they literally recorded a video that showed all the sharks in ocean, then his “friends” dared him to jump in the ocean. you literally see the sharks in the ocean before he jumped off. they threw a life raft so he can grab it but he saw a shark and tried to swim away. they called off the search cause most likely he got eaten by sharks and it was his fault. i only feel bad for his family. i’m only a yr older than him

The submersible was made of plastic...yes, plastic. They used the submersible multiple times before, though they never cared to look over the exterior afterwards. The exterior weakened because of the water, then breaking. The youngest passenger was a 17yo.

Fun fact, orcas have trends, once they would wear dead fish as hats, but eventually they stopped. A few orcas tried to bring the fish hats back, but failed 😅
as somebody who has thalassaphobia its a very serious fear that many people dont take seriously. friends and family have all told me it doesnt make sense but to me it does. its not just about sharks. its a lot more than that. i mean can you imagine being stranded in the middle of the ocean, not knowing what the hell is under you, not knowing whether something is going to come up and attack you....that would be horrifying. i love ben so much but what he said about thalassaphobic didn’t sit right with me. if you think its silly i encourage you to talk to someone with thalassaphobia.

fun fact: I live on a small island that doesn’t see very big planes since the airport isn’t very big and we just don’t need them, but the place I live had the parts required for the search (I’m not sure what they were but it was something). A huge plane, bigger than anyone here had ever seen before arrived to pick them up and most of the people living on the island just crowded around the airport to watch. It was a crazy day! Let me know if anyone else experienced anything like this when this was happening

I think it's wrong to say you don't have sympathy for these people, their financial situation doesn't take away from the tragedy of the whole thing. Its so sad that loads of people watched in the news as the submarine went missing. The families of the people on the ship had to experience the period of time when everyone was basically counting down the minutes before the passengers died. Although everyone thought that it was going to be because of lack of oxygen (of course that’s not what happened in the end), that’s also horrifically sad to have to watch happen to your loved ones. My heart goes out to the families and the victims.
I’m going to work at seaworld when I’m older, and also I agree with what you say, just want to clear some things. The trainer that was killed was Dawn Brancheau, she was a senior trainer at seaworld Orlando and died doing what she loved. The killer whale that was involved with her death was Tilikum, a 12,500 pound dolphin. Also a new SeaWorld has opened and it is amazing, their dolphin pool is half a mile and it’s VERY deep too, it’s the biggest aquarium in the world. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. This proves that SeaWorld HAS the money to revamp its US SeaWorlds, but chose not to. I truly hope it revamps their pools, they said they would in 2016 and never did. But SeaWorld DOES save thousands of animals each year and is very successful. (Also you can’t “paddle away” a orca, the biggest one was 22,000 pounds ;-;)

as somebody who has thalassaphobia its a very serious fear that many people dont take seriously. friends and family have all told me it doesnt make sense but to me it does. its not just about sharks. its a lot more than that. i mean can you imagine being stranded in the middle of the ocean, not knowing what the hell is under you, not knowing whether something is going to come up and attack you....that would be horrifying. i love ben so much but what he said about thalassaphobic didn’t sit right with me. if you think its silly i encourage you to talk to someone with thalassaphobia.

fun fact: I live on a small island that doesn’t see very big planes since the airport isn’t very big and we just don’t need them, but the place I live had the parts required for the search (I’m not sure what they were but it was something). A huge plane, bigger than anyone here had ever seen before arrived to pick them up and most of the people living on the island just crowded around the airport to watch. It was a crazy day! I think it's wrong to say you don't have sympathy for these people, their financial situation doesn't take away from the tragedy of the whole thing. I find it strange that the only argument people have for not caring is because these people were "idiots" for going down there anyway. The same thing wasn't said when the challenger space shuttle incident happened even though it involved the deaths of normal people who were doing something abnormal (going to space). I don't think these double standards are fair...we're all human after all and we need to have sympathy for one another

Its so sad that loads of people watched in the news as the submarine went missing. The families of the people on the ship had to experience the period of time when everyone was basically counting down the minutes before the passengers died. Although everyone thought that it was going to be because of lack of oxygen (of course that’s not what happened in the end), that’s also horrifically sad to have to watch happen to your loved ones. The trainer that was killed was Dawn Brancheau, she was a senior trainer at seaworld Orlando and died doing what she loved.
The killer whale that was involved with her death was Tilikum, a 12,500 pound dolphin.
Also a new SeaWorld has opened and it is amazing, their dolphin pool is half a mile and it’s VERY deep too, it’s the biggest aquarium in the world. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.
This proves that SeaWorld HAS the money to revamp its US SeaWorlds, but chose not to.
I truly hope it revamps their pools, they said they would in 2016 and never did.
But SeaWorld DOES save thousands of animals each year and is very successful.
