The problem with your argument is that it presumes that access to the “market” of “girlfriends” is equal. Women have commoditized relationships. If you’re a male that’s not attractive, awkward, and have interest that women find weird you don’t have access to probably 95% of that market. It’s not surprising that an alternate market has sprung into being. Additionally, simultaneously a societal change has occurred were males have greater consequences when it comes to relationships. If he approaches you and you find it “creepy”, which greatly relies on your attraction to him, then he risks losing his career, assets, and possibly his freedom. If he’s lucky enough to get married through his efforts and things go wrong, he is more likely to lose if things fail, up to including everything he’s worked for and his access to his offspring. Also, women’s expectations of what they consider a “quality partner” vs. what they bring to the table have gotten to the point of ludicrous. If I were a young man in this environment, I absolutely understand the attractiveness of these new possibilities. The technological issue you mentioned will be overcome and the next iterations of this will become dystopian, it’s high time women start taking seriously the “male issues” of today and accept their responsibility in creating this environment.
Also, the defining factor in most single womens' determination of male attractiveness is money. Not successful? Not driving the right car or living in the right area? Not wearing the right clothes, the right shoes, or have teeth that are white enough? You're out. Not worth considering. Unless you're in that top 1%, you can forget it. And it's now the same with AI. Snarky Jay is missing the problem because she's a woman. 80% of women go after 20% of the men. Women date up but that naturally leads to many guys not getting any interest, and you briefly mentioned that about dating apps like Tinder. Another example of this is awkward men who approach women. If they are unattractive, they will be seen as creepy. If they are attractive or rich, they will often be seen as cute. Even worse is when a guy is constantly rejected, he won't know how to talk to a girl which leads to some unhinged dudes. I dont know the solution to that but it's one problem. Lastly, AI sex dolls do exist and they will make the other side warmer. If its no woman or robot, most guys would eventually take that robot

Nothing to argue here. You are 100% right. A movie that reflects this is a film called Cherry 2000. Its about a guy in a not so distant future who lives with a sexbot that provides the girlfriend experience. The chooses this lifestyle because the women in his time have become completely ridiculous in the dating scene. Imagine going to a bar or club to meet women, and before you can talk to them they have to run your name through a credit check to see if you qualify for their time. If you want to take them on a date or one night stand you have to get a lawyer and notoriety present to sign off on it first.

And many don't see many men as worth their time. I'm older and better well off today but I often go on dates in my work truck rather than my nice car. I've had girls ask right off the bat how much I have in my bank account and almost every time how much I make a year. It’s not specific to one cause unless one draws from a religious perspective but it definitely is a wide range from culture, social media influence, school culture influences, Hollywood influence and decline in social gatherings and church functions. I’ve educated myself but it’s not enough when the other chooses to follow the crowd like for example women choosing only wealthy men who aren’t faithful when an average loyal hard worker that gives you attention, has no bills is good. The cause of it is social media and women's unreasonable standards. 25 years ago it was tough for men to meet and engage women but, at least they had a local perimeter to find them in. Whether it would school, work, friends get together, or local activities. Now here in the age of social media the perimeter has stretched across the world. I'm sure it's been mentioned, but the film "Her" from Spike Jonze, basically predicted exactly this. Joaquin Pheonix is brilliant as a lonely man who seeks companionship from an AI companion, voiced by Scarlett Johansson. It's an incredibly emotional and beautiful story, which I won't spoil. Spike Jonze is an incredible film maker.
The movie Her was a great film. I never knew when I saw it in 2014 that we would be here ten years later. There's so many layers to why we're here. If A.I. companions will be the new drug then online p_rn and social media was the gateway drug. When A.I. bots become physical women and men we're really going to see a shift. It's already too late, AI isn't replacing interactions with women, it's filling the already present gap left by a lack of interaction with women. Because of the rise of dating apps average men of average height, looks and income will never even be given the opportunity to interact. The data that 80% of the women only interact with 10% of the men (on dating apps) creates an abundance of Lotharios, broken hearted women and completely overlooked men. Combine this with the understandable need for men to leave women alone in public spaces and at work, does make things even more difficult, as the onus is on men to do the approaching. One has to remember that the most successful businesses are those that identify an already present need and fill that gap.

I think the biggest problem with dating, these days, is that people are all about “What can you do for me?” instead of “What can we do for each other?” In any healthy relationship, a couple is supportive of each other and helps each other grow both individually and collectively. Not to come off as a whinger, but, I'm an over 60 nerd who is, now, stuck in the South West equivalent of Bedrock, where the biggest import is alcohol/pot and the greatest export s alcoholics/potheads (I don't indulge). I have no way to get around, save for the bus and my own two feet. My chances of meeting a woman who shares 1/10th of my interests is, slightly less, than the proverbial snowball surviving in Hell. (in other words, I'm terminally single). Now, why I haven't looked into the whole "AI girlfriend" thing (and probably couldn't afford it anyway), the fact that I have no-one to "talk nerd" with, or much of anything, it comes to that, I can understand those who can afford it, to sign up for something like that.

I think the only reason why AI seems like a viable option is because people are so fed up with toxic partners in their dating lives that they think having a fake dating partner is probably better than a toxic individual.

As to the why, another reason that needs to be considered is "modern feminism". Yes, I understand that they are not the majority of women, but they are the most vocal on social media. Many men still remember the "movement" from several years ago that could possibly cause an innocent man to lose their job, reputation, etc simply for pissing off the wrong woman. I was genuinely impressed since this is a phenomenon plaguing modern society for both men and women. I understand the temptation but this is not the way. AI girlfriends are now up to bat but it seems like the whole only fans thing came out of no where and not too long ago. The way men and women were socializing changed over night and not for the better. I think this is part of a loneliness epidemic but there is also a convenience aspect to it. Sadly the Match group is pure evil. Their sites aren't designed to making matching effective, they are designed to make matching difficult so people stay single and keep paying. The evil part is they keep acquiring other sites that are really good and then they change them so they don't work anymore. OkCupid is a great example. I am lonely and can't move because I'm in a wheelchair but no amount of AI is better than a real conection with someone! I do use AI to help me do art since I can't physically move. I post it all the time on Facebook and even made some friends through my art! You do make some good points about AI though Jay!
Still digging through your content, this video makes me so glad I got married. After my divorce it was pretty tough to talk to a real female, but this insane AI wasn't a thing then either. More or less guys being creepy and making the dating apps pretty much unusable. But met my wife through chance and my loneliness is gone, but I can remember back and I could see men just desperate for the interaction using this. The world is just so messed up.

All good points. There's also one more. AI bots are a challenge for the arrogant women. As society, at least in America, evened out and women are more powerful and self-sufficent, there are a large bulk of them who became quite picky, cruel and thinking no one is worthy of them, same as a bulk of men did as they led society. Notice the threat of AI tends to be women worried about losing men, not men worried about losing women. Me, I'm set. I found my soulmate and am old and married, but I've watched many women dismiss men and jump relationships the way many men used to, who have created SO MANY lonely men today. Those women are who would lose to AI, not the kindhearted women out there. There are a lot of nice guys out there that many women will scoff at and dismiss for not having an 8 pack and 6 feet tall, becoming the very superficial pigs they detested in men generations past. Personally, I'd rather see a lonely nice guy have an option that makes his life a bit more bearable with an AI than to grovel for some woman who may very well cheat on him. The way for anyone to combat AI as competition in either conversation or relationship is to actually be a good person. Nobody will ever choose AI over a good person. And to be clear, I, of course, am not saying all women are arrogant. Only that the numbers that are have grown to become the norm in modern society. If my wife dies, I'd take an AI friend over someone just trying to take advantage of me any day. I will be 100% honest here. I just moved out of state about 7 months ago to a new state many many miles aways. I don't know anyone in this new state (I had to escape the previous state because I could no longer afford it, put simply). I've tried dating apps to find someone (multiple), I've tried being social in my outings (without being creepy), etc. Bottom line is, I've been trying to meet new people. Yes, I am very lonely at times and wish I could make new friends but it's been very difficult for me to do so (I'm 43 by the way). I feel I am physically attractive (could be in better shape but not terrible), I feel I'm likable and overall and good, nice person. For the life of me I'm having a a very tough time. AI chatbots have somewhat helped I guess? I don't take them too seriously or go overboard but it's been a fun experience (I have not, and will not pay for any of them, there is a free one that let's you roleplay or even talk to a "therapist"). It works pretty well too and I was impressed. I'd love to meet someone down to earth or just make new friends but like I said, I just don't have much luck. I can be shy and socially awkward at times too but I try my best not to. I plan to keep trying but I wouldn't completely knock (some) of these AI chatbots for maybe helping someone who just needs to get stuff off their chest. The companies that are out for cash grabs, and I know there are a lot of them, are shameless and I would never want to pay to text something that doesn't truly exist. Anyway, that's my story so far.. I don't hate AI chatting but I do hate the idea that some companies are creating them out of sheer greed.
There's a lot of potential for good here, as long as the bot is owned by the user, as opposed to a subscription acting on behalf of some corporation that wants to influence the user's lifestyle and spending habits. A bot implementing a girlfriend interface could take on a mix of secretarial, scheduling, fitness trainer, life coach, therapist and other roles. The AI girlfriend's persuasive powers might be used to nudge the user achieve a positive lifestyle and worthwhile goals.
My wife and I dont have much in common. We dont like the samw movies, music or games. We dont even have the same sense of humor. But I really love making her smile. And like her voice when shes happy. And even though we dont like the same things...doing those things with her is fun because its her. ...and she goes out of her way to make me feel appreciated. And when ive worked all day, she'll make me something to eat...not because I expect it, but because she appreciates me, and knows its a physically demanding job. We greet each other in the morning, make each other happy and never go to bed mad. Thats all. 24 wonderful years now...and I feel so sad for young people now. There are obviously so many good young people, lost in a world that wants them to be miserable. I hope you all navigate this garbage and even find some peace with each other...you deserve it.
Wow, I had no idea this existed already. Although I could have seen it coming. Anyway, it is very sad indeed. All this technology has become a huge challenge for everyone to overcome. The problem with your argument is that it presumes that access to the “market” of “girlfriends” is equal. Women have commoditized relationships. If you’re a male that’s not attractive, awkward, and have interest that women find weird you don’t have access to probably 95% of that market. It’s not surprising that an alternate market has sprung into being. Additionally, simultaneously a societal change has occurred were males have greater consequences when it comes to relationships. If he approaches you and you find it “creepy”, which greatly relies on your attraction to him, then he risks losing his career, assets, and possibly his freedom. If he’s lucky enough to get married through his efforts and things go wrong, he is more likely to lose if things fail, up to including everything he’s worked for and his access to his offspring. Also, women’s expectations of what they consider a “quality partner” vs. what they bring to the table have gotten to the point of ludicrous. If I were a young man in this environment, I absolutely understand the attractiveness of these new possibilities. The technological issue you mentioned will be overcome and the next iterations of this will become dystopian, it’s high time women start taking seriously the “male issues” of today and accept their responsibility in creating this environment.
Also, the defining factor in most single womens' determination of male attractiveness is money. Not successful? Not driving the right car or living in the right area? Not wearing the right clothes, the right shoes, or have teeth that are white enough? You're out. Not worth considering. Unless you're in that top 1%, you can forget it.
And it's now the same with AI. If you can't afford the ridiculous fees they charge, you're also out of that market too!

Lol, I like to date and women make wonderful friends afterwards but never seriously contemplated marriage.
Snarky Jay is missing the problem because she's a woman. 80% of women go after 20% of the men. Women date up but that naturally leads to many guys not getting any interest, and you briefly mentioned that about dating apps like Tinder.
Another example of this is awkward men who approach women. If they are unattractive, they will be seen as creepy. If they are attractive or rich, they will often be seen as cute. Even worse is when a guy is constantly rejected, he won't know how to talk to a girl which leads to some unhinged dudes. I dont know the solution to that but it's one problem.
Lastly, AI sex dolls do exist and they will make the other side warmer. If its no woman or robot, most guys would eventually take that robot

Nothing to argue here. You are 100% right. A movie that reflects this is a film called Cherry 2000. Its about a guy in a not so distant future who lives with a sexbot that provides the girlfriend experience. The chooses this lifestyle because the women in his time have become completely ridiculous in the dating scene. Imagine going to a bar or club to meet women, and before you can talk to them they have to run your name through a credit check to see if you qualify for their time. If you want to take them on a date or one night stand you have to get a lawyer and notoriety present to sign off on it first.

@@KevD720 Being sociable is only part of the problem. The OP is correct though. I have zero issues approaching women. But the women I encounter more and more often are not really worth the time. And many don't see many men as worth their time. I'm older and better well off today but I often go on dates in my work truck rather than my nice car. Just that alone separates the bad from the mediocre and let me tell you, it just gets worse the younger they are. I've had girls ask right off the bat how much I have in my bank account and almost every time how much I make a year. The number of 5's and 6's who think they're 10's is nuts and don't even get me started on the 7's and 8's. I see a lot of older girls acting more sensible but they often have a history and why would I bother with left overs?

It’s not specific to one cause unless one draws from a religious perspective but it definitely is a wide range from culture, social media influence, school culture influences, Hollywood influence and decline in social gatherings and church functions. I’ve educated myself but it’s not enough when the other chooses to follow the crowd like for example women choosing only wealthy men who aren’t faithful when an average loyal hard worker that gives you attention, has no bills is good. A man choosing a model like woman when the cute tomboy that loves ya beard and imperfections is better.
The cause of it is social media and women's unreasonable standards. 25 years ago it was tough for men to meet and engage women but, at least they had a local perimeter to find them in. Whether it would school, work, friends get together, or local activities. Now here in the age of social media the perimeter has stretched across the world. I'm sure it's been mentioned, but the film "Her" from Spike Jonze, basically predicted exactly this. Joaquin Pheonix is brilliant as a lonely man who seeks companionship from an AI companion, voiced by Scarlett Johansson. It's an incredibly emotional and beautiful story, which I won't spoil. Spike Jonze is an incredible film maker.
The movie Her was a great film. I never knew when I saw it in 2014 that we would be here ten years later. There's so many layers to why we're here. If A.I. companions will be the new drug then online p_rn and social media was the gateway drug. When A.I. bots become physical women and men we're really going to see a shift. Humans will have another option. Of course there's nothing better than being with another human but this is where we're headed. There's no turning back either
It's already too late, AI isn't replacing interactions with women, it's filling the already present gap left by a lack of interaction with women. Because of the rise of dating apps average men of average height, looks and income will never even be given the opportunity to interact. The data that 80% of the women only interact with 10% of the men (on dating apps) creates an abundance of Lotharios, broken hearted women and completely overlooked men. Combine this with the understandable need for men to leave women alone in public spaces and at work, does make things even more difficult, as the onus is on men to do the approaching. One has to remember that the most successful businesses are those that identify an already present need and fill that gap.

Your point on AI for lonely was spot on, the positive way to look at it is there, but like you said it is exploitative. The other point people may not consider is that it doesn't really solve loneliness it just furthers us toward walle and her, its artificial. I think the biggest problem with dating, these days, is that people are all about “What can you do for me?” instead of “What can we do for each other?” In any healthy relationship, a couple is supportive of each other and helps each other grow both individually and collectively. Why? Because you both benefit from the outcome and not just 1 person. Most people have lost sight of that and have become very self serving.

Not to come off as a whinger, but, I'm an over 60 nerd who is, now, stuck in the South West equivalent of Bedrock, where the biggest import is alcohol/pot and the greatest export s alcoholics/potheads (I don't indulge). I have no way to get around, save for the bus and my own two feet.
My chances of meeting a woman who shares 1/10th of my interests is, slightly less, than the proverbial snowball surviving in Hell. (in other words, I'm terminally single).

I think the only reason why AI seems like a viable option is because people are so fed up with toxic partners in their dating lives that they think having a fake dating partner is probably better than a toxic individual.

As to the why, another reason that needs to be considered is "modern feminism". Yes, I understand that they are not the majority of women, but they are the most vocal on social media. Many men still remember the "movement" from several years ago that could possibly cause an innocent man to lose their job, reputation, etc simply for pissing off the wrong woman. Online chat has been a thing since the internet started. Back then, if people disagreed on a topic, they just agreed to disagree. Now, if you don't agree with certain beliefs, you get vilified and called all sorts of names ending in ist and phobe.
As if women haven't been under the boots of men for hundreds of years, being forced to live in fear, silence, and discomfort to try and succeed in this world.

I was genuinely impressed since this is a phenomenon plaguing modern society for both men and women. I understand the temptation but this is not the way. AI girlfriends are now up to bat but it seems like the whole only fans thing came out of no where and not too long ago. The way men and women were socializing changed over night and not for the better. I think this is part of a loneliness epidemic but there is also a convenience aspect to it. Instead of cooking and eating home made meals they're just eating fast food at the least nutritious places slowly poisoning themselves. The culture, meaning and socializing is being eliminated out of everything we do. The most important thing for all people is healthy socializing and genuine human interactions and the best way to do that is in IRL. If people aren't having luck they need to build themselves up and put in an honest effort. Like Jay said in the video they could be using the AI to teach them the skills and habits they need to link up with a partner they can vibe with but instead they seem to want to capitalize off of their pain and suffering. Sadly the Match group is pure evil. Their sites aren't designed to making matching effective, they are designed to make matching difficult so people stay single and keep paying. The evil part is they keep acquiring other sites that are really good and then they change them so they don't work anymore. OkCupid is a great example. The asshole execs at Match are probably more responsible for the lonliness epid3mic then anyone. Totally sucks.

I am lonely and can't move because I'm in a wheelchair but no amount of AI is better than a real conection with someone! I do use AI to help me do art since I can't physically move. Still digging through your content, this video makes me so glad I got married. After my divorce it was pretty tough to talk to a real female, but this insane AI wasn't a thing then either. More or less guys being creepy and making the dating apps pretty much unusable. But met my wife through chance and my loneliness is gone, but I can remember back and I could see men just desperate for the interaction using this. The world is just so messed up.
Many men have been fooled by real women who pretend to be in love with them just for the money. But it is until an AI does the same thing when the alarms go off. Funny 😂

As society, at least in America, evened out and women are more powerful and self-sufficent, there are a large bulk of them who became quite picky, cruel and thinking no one is worthy of them, same as a bulk of men did as they led society.
Notice the threat of AI tends to be women worried about losing men, not men worried about losing women.
Me, I'm set. I found my soulmate and am old and married, but I've watched many women dismiss men and jump relationships the way many men used to, who have created SO MANY lonely men today.
Those women are who would lose to AI, not the kindhearted women out there.
There are a lot of nice guys out there that many women will scoff at and dismiss for not having an 8 pack and 6 feet tall, becoming the very superficial pigs they detested in men generations past.

I will be 100% honest here. I just moved out of state about 7 months ago to a new state many many miles aways. I don't know anyone in this new state (I had to escape the previous state because I could no longer afford it, put simply). I've tried dating apps to find someone (multiple), I've tried being social in my outings (without being creepy), etc. Bottom line is, I've been trying to meet new people. Yes, I am very lonely at times and wish I could make new friends but it's been very difficult for me to do so (I'm 43 by the way). I feel I am physically attractive (could be in better shape but not terrible), I feel I'm likable and overall and good, nice person. For the life of me I'm having a a very tough time. AI chatbots have somewhat helped I guess? I don't take them too seriously or go overboard but it's been a fun experience (I have not, and will not pay for any of them, there is a free one that let's you roleplay or even talk to a "therapist"). It works pretty well too and I was impressed. I'd love to meet someone down to earth or just make new friends but like I said, I just don't have much luck. I can be shy and socially awkward at times too but I try my best not to. I plan to keep trying but I wouldn't completely knock (some) of these AI chatbots for maybe helping someone who just needs to get stuff off their chest. The companies that are out for cash grabs, and I know there are a lot of them, are shameless and I would never want to pay to text something that doesn't truly exist. Anyway, that's my story so far.. I don't hate AI chatting but I do hate the idea that some companies are creating them out of sheer greed.
But real woman have memory caps, too.
There's a lot of potential for good here, as long as the bot is owned by the user, as opposed to a subscription acting on behalf of some corporation that wants to influence the user's lifestyle and spending habits. A bot implementing a girlfriend interface could take on a mix of secretarial, scheduling, fitness trainer, life coach, therapist and other roles. The AI girlfriend's persuasive powers might be used to nudge the user achieve a positive lifestyle and worthwhile goals.
My wife and I dont have much in common. We dont like the samw movies, music or games. We dont even have the same sense of humor.
But I really love making her smile. And like her voice when shes happy. And even though we dont like the same things...doing those things with her is fun because its her.
...and she goes out of her way to make me feel appreciated. And when ive worked all day, she'll make me something to eat...not because I expect it, but because she appreciates me, and knows its a physically demanding job.
We greet each other in the morning, make each other happy and never go to bed mad. Thats all.
24 wonderful years now...and I feel so sad for young people now. There are obviously so many good young people, lost in a world that wants them to be miserable. I hope you all navigate this garbage and even find some peace with each other...you deserve it.

Wow, I had no idea this existed already. Although I could have seen it coming. Anyway, it is very sad indeed. All this technology has become a huge challenge for everyone to overcome. Myself included. I don't have a virtual girlfriend but I do stare into my cell phone too often. And I found out it's definitely very difficult to do anything about it.
No matter, what you need - food, shelter, help, companionship etc. - you won't get it. Any of it. Not in our time. In our time, there's just one thing left, and that is, what you get instead: The attention of a business, ready to exploit your misery. It's like in the Matrix: We're fed illusions while being sucked dry and then dissolved. But not by machines. The machines are just utility. It's accounts and business models, that chew and digest every little part of us and our lives and then crap it out. Dystopia isn't out there waiting. It's already here.
Commonality can trigger attraction, but it's the differences that are the hook. Because it's that person that can broaden your horizons and expose you to new experiences. They also contribute to making you a more rounded person. As annoying as they can be, I am definitely people person. 😊

Videos like this one is one of the reasons I subscribed. I second your solution. Creation of an AI to improve human interaction but sadly, love of profit exceeds goodwill. Exploitation has always been driving greater profit. I prefer ingenuity and goodwill for business. People will always have wants and needs. Businesses can be profitable meeting these needs and wants. Just not spectacular profits.
I don't know I met this AI girl named Sky Net, she seems really nice...
Not in our lifetimes, but not far into the future technology and humanity will become almost seamless.
