In my experience, some dogs are by far more intelligent and more worthy creatures than most people. I never had a dog, until my daughter decided to get one when she started medical school. But soon, she figured out it was not easy to take care of the dog while in medical school. So, I ended up with a most beautiful White German Shepherd called Bellissima. (There is a picture of her on my Channel). With the first light of the day, I could hear her shaking herself, and waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs to celebrate the arrival of the new day. Just seeing her expressive eyes, and her long ears moving side to side, warms my heart. We go for a walk, and then I fix her breakfast, one cup of dry food, one cup of the best lean meat cooked in turmeric and black pepper sauce for 3 hours at 350 degree. I don't eat meat, but I make enough for Bellissima for the week. She watches patiently, as I place the cup of cooked meat over her dry food. And then, I add, one table spoon of yogurt, and one table spoon of puree pumpkins on top. The gratitude in her eyes speaks volumes. She is not only beautiful, but also very intelligent. She knows when I put down my reading glasses and pick up my regular eye glasses, it is time for a walk. She also is very keenly aware of my routine. One night, I woke up in the middle of night and noticed that she had walked up to the second floor and was sitting next to my bed, which is very unusual for her. She was hitting her nose against my feet. At first, I figured she needed to go out. So, I took her out, but noticed that was not her concern. And when she repeated the same act, I realized that I had forgotten to take my medication which helps me to get restful sleep.
