I am not a fitness equipment engineer. I do not recommend anyone build this and use it. It’s for entertainment only. Enjoy.
This was about $500 in total cost. It’s less than half a full sized cheap smith, and those are not in stock. This one is compact and I am really enjoying it. I have done a few workouts on it and feel I have it the way I want it.
You can use heavier gauge material for a stronger machine with a heavier limit.
This the basic parts list. No links but you can copy and paste in Amazon or google.
-2 2000mm Linear guide rails with 4 total sbr 16uu bearing blocks. Amazon $115
    -2 sheets 1/2 plywood. I used a/c $80
-2 8 foot deep mounting stock. Purchased from an hvac shop. $60
    -1 7’ x 1” barbel. Sporzon on Amazon $100
-1” pair handle bar risers. $26
    -2 pillow block mounted bearings 1”. $16
    -2 1/2” x 13nc I-bolts for the hooks.
-1 Piece of flat stock steel $6
    -Screws nuts washers and bolts$10
-cut off wheels for right angle grinder $20
-small cut of wheels for dremal $10
-I did use some random pieces of lumber I already had. Maybe $20
This is something like $463 so I say $500 total.

Hi Great build, couple of things the metal HVAC strut is Unistrut it would be worth while looking at their website for other parts; the second is an observation; when you lifted I noticed the bar flex a bit you might want to check that out; but all in all it was great innovation brilliant build mate and thank you for sharing.

You've inspired me to make this. What I'd like to know please is how you attached the hooks to the barbel? Will try to avoid that company (haha).

What is the name of the "hook" tool? To fix up a barbell

How did you make the hooks and the thingy that holds the bar?

The parts used are in the list in the description. I used motorcycle handle bar mounts and I bolts.

Could have bought a Titan Fitness spaced saving rack with j cups and spotter arms for the same price. Space saving rack sits 24" off the wall and is bolted to the wall for stability. Much safer and looks nicer.

I have lithium grease for all types of mechanisms, it helps a lot and reduces noise, and it doesn't cost much

That is cool, but personally, I would rather just buy a smith machine, respect though!

Haha, I’m dealing with FexEx the last two days myself. We’re FexEd, Fuck You! Should be their slogan.
