      Hi Carol! Thank you so much! I'm sure thats not true, I'm bet your great! I will get over to your channel to watch. The garden is my space to slow down. Sometimes I try to get a bunch of things done since time is at a premium, and other times I just try to slow down and enjoy, definitely not easy for me since I'm such a busy body. But I appreciate your kind words, thanks for being here and for watching.

      @HookedandRooted  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Estelle! I would say your doing great if 33/40 came back. It was a very strange winter for weather, and that is a tough gardening zone as its very cold and your season is so short. Its taken 10 years/seasons of gardening here for the gardens to fill out. Yours will be there in no time. Thanks for watching.

    • @HookedandRooted
      @HookedandRooted  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jessica! This bed of mine is very wet. It holds onto a lot of moisture and drains poorly. I'm fairly certain that's what ended up killing the pugster butterfly bushes. It was a tough winter for plants. Too wet, then dry, then a polar vortex. Just very extreme swings.

    • @HookedandRooted
      @HookedandRooted  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to hear Kristine. I think the issue with mine is the moisture they receive. The soil stays wet in that bed I have near my patio. I also feed with rose tone in late winter early spring, and again after they have bloomed their first flush. Great tip about not watering the leaves! I've tried to get better about that as well.

      @@HookedandRooted I think you’re probably right! We had a very short spring! The last 10 days we’ve had all temps in the 90s 😭💔 and almost no rain! Just a brief sprinkle here and there. Very unusual Midwest weather. I managed to cut and refrigerate all my peony blooms because I knew they would shrivel in the heat. The good news: I’ve never seen my summer plants this big this early! My echinacea, hydrangeas, roses and dahlias are all very happy!!

      Hello Francesca, Yes you can move your perennials now. But its best to do it in the evening as the sun is starting to weaken, and set. Also, if possible keep the transplants shaded for a day or two by using a chair or umbrella so that they aren't getting too much direct sun as they adjust to the transplant. Lastly keep the transplanted perennial well watered for a couple of weeks until its settled in its new spot. Hope this helps. Take care!

    Poppies need a lot of water when the began to send up their scapes , or they will be short

      Thank you so much! That is great to know! I've killed some perennial poppies before from overwatering. So I probably underwatered these. I appreciate it! Hopefully they make it through to next year, and with more moisture bloom beautifully.

      @@HookedandRooted I’ve learned with poppies if I allow them to self seed they grow stronger than ever and after your current plants go through a good winter, they will be extremely robust, the hard part is getting through the summer, I find part sun areas to be my best luck. Happy growing 🌸

      Oh it's coming up next, and I can't wait!! We've been working so hard in the new garden in the back yard, that it hasn't left much time for anything else. Should be the next vid 😊
