After listening to several of your videos, I decided to switch off my phone after work. I set up a drawing space in my home, ready for me, a new page in my sketchbook open and waiting, beside waiting, neatly lined-up assortment of pens and pencils. The hardest part was that first blank page in my first sketchbook. For that I followed a youtube tutorial. After that I found objects around the house and drew them on other pages. I have learned to love my art-time. Just messin’ around, seeing and sketching shapes. Now time doesn’t seem wasted. I have a momento of each day. Pretty cool. Thanks for the inspiration ❤ love your channel.

    Hi Danny.
The majority of artists out here on TH-cam just film their creations and add some music and post. A little chat so.etimes but not much.
BUT you......... are like an Art Therapist to be precise.
I certainly am glad I came across your channel. I don't watch ALL of the time but that is the thing about your channel..... I can just listen.
You help to bring calmness to lives through creation. That is inspiring.
Keep up the great work. It's getting dark and cold in Alaska so I'll need your company through this winter. Lol!

I like to wind down every night by flipping back through my sketchbooks. It reminds, and amazes me how much I have created, good and bad. I learn from each drawing. Thanks so much for all your encouraging words!

After not drawing for many years I started a notebook about a month ago. At first my drawings were reflections of what I did so many years ago. After a month my art has matured. I am committed to drawing each day for two years. Thanks you for your wisdom.

Good morning Danny! I can't explain how your precise explanations yet simple but meaningful inspirations you put out there in the world. You're such a generous man.
I carefully watched this video and I discovered that I have a problem with perfectionism and it has hindered my progress in drawing each time I thin of it. Well, now I think you've insighted on my weakness and I'll change it immediately and I'll not care whether I draw something good or bad.
Instead I'll drawing everyday and the future is bright ✌️
Regards to you and your family. I love Mr. Danny!!!

Putting it down on paper with my hand, doesn't matter if it's a masterpiece, a sketch or a doodle, or a grocery list, tells my brain,
'this is important, this matters' and so I'm more likely to pay attention. I try things, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, and if something doesn't work I try again.

I'm a senior and beginner, but so far every drawing tells me, "you can't do this. You are so lame thinking you should try to do this." I'm trying to ignore those rude comments.

Good evening Danny, I had told you before after receiving a weekly essay from you, that you are a bit of a phycologist to me at times, like a counselor speaking to my soul. I appreciate this bonus on top of your great art lessons very much. :) Thanks, Fran

I am so glad that I found this website. I have grown so very much just from trying again and seeing the payoff from doing it. I love to know that there are millions of people all around me that are reaching to catch a star with a pencil or paint brush. I can relate to the calmness it creates inside!

I come from a culture where you don’t waste things because we grew up being told “money doesn’t grow on trees” etc. I was wondering why I shy away from keeping a sketch book (i love art, and paint sometimes) for me, I realised, it has to be either something ‘worth doing ’ or nit start at all, so empty canvases stare back …. And that’s why nothing gets started. It’s very frustrating. I think I have serious shortage consciousness. I am not poor and am a pretty good artist, but never experiment. I go for controlled art that I know will turn out fine. Doodling seems to me like waste of paper and ink or pencil. I have never been so aware of my thoughts on this….. and I think k I will start with a little sketch book and a pencil first. Thankyou so much. You helped me see something so clearly in me xx

I hope sketching starts relieving stress instead of creating it. I really want to do this. I think I probably just need to go slower than this group moves.

How do I know what to draw. I have a blank mind visually since I hurt my head. I can only copy now. My creativity seems to have left me. But I still want to draw. I just get stuck thinking of things to draw…I have tried drawing google pictures. But it is only as good as you know what to look up. Do people have a method for finding inspiration. Or do you just draw “ cool” things… thanks

Wow, you put so much into a short video, and all so true. I don't know if I would have appreciated how true if I had not been drawing for so many years.
BTW, thank you - Years ago I came across "Art Before Breakfast" at the library and it changed how I look at drawing. That little book profoundly affected my life.

Apparently scientists have had trouble defining stress. No one thought to ask a mother of three pre-schoolers trying to prepare the evening meal.
Unlike others I never lost touch with my inner child. There is nothing more fun than your inner child. Kids can see the absurdities in life and laugh at them, something adults don't often do.
I stopped worrying about what others think a long time ago. For one thing I have to value their opinions for them to be worth listening to. And that means I have to know them and care what they think. And as I usually don't know them then what they think is of little relevance.

@@SketchBookSkool so what's wierd is I went back and zoned in on the texture of the peach 🍑. The speckles and shades and the bruise . I sort of worked my way out . I guess I feel like I worked backwards from the details to the basic form. It's still not shaped like a peach but it could be s fruit I suppose. I got the Sketchbook . I'll just see what develops .
