Is it possible to install a new alternator without loosening the belt? The belt bolt to release tension broke off. We were able to take out the old one. But fitting the bottom screw is extremely hard. I was wondering if there were any tips to help find the hole for the bottom screw of the new alternator when installing. Is it possible to see it from the side through the passenger tire side view?

you could take off the splash guard on the right tire wheel well and that will help you see a bit better. Honestly its just getting in there and keep trying, I did it without removing or loosening the fan bolt as you can see in video since i did not have the wrench, It was a bit harder and took extra time, but it can be done.

Is there any special tools i would need

no special tools needed, only a basic mechanic set with sockets and wrenches, Only tool that might be considered special is the bigger wrench to loosen the tension bolt which usually does not come in a mechanic set but on the video you can see i did it without that wrench since my set did not have that wrench.

Does the alternator still work , does it make a whining noise or anything , did you have to exchange it for another one yet.

That plate or bracket with 2 bolts that didn’t come with the new one, is it mandatory that it is on there? What exactly is its purpose?

none usually come with it and you would need to remove the old one and add to the new alternator, It helps hold the clips in place and it might be some kind of heat shield as well.

If you can't figure out where the bolts are this job isn't for you.

Its a 3/4 socket for the tensioner. Not a 19 inch. I tried the 19 millimeter doesn't fit
