I have a Casio HDC 600 Ana-Digi, bought it in 2006. It still works with the original battery. It's bruised and battered, the grey parts have become swamp-green, but it still works, including the LED light.
It is amazing how tough Casios are, even the ones that are not G-Shocks!
I bought the regular W-800H last week for the equivalent of USD 16, Black Friday price. I think it's the bargain of the year.
Casio has had a lot of hit-and-misses in the past years (see the brass Tiffanys), the mega-expensive and super-cluttered Bluetooth Edifices or the weird plastic G-shocks or the unjustifiably expensive Metal G-Shocks or the Casiotron, but some of their digitals and even some of their ProTreks are absolutely unbeatable.
Oh, and about these screen protectors - a set of 6 pcs. costs USD 12. The watch cost me USD 16... Should I buy the screen protectors?

      @@Florin_AEM perfectly agree with you
That there’s no use in buying screen protectors for this kind of a watch. Yet that strange person that lives inside my brain, the same one who covers boxes of items in transparence plastic, makes me do strange things at times…
Well You sure got an excellent bargain for that w 800 h!
I also agree on practically all of the models that you mentioned as “miss“, even though I must say that some of the metal G-Shocks appeal to me…
but all in all Casio is fantastic watch brand!

Ah the "Greyman"... Its an epic watch and you can do a timer mod on it if you want. Screen protector is a cool idea! I have had mine for about two years now and it is awesome!

I’ve seen videos on the timer mod.
I might try it one day, but for now I’m enjoying it as mother Casio intended it to be.
I.e. lacking a timer (and 5 alarms) so you are tempted to buy another model with a timer.
A model that, in turn, will lack some other feature, in order to keep you always looking for “the perfect “ watch 😂!

@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed I haven't modded mine too haha! Its still stock standard. I agree... I have models that do one thing but lack another...So you end up buying more and more! Its a vicious Casio cycle of which there is no escape hahaha!

    Wow!!!
The strap is exactly like mine!!!
Must be installed from the factory!!!
    “Native" strap is generally crap!!!

The resin of the original strap has a good quality, it feels reasonably soft, but the strap we installed looks waaay cooler!

@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed it's easy to do that just use the magnified glass but why the Casio manufacture is not doing it already if they did it was would be the best watch ever like Casio w720

it would indeed be one of their best watches!
As I wrote to another viewer: I think that Casio left some features unaccessible on purpose.s
This way you can never have the "perfect" watch and you (and me, and a million other Casio fans) will want to buy some other model which, in turn, will lack some other feature.
And so we'll all want to buy yet another one! hahaha!

I have 29...Repeat TWENTY NINE Casio Digital watches... I bought this W-800H even though I did not need it and I have far superior Casio G-Shock watches.
Here in the UK, This watch cost me £19.99 GBP
I keep all my Casio digital watches in a shoe box and I do not care if the screen gets scratched on any of them.
When the batteries die on them I will just put them in the bin. Apart from the G-Shock watches.. They are worth buying a new battery for.
The other cheap ones such as the Casio F91W and the Casio W-59...I just throw them in the bin when the batteries die or when the straps snap on them... Why bother putting a screen protector on these "Disposable" cheap watches. They are meant to be used and abused. Not babied and wrapped in cotton wool... They will NEVER be worth a lot of money as collector items.... Not in our lifetime anyway.
They are cheap "Throw away" watches.

While I respect your point of view and I totally agree that from an economical perspective it makes perfect sense, I can't bring myself to throw away something that I know will still work, that will last for years and could easily be fixed.
Also, I often get emotionally attached to simple objects such as these cheap watches.
Here's an idea: You could gather your old battered-up Casios and sell them.
Here's an even better idea: you could give them for free to a watch rescuer who would change their battery, replace the strap, polish the crystal and then make a video about the whole process. I have someone in mind...

You are throwing good-working stuff to the bin. They dont deserve that because they are cheap. They are more valuable for me than expensive watches because they do better job for cheaper. Better while cheaper is more precious for me.
