This was the demo that convinced me to buy this pickup, and I was not disappointed at all. Put one in the bridge of my Epiphone Sheraton II along with a Phat Cat in the neck. Tone for days. Now if only I could play like Doug.
Just recently discovered these pickups. I needed a set, thought Id take a gamble, ordered the nickel covered set, and spent my 4th of July weekend wiring them up. OH MY GOD! I have never heard a more perfect, more musical set of humbuckers. Ever. These are everything I always wanted a humbucker to be. Both neck and bridge. What an absolute grand slam of a pickup!!!!!
I purchased a set of these pickups and they instantly became my favorite. These are the best all around pickups I've ever played. Some much clarity and dynamic range!
This demo convinced me to put this bridge pickup in my epiphone sg. Im in college to be an engineer and my dad had given me a couple crash courses in soldering and I had my own kit, so I decided to put the pickup in by myself. Yes, it worked and I'm proud of that. But what was even more impressive of a "happy accident" was that I wired it wrong somehow. I tried to channel Clapton's Woman Tone from SOYL. and my guitar made a Wah effect. Full open like I like the pedal (for tone purposes rather than an effect). I wired my guitar to sound like a Wah pedal 😂😂
I was sold as soon as I heard that thick gnarly crunch and tbat butter lead tone. The rest was just icing on the cake. The thickness on that leads reminds me a lot of Angus' Young's earlier tones.
I have been watching this video multiple times a day, since it was released, and I just cannot get enough. I have a request tho SD folks, please release a follow up series where perhaps Doug shares his thoughts on these pickups, and kind of digs into what the pickups bring to the table. Also, as for all the awesome new SD videos, a bloopers real would be AWESOME!
Think I’ve had these pickups for almost 2 years in my lp and I still get amazed by how good they sound. I play through my Line 6 Pod Go with headphones and I don’t think it gets much better than this. They have crunch, mellow cleans, and everything in between.
Seen a bunch of demos and it doesnt matter what kind of guitars, amps or pickups his using it all sounds the same which is great! Its in his hands plus tons of heart&soul.
Great playing! I have a set of these pickups in my Les Paul Custom. These pickups sound amazing in my guitar!!!! The tone from these pickups is incredibl. I can play anything from Benson in the neck pickup to a screaming Tele chicken pickin' tone! Great job by Seymour Duncan!!!!!
I just had a set fitted to my LP and I couldn't be happier. I use a Blackstar valve combo and the combination is just what I was looking for. These pickups do exactly what the publicity says they will. An excellent pickup for classic/blues/70s rock. Both my amp and guitar sound better than ever...I am a VERY happy customer :)
Dang these things are some of the best humbuckers I've heard! Edit- I have now watched this video half a dozen times. I will be buying a set right after I finish this comment!
THANKS , I have listened to this so many times. I wish I could put those in my SG sounds like the perfect combination. Hope that my son will be able to play like that some day.
I just installed these on my PRS 245. They're hands down the best pickups i've heard. Granted, I can't play as well as this guy, but my tone is a spot on match.. I'm using an ID core Blackstar and these are bad ass!!! Buy these PERIOD 👍🏼🎸
His phrasing in this video and sound is so tasteful , beautifully evolving sound. 10/10 . Must have watched this YT Video a million times . Rock on everyone ! Put these in my Sheraton II. Beast.
These pickups sound so amazing! Seymour never fails to impress. I think the bridge Saturday Night Special will be going in my next project guitar. I will be making a Fender Esquire type guitar with a mahogany body and a humbucker bridge and I think I have found the pickup that will be going in the bridge.
I put one of these in the bridge of my Carvin CS6. The website describes this pickup as perfect for replicating that late-70's arena rock tone...that's about the best way to describe it. I was blown away by how good it sounds. It is very responsive to heavy or light picking and rolling the guitar volume back. My Carvin and Marshall DSL stack together sounded pretty darn good before. Now they sound like pure gold. My original plan was to only replace the bridge pickup. I really like the C22N neck pickup in my Carvin but after hearing how good the Saturday Night Special bridge sounds, I may replace the neck pup as well.
OMG, Doug's playing is phenomenal! I'm older generation, and his solos just took me back to the days when guitarist felt each and every note! Don't get me wrong, I love all genres of music, but his was something special for me. Awesome!!! Love the pickups! I think I just found the right set for my double humbucker T style guitar. Granted I will not get his tone, but will have fun trying!
+Seymour Duncan How did you come up with the name? Play on the rock concert show names, Midnight Special and/or Don Kirshner's Rock Concert? Those were some great shows!!!
Smoking! Love to see Doug Rappoport live! Just picked up a set of these for my 2020 Am-Pro II Tele Deluxe. Hoping I get some great tones out of them. If not, I can always try them in my '61 SG Reissue.
I bought a bridge model for a Strat. I use a Dr. Z Route 66 with pedals and it sounds thin and has a ton of mid bite. I even went with a 250k pot to tame it. Yeah, that amp makes a huge difference.
Really tempted to stick a pair in my PRS Bernie... people have said online that the specs for these are very similar to the McCarthy-era PRS pickups, so they'd be a good fit if so.
I have the first iteration of the whole lotta hbs on my 79 Silverburst,Sounds amazing. My 61 SG has two SH1s which I think are the most amazing HBs out there. And I had Maricela make a pair of Telegib Hbs which I put on my Telegib since I couldn't get a 35 Guitar. Oh and my Flying V which is a 67 RI has Pearly Gates which compliment the guitar to sonic nirvana.....
Coincidentally, today I was looking into some hotter PAF voiced pickups for my SG and these SD stood out along with some Dimarzio fortitudes so uh...thanks for settling that debate for me. Beautiful sound. Even better playing.
This dude is by far one of the BEST guitar players out there. Way too underrated.
Yes absolutely !!
Yeah dude. His phrasings are beautiful. I wish I had chops and creativity like that.
Juan Germano Just incredible playing. His chops are what I'm striving for.
NO DOUBT !!!!!!!! so much sole-- --- ---- --- ----
Just who is underrating him?
Dang it just doesn't get better than THIS!!
Your JJ amplifier demo was great too
You said it
every note he plays mean so much... it just connects with me.
How dramatic
Come back here every now and again to hear that killer playing. Slayed this demo. Bought the pickups years ago because of it.
This was the demo that convinced me to buy this pickup, and I was not disappointed at all. Put one in the bridge of my Epiphone Sheraton II along with a Phat Cat in the neck. Tone for days. Now if only I could play like Doug.
Omg, paired with a phat cat in that layout... That's exactly what I was thinking watching this.
One of the BEST demos of ANYTHING I've ever seen and heard. WOW is all I can say. Doug Rappoport is an Awesome Guitarist.
Purchased these for my SG before the video even finished!
And how do you like them compared to the stock pups?
Mustang Nut love them a whole much more than the stock pups! They sound amazing
Hi Dylan, how would you describe the bottom end on these ? tight / loose..and the mids , more upper midrange or lower?
Just installed them in my Custom SG with coil splits. They sound more defined than the SD 59’s, with tighter bass tones. Both are great choices.
hahahaha

I'm a huge fan of Dougs, hopefully he gets some more recognition. Just has so much charisma in his playing.
I purchased a set of these pickups and they instantly became my favorite. These are the best all around pickups I've ever played. Some much clarity and dynamic range!

Guessing you soldered them out of phase with each other?
I was sold as soon as I heard that thick gnarly crunch and tbat butter lead tone. The rest was just icing on the cake. The thickness on that leads reminds me a lot of Angus' Young's earlier tones.
I have been watching this video multiple times a day, since it was released, and I just cannot get enough. These are great ideas!! We do occasionally release blooper reels- we have a lot!
+Seymour Duncan Just more videos featuring Dougs playing would be awesome.. only a matter of time before he really blows up. what a player!
I love Doug's playing!! Aside from all of my growing up years hero's that I had,he has become my new hero! That pickup sounds amazing as well!
That SG sounds amazing in those hands!
Rappaport is amazing. probably one of my new favorites. and that guit love face. .
I clicked on the video to check out the pickups 10 seconds into the video I forgot all about the pickups. This guy is awesome!
Think I’ve had these pickups for almost 2 years in my lp and I still get amazed by how good they sound. I play through my Line 6 Pod Go with headphones and I don’t think it gets much better than this. They have crunch, mellow cleans, and everything in between.
Hands down the best vintage output pickups I've heard in a long time.
Hi
Don't forget that we don't hear only the pickups
Is the right combination that matters
Pedals amplifier speakers 😉
Seen a bunch of demos and it doesnt matter what kind of guitars, amps or pickups his using it all sounds the same which is great! Its in his hands plus tons of heart&soul.
Man.... that “Can’t Find My Way Home” melody at the beginning was dope🔥🧨
Great sounding pickups with one of the best players out there, awesome
Seen a million demo videos, this is one of the very best. Produced/edited well, and absolutely killer tone.

These pickups do exactly what the publicity says they will. An excellent pickup for classic/blues/70s rock. Both my amp and guitar sound better than ever...I am a VERY happy customer :)
I could keep watching this over and over.
Dang these things are some of the best humbuckers I've heard!
Edit- I have now watched this video half a dozen times. I will be buying a set right after I finish this comment!
Those first finger bends and vibrato. Very nice.
His phrasing is amazing.
THANKS , I have listened to this so many times. I wish I could put those in my SG sounds like the perfect combination. Hope that my son will be able to play like that some day.
Love Doug's phrasing ! Great pickups !
I bought these pups for my Epi Paul, great upgrade. People make comments that they wish their Paul would sound like mine😊😊😊
Love to hear that! Thank you!!!
The best Duncan demo ever!
the playing is so good, it took a while to notice how badass the studio is
I just installed these on my PRS 245. They're hands down the best pickups i've heard. Granted, I can't play as well as this guy, but my tone is a spot on match.. I'm using an ID core Blackstar and these are bad ass!!! Buy these PERIOD 👍🏼🎸
Thank you for the kind words! We are so happy you like them!
This is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. The player, the guitar, the tone, the studio....wow. This is why I love being a guitarist. Bravo sir.
Thank you for noticing! We think so, too!
I should be thanking you...All my guitars have SD's. These video's for your pickups are stunning and extremely informative.
God bless you much today and every day Doug. Love your blues on the Texas seymour duncan video. Amazing
Keith's rhythm tone sounds gnarly through virtually any setup. That first clip definitely had a touch of Merrow in it!
i just cat stop coming back to this video, everything about it fills me with joy, such amazing tone and playing, great expression, on his face too,lol
Man, those pickups sound great! I’ve checked out almost all the other vintage Seymour Duncan’s, but never these. Very nice.
Saw Doug.
Clicked, right away.
Knew it was good before I even heard it.
THIS is how you demo pickups! Flawless victory!!!
This is the best way selling the product. Cheers.
Seymour Duncan did it again, those are so nice clean sounding pickups with pristine gain tone It has that vintage PAF sound.
Rappoport has made a killer demo, the pickups sound really great in differents settings.
Sheeessh! That tone in the opener! That feel! Man, I’m just inspired and thankful!
I wish i could take a few lessons. Pick his brain for a hour. Your an inspiration Doug.
Doug for president! He's such a different player. Such taste.
Love them. I just recently put a set of active EMG Hot 77 pickups and they're just too hot for me. I REALLY like how these sound. I'm sold!
Man Seymour Duncan is on a roll! I hadn't heard of Doug Rappoport before but man he's good! These are definitely going into my LP.
His phrasing in this video and sound is so tasteful , beautifully evolving sound. 10/10 . Must have watched this YT Video a million times . Rock on everyone ! Put these in my Sheraton II. Beast.
dayum those are nice sounding pickups!!
very nice work on this sound ! my 50ish years old ear love it :)
and indeed all this studio rig looks/sounds awesome
Imagine the disappointment! Everybody getting these pups but nobody be sounding like Doug E. Rapps!!!
You playing is insane man. These pickups too.
These pickups sound so amazing! Seymour never fails to impress. I think the bridge Saturday Night Special will be going in my next project guitar. I will be making a Fender Esquire type guitar with a mahogany body and a humbucker bridge and I think I have found the pickup that will be going in the bridge.
Doug the Man. Nice looking studio.
Doug always makes me want to buy everything he touches 😁
Thank you! The more I hear of the 'Saturday', the more I like it. I think they would sound great in my LP Classic :)
I have a totally man crush on this pickup :)
You can really tell when someone enjoys the sound they are playing.. love that little leg lift :)
Rappaport= perfect tone/technique. luv all my Duncans....I dont have these yet....but.
Doug I like the new demo gig with SD.
Sweet mother of god, that sounds fantastic!
Fantastic player as always. This SG's wood grain is awesome by the way.!
Best Gibson SG I've ever heard. But then again, it's all down to the dude on the fingerboard.
Rappaport is awesome pickups sound killer too!
My original plan was to only replace the bridge pickup. I really like the C22N neck pickup in my Carvin but after hearing how good the Saturday Night Special bridge sounds, I may replace the neck pup as well.
Awesome! We are happy you found your tone (at least in the bridge...for now).
These pick ups seem to be a perfect balance! very keen to get some
Wonderful Tone and playing
OMG, Doug's playing is phenomenal! I'm older generation, and his solos just took me back to the days when guitarist felt each and every note! Don't get me wrong, I love all genres of music, but his was something special for me. Awesome!!! Love the pickups! I think I just found the right set for my double humbucker T style guitar. Granted I will not get his tone, but will have fun trying!
Let us know how it turns out! We agree that Doug is a rare breed these days.
+Seymour Duncan How did you come up with the name? Play on the rock concert show names, Midnight Special and/or Don Kirshner's Rock Concert? Those were some great shows!!!
Yes they were! But I would guess that the name has more to do with a famous Southern rock song.
+Seymour Duncan
Knew it! Now I've got an idea of what it'd sound like in my faded sg special. Solid playing and great demo! Rock on!
How do they compare with the screamin demon pup ? similar less compression and output by what i see
Smoking! Love to see Doug Rappoport live! Just picked up a set of these for my 2020 Am-Pro II Tele Deluxe. Hoping I get some great tones out of them. If not, I can always try them in my '61 SG Reissue.
Hi 😊
Did you put them in the Tele?
And?
Your Tele has the wide range hums?
I think this guy will sound great with every pickup.
doug rocks and so these pickups.
Tasty playing as usual from Doug! Big fan here.
Best tone yet out of a SG. Bad ass player makes ALL the difference. He could make a Teisco scream.
Great sounding pickups! Doug is THE Man!!!!
Great tone! Hopefully I can get the same tone.
I bet ALL my pickups would sound great into a $3,600 amp!
I bet ALL my pickups would sound great if Doug was playing them!
I bought a bridge model for a Strat. I use a Dr. Z Route 66 with pedals and it sounds thin and has a ton of mid bite. I even went with a 250k pot to tame it. Yeah, that amp makes a huge difference.
Except.. you know.. not good sounding ones.. are you a serious person? Get some gear and know stuff.
@@stanesposito2664 Are Dr. Z pickups generally good? Thanks.
@@patrickbuster8341 Dr. Z makes the amp I use. It’s a discontinued model called a Route 66, sounds great.
Blimey! It's Angus Rappoport!
Doug is such a badass player. Tasty as hell!
I've got these in an epiphone LP and they sound WAY better than my LP studio does!
Really tempted to stick a pair in my PRS Bernie... people have said online that the specs for these are very similar to the McCarthy-era PRS pickups, so they'd be a good fit if so.

Excellent
Sounds great!
Doug is just the real deal
Considering putting some slash pickups in my warlock. Seymour Duncan makes some of the best pickups around.
Sounds perfect!
amzing tone and also always awazing player
Man I came for the pickups but I'm leaving with Friedman on my brain, sick demo pickups did sound great 👍
Great demo
Coincidentally, today I was looking into some hotter PAF voiced pickups for my SG and these SD stood out along with some Dimarzio fortitudes so uh...thanks for settling that debate for me. Beautiful sound. Even better playing.
This dude is awesome! and the tones!
Stunning stuff! Love it.
Great tones!
Amazing player
Doug = Amazing!!!!!
Killer playing!!!
these sound great wonder how they sound in comparison with antiquitys
Epic - going for a bridge one, and a Lindy Fralin P-90 humless in the neck (Or Bare Knuckle - The Mule)
