metal " beast of the era from GM and Ford some Chrysler and the infamous 57 Chevy and Thundebirds. Glad you saw them . Cheers and standing buy for the next video.

      @@c123bthunderpig Do you watch Andy's Hobby Headquarters? A while ago he did a video on a huge second hand model lot he acquired - I think from an estate sale. There were a LOT of old AMT and similar kits in that. The guy was clearly a huge collector.

    • @c123bthunderpig
      @c123bthunderpig ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ModelNerd Thanks, that sounds great I haven't watched him but I will certainly find him and see if the collection is still available. Funny follow up. We had a modeling club in " my youth", To get a new kit for our group we'd collect glass Coke Bottles , they would pay 5 cents a bottle, it wouldn't take long to collect enough for a new kit. Recycling trends way back then have certainly changed. Thanks so much again for news on Andy
