  • Christina Szperka, MD, FAHS, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA discusses the state of migraine prevention in the pediatric population. She highlights a new primary care clinical pathway for the management of pediatric headache, outlining recommendations for primary care physicians. In this pathway, vitamins are recommended for preventive therapy, including riboflavin, magnesium, and CoQ10, given the lack of familiarity with migraine preventive medications among primary care physicians. Dr Szperka emphasizes, however, that even when most patients respond to first- or second-line therapies, a huge challenge remains in targeting the right treatment to patients who do not respond. This interview took place at the American Headache Society (AHS) Annual Meeting 2024 in San Diego, CA.
