Real Pak Mei Kungfu is extremely rare and this teacher has the knowledge! He has given away many secrets in this video if you are smart enough to know what he is explaining. Listen to his explanation of 'Ton & Tow'. You don't often get these kind of insights being shared on a public video, very rare indeed. Thank you so much for making this information available to the public sir.

Absolutely. Float, sink, swallow and spit are actually what a western boxer does as well, if you watch their body dynamics (though they spit a little differently due to their fighting on a springy surface rather than flagstone). Over-mystification has done a lot of damage to the reputation of Chinese boxing.

Indeed thank you! All the comments I’ve read for this video share their appreciation of both the Sifu and the interviewer. That’s fantastic because these rare art forms need a platform to continue to have a life to inspire others. Being a New Yorker I’ve had the lucky opportunity to have studied a Northern Kung Fu system for 15 years then moved onto Ng Mui for 3 years then Bak Mei for another 2 years. I so enjoyed the over lap of Ng Mui and Bak Mei and my instructors were fantastic- I’m so, so grateful for everything these generous people are sharing.

Fantastic stuff - thanks for the upload and very glad you picked a hakka style. Super interesting to compare this with my own experience in southern mantis, so much overlap in terms of the core 'powers' and in application. Going from totally relaxed to that sudden 'shock power' is something I really struggled with in terms of rising/sinking - however, I ended up 'getting it' in quite other circumstances while training in Taichi - strange how these things can overlap in seemingly quite different arts. Fingers crossed you find an equally expressive and knowledgeable Dragon Sign sifu to share their insights at some point.

This snap shot doesn't do the style justice just how brutal it is on the body even obtaining a foundation before you even start jik bo! Developing the 4 energies in the Dan tien is very very hard. And holding full body tension really kicks your arse, no matter how fit and strong you are! For a hobbyist, it was just too much and dreaded class after several months! :-(

@True WingChun wtf?? You know nothing about me you clown! I've been doing WC since 2001. I studied dragon for a while which is another dark and brutal art! Then the class was migrated over to pak mei. Pak mei and heavy weight training don't mix, so I chose the iron! Ive also studied tai chi and feng sao for a short spell as well as regular zhan zhuang and qigong. Soo shut the fuck with your nonsense! True wing chun?? Fucking hell... What lineage are you? Why have you cajoled yourself that Pak Mei is secretive style? This has been practiced for many generations. When young I learned this 1,100 days in of 3,000 at temple... The key is to generate core power and disperse to corresponding appendage. As far as being struck, one can utilize the sensation to produce even more concentrated output.
    Love to all.

They should show light sparring/free movement in every episode. I love traditional martial arts but it would be much better to see it in live movement. I’m not saying to do hard sparring and bang it out. Literally just want to see what it’s gonna look like in a more live non-set play. Just 25% sparring no gloves, open hands what ever they want. Just not always stand still techniques. I’m saying this all with love and respect because I’ve enjoyed studying traditional martial arts and they have lots of useful things. Then we can see what actually has any potential of usefulness from these various arts. Not just “I would do this and then this if you did this or that, etc.” Much respect

Like i said, im not talking about banging it out uncontrollably like chumps. more then likely it could be a student of the teacher and or Kirin himself. If i was looking to see power they can hit the heavy bag and i can see it. But im talking about fluid movement to see the actual reaction time and reality of something they are talking about. Some would refer to this as "technical sparring". If someone cant control their power then they clearly lack control and if you dont have control then they're probably an amateur . Thats the same as someone who plays music only being able to play at a loud dynamic and never a low volume or intensity. Its not hard to do light controlled sparring at all unless your a complete ego-filled asshole who wants to just win instead of refining the application of tecnique. Obviously if they are going to demonstrate what im asking, it should be someone who is good and controlled and is not going to try to win. All im asking is if they wanna show a technique or an idea in the fashion of start and stop, then they should also show what it might look like in real movement, where people are moving freely. Doesn't have to be fast or hard, just natural and light. I'm saying this because i know traditional martial arts has many great things to offer, and even has some ideas martial that can definitely be applied to where the martial arts world has evolved to. But only through a more fluid live play is it going to get some good information across to the majority of people. Im not saying everytime they need to do this with everything. but if they are showing a "martial" technique from their system, or some advantageous body mechanic, its going to be better to see not only in stop and go, but also in just a slightly more free movement modality.
(sorry for any and all grammatical errors, im only trying to explain what i meant in the beginning because i think your not understanding what i meant) thanks for replying and continuing discussion.

None of this "you punch like this (slow motion) and I counter with this (arm parry or wrist lock) followed by these series of 4 counter strikes" stuff works in a real fight. Watch a boxing or MMA match, or a street fight. No one catches the other guy's arm to do any fancy techniques. When people attack for real, the strikes come too fast and to unpredictably. You either dodge it, block it, or parry it. There's no way anyone can use these techniques worth a damn in real action. Don't believe me? Ask a friend or even your girlfriend to stand within striking distance of you (not 7-8 feet away) and try to hit your face as fast as they can. Even if you are probably the faster one, you'll be surprised how often their hands gets through and hits your face. That's why you never see this in a ring or cage. Theory does not equal reality. By the way, I studied Bak Mei style too.

Totally agreed I trained for years with in Australia pak mei with my friends father who was a so master. And then sparred a kick boxer this was in the early 90’s and quickly realised how useless it is. Lack of conditioning lack of effective techniques and realistic training quickly switched over to kickboxing and now Muay Thai to which I have been doing for over 17 years never looked back. Muay Thai would easily smash any pak mei master or student they as you don’t fight like them and not stuck with useless methods, lack of conditioning and ineffective outdated training and techniques. Not saying that Muay Thai is the best but it’s a style or fight art that’s constantly proven in the ring and cage .. and always proves it’s self. When was this stuff last used in combat?

Matthew what thing? Some English-speaking people are impatient about a non-English-speaking person speaking English. One who listens to the language and not the contents is a prejudiced person who misses the crux of the message. Prejudice and discrimination can never be erased from these people. What if he doesn't teach in English and you're demanded to listen to his Chinese? You'll be suffocated !

As far as the balms and cream pain relief you’re pushing, your body will absorb toxins whether it be synthetics or bio amalgams, this will compromise your Micro biome count. This effects the primary thyroid artery thus immune system. Pain can be something to be celebrated, we must experience all ends of the spectrum, allow yourself to feel pain, do not take drugs or any suppressants or relief and your body will flourish, it is simply pain, allow it to be just as you should be in your moment.
