    I've always loved Aretha. Recently, I've spent a few years studying her music more deeply for work. What I came to learn is that while she gave America pop, she gave the world a light that, at best, can only be imitated.
    I recall, in the 90s, when she filled in last minute for Pavarotti at the Grammys (he had laryngitis), to sing HIS classic "Nessun Forma", and literally brought the entire house to it's feet crying. (It's the equivalent of if Pavarotti filled in to sing "Natural Woman". 🤔)
    Sting didn't know what to say when the camera when back to him to continue MC duties.
    Aretha is one of the greatest of all time, of all genres, of all instruments, of all people.
    Her light will never be extinguished

    15:21 "Lady Soul" gives another masterclass on how she team composes with her sister, Caroline, and arranges around her piano.
    Even the queen must humble herself, stay quiet, listen, and learn from those who know more than her, before she can take her place.
    EVERY music student must see this before they consider themselves "composers"

      So true. Today's artists really don't know their craft. They're not learning music on instruments. Music has been removed from many public schools... deliberately in my opinion. A certain sector of America does not want to see Black greatness anymore. We who are older have to find ways to influence young people for the better.

    I am so glad that I grew up listening to Ms. Aretha. She was a mover and shaker in the civil rights arena, also. She offered to pay bail for Angela Davis back in the day. Paraphrasing: she said Black folks helped her make the money, she felt she should spend that money to help Black ppl. Many of our entertainers felt that way back then. I read that she quit smoking cigarettes shortly after the first album. Glad she quit. This brought tears to my eyes and great memories. BTW she was also the Queen 👑 of shade 🤣 Thanks ReelBlack.

    I cannot see how this piece of real history could receive even one single thumbs down! I absolutely love the spirit of love and triumph in air, in the energy of all the beautiful faces, especially the children! That was priceless. Worth more than gold. We need to get back to this depth of love, agape love ...Jesus showed us the Way, we all just got distracted and lied to. No more. Lets make things right by Love. Not hate. By forgiveness not vengeance. By truth not deception.

    • @TealJadeTurquoise1
      @TealJadeTurquoise1 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@djceo7232 It is not really subjective. It is more observational. I cannot be subjective about something I was not their to experience. I can, however, observe that they appeared to be well spoken.
      As for modern society, when you have too many people who struggle to make grammatically correct sentences and make them make sense, that does appear to be a lack of something. Now, it could be that too many are being given the microphone for that purpose. Please don't get me wrong, there are some super smart people out here trying to speak truth. I know they exist. I just wish we would see more of them.
      Now, is that better? I wish we saw more strong conversations and rhetoric from scholarly, but humble people. I don't know if it would make things better, but I can hope. Thank you for your comment.

    I had seen footage or snippets from this before, but never the entire feature. I commend the people that authorized the camera to follow her at that time. Seeing her early years and collaborations with musicians, Bobby Womack, and others creating her sound then, was incredible. The producers and Carolyn helping her to get it right was an added touch to detail that made her reign perfection. My thanks to the posting of this. It is a worth story to be shared.
